Bentley: is a handsome 4 year old rough coat male that was released to us by his family because they no longer could care of him. He is a very sweet boy that loves attention, meeting people, other dogs and even cats. Bentley is neutered, current on all his vaccinations, house trained, and likes taking long walks. Now all Bentley needs is a family to give him the love and attention that he deserves. 12/31/2012

Mia: is a 2 year old female rough coat that came to us from her owner who fell on hard times and could no longer take care of her. She is spayed, updated her on all her vaccines, and loves attention. Mia is a very sweet girl that loves to meet people and other dogs. She likes to go for walks, riding in the car, go swimming, or just keeping you company. Being that Mia is a young girl we do recommend some obedience training. 12/31/2012

Toby II, or T2: as his friends call him, is one very friendly and lovable guy. He loves being sprayed with the water hose, going for walks and lots of play time with you. He likes other dogs and cats too. 12/30/2012

Zeke: is a young saint at just 18 months old. You can see from his pictures that he is a goofy fun loving kind of guy. He is very social and gets along with the other female saints in the rescue. Zeke was never taught his manners as a youngster, so he has been busy learning and doing very well with his leash training and basic commands. He still has a lot of puppy in him and will need a family that will continue with his learning such as “no Zeke, you can’t just run and visit everyone in the vets office”. Look closely at Zeke’s third picture and you will see he takes his own dog bone with him everywhere. Silly boy! 12/30/2012

Zoe: is a beautiful, female, short-haired/smooth coat Saint Bernard about 3 years old. Her family was heartbroken to have to give her up, but their new baby was terribly allergic to Zoe. Zoe walks very well on a leash and knows her basic commands. Sweet, fun-loving girl. Come meet Zoe and fall in love! 12/30/2012

Bleu: New arrival to the rescue! Bleu is a 9 month old male he is neutered, UTD on shots, Microchipped, and knows some commands. He was born on Feb. 28th. He is a long hair Saint Bernard. His hair is soooo soft and he is so sweet and loveable he gets along with any other animals or children. He has a lot of play in him and needs a family. The family had to give him up up due to allergies no other reason because he is a great dog. His adoption fee will need to be higher due to his age and all the vetting that has been done. He is AKC registered. This dog needs a family with another dog who is not dominant because Bleu would be intimidated. He needs someone home with him during the day — due to the fact he is a pup he needs to be left out through out the day and given a great deal of exercise. Please know that the rescue like all the other dogs makes it the first priority to find the best home for the animals. This is a very well rounded pup. BUT pups have needs and require a huge commitment. This must last a life time. 12/30/2012

Lexi: Hi I am Lexi I am up to date on all my shots and rabies as well as on Advantage flea and tick treatments. I will be spayed before adoption. I am a very sweet dog. I was rescued from a backyard breeder and am doing great and very healthy. She is a typical St. very mellow but does need her daily walks we provide her at 45 minutes a day. She is good on a leash, doesn’t bother squirrels or other dogs and people. The rest of the day she is happy to sleep indoors and she does like to romp with some toys in the yard from time to time. I have 2 cats which I am friendly with them but I do intimidate them because of my size. My rescuer uses Caser Milans methods on her, hand signals and touches and she responds great to sit, lay down, stay, and come to us. I am truly a really a very submissive saint. 12/30/2012

Mo: is a big beautiful boy. Loves attention great with all people and loves to play. This big guy is a gentle as they get with children and special need children. Has gone for the last two years to the local bubby walk for down syndrome. He has perfect manners on leash. Little less off leash but comes when called. Would be best in a house with no other male dogs. Gets along with other dogs great off his property. He is house broke and crate trained. Loves to go for car rides. Very heart breaking to. realize I’m not the right home for. This big guy has tons of love and lots of loyalty to give. 12/30/2012

BRUCE: This is an owner surrender and we really want him to be in a home where he can be IN DOORS! When adopted, he will be fully vetted. He is neutered. Bruce is about 4 years old. He was friendly but cautious at first meeting- He was on a very long overhead cable run. Good with all other dogs. Housebroken. Rides well in a car. Unknown how around kids but we will be checking very soon as he will be in a new home this week- Nov 11th. After initial guarding of owner, he seemed very friendly. Seems to prefer women to men. 12/30/2012

Lilly: is a 5 yo spayed female smoothie. She came to us as an owner turn in from a shelter in Central TN. Lilly has blended well w/ the pack here at the Rescata. She would be a great alert dog and companion for small children. 12/29/2012

Angie: is 3 years old and what a beautiful girl she is. Angie is more of a quiet and watchful saint, but that is what happens when you’re the oldest and have to look out for your younger sister 😉 Angie likes taking walks with fellow rescue, Chazy. 12/26/2012

Angie & Chazy

Dudley: is a handsome 2 year old smooth coat male that was released to us by his family because they no longer could financially take care of him. He is a very sweet boy that loves attention, meeting people and other dogs. He is good in the car and likes long walks but being he is still a young boy we recommend some obedience training. We got him neutered and updated him on all his vaccines and now all he needs is a loving family to give him the life that he deserves. 12/23/2012

Ivy: is an 11month old longhair female who is a major lovebug. Her favorite spot is curled up in your lap on the couch! She previously lived with a male lab and in foster has been living with 2 other dogs, with no concerns. She is very sweet, has good manners, and quick to learn. She mastered the doggy door very quickly and is housebroken. A true housedog from the start. When she came into rescue, she had mats between her toes and behind her hers and didn’t bat an eyelash when these were all removed. She is looking for her forever home where she can be constantly loved. 12/19/2012

Charlie: is around 3 years old and was found abandoned in the backyard of a home that had been vacant for one year. Someone put him in the yard knowing no one lived there. He was adopted last year but came back into the rescue because his adopter has a serious illness now. Charlie is a very sweet, gentle and loving saint. 12/18/2012

BARKLEY: is just a love. He is five-years-old, has a beautiful rough coat, has been neutered and is up to date on his shots. Doesn’t he have a great face? He would love for you to love him. He wants to be in his forever home before the holidays. Barkley enjoys rides in cars, getting to snuggle with his new family, and would sell his soul for a belly rub! 12/11/2012

CHARLIE: is a beautiful rough coat male Saint. He is about 3 years old. Because of his size, it is recommended that he go to a home with older children. Many dogs of this size are not aware of their size and often times can accidentally knock over small children. He is a sweetheart. He may be the king of belly rubs, he just can’t get enough. He also loves to ride in a car. With him in the car, no need to lock the doors. When we get more information on his size/weight, we will update this listing. We think he would love to be at home for some Thanksgiving leftovers. 12/11/2012

AGNES: is one gorgeous girl. Her smooth coat makes it a dream to take care of her, no mats to have to brush out of this short hair. She is spayed and up to date on her shots. She is a happy girl who loves to be loved. As soon as we get information on her age and her size, we will update this listing. 12/10/2012

Molly: is a 5 year old beautiful girl. She gets along great with large dogs, but is not good with small dogs. She does well with cats. She’s very sweet and loves people. She’ll be ready for adoption at the end of November. 12/8/2012

Jasmine: My name is Jasmine. I seem to be around 2 years of age, no more than 3. I have had a rough start to this world. My first family left me outside without much water and often no food. The neighbor took me in and tried to care for me for about 3-4 months but then decided I needed too much food and care as well. This 2nd family had plans to sell me for $300.00 to a breeder in Arlington who has a bad reputation. That’s when St. Bernard Rescue stepped in. I was transported to my foster home in Denton. It will be a little while before I am ready to go. I have poor skin and little hair & I need to be spayed. I am way under my weight for my age (only 88 lbs). I did test negative for heartworms, and got all my vaccines. I don’t mind cats or kids. I don’t mind other dogs. I am very quiet. I am kennel trained, walk on a leash well and know how to sit. I am handler attentive. You may follow me on Facebook. “I Need a Forever Home”. And, of course, you are always welcome to donate funds to my ongoing care! 12/8/2012

Zorro: and Sumo: These two gentlemen are brothers and are about 4 years old. They were given up when there was a change in their housing situation. Naturally it was no fault of theirs that they ended up at the shelter. Thankfully Saint Bernard Rescue was called and we could not resist. So moving forward we need to get these guys in a home as soon as we can. They will only be placed together. We know some rescues like to give pairs a “divorce” as their thinking is they will not bond with the new family. We have not had that experience and we feel our rescues that come in as pairs need their life companions with them. It only helps with their adjustment when placed. The fact is two Saints are a lot of fun, and these two are a real treat. They are a good size Saint about 140lbs a piece, however they are big teddy bears. The pictures speak for themselves. Sumo and Zorro love a car ride and appear to be very laid back. They are smooth coated (short hair) and are beautifully marked. They were well cared for from all indications. They walk well on a leash and have nice manners. The boys have not quite figured out they are not going back home. Sumo and Zorro are looking for a nice new home where they can be someone’s new best friend and establish a new life. Even if you can not commit to adopting them please consider fostering. We need assistance for them by Nov. 26th. If you are thinking about a new addition these lovable boys will not disappoint, in fact they will add a lot of joy to some special person’s life. 12/5/2012

Chewee: I am Chewee. I want nothing more to do all day than snuggle with you. I am a lover not a fighter. Especially in this cold weather, let’s snuggle up and read a book by the fire!! I will follow you around and be the best companion ever! I’m about 2 years old and very laid back. I am quick to bond. I am house trained and know my commands. I get along with everybody and every thing. I just want to be loved, that’s all I ask. Could you give me the love and family I am looking for? 12/5/2012

Harley: Meet Harley! He is about a year give a take a couple months. Harley is a sweet dog, he is shy until he warms up to you. He has been through soo much he his life and needs to know it is okay and he is safe. He is great with children (I’d prefer a home with children), and other dogs. We do not know about cats. Harley loves to play and bonds quickly (once he knows he’s safe). Harley was starved and is gaining weight daily. He is doing awesome in recovery. He is in a foster home with children (one being a toddler) and is doing great. He is not pushy with attention either. He will be a big boy though already over 100lbs! 12/5/2012

Buddy: He is 12-18 months old, and was seized by the Sheriff due to neglect. He weighed 45lbs when he went to the shelter. We were called and of course said yes. He is now up to 64 lbs, and doing well. He will be neutered at the appropriate weight. He is a true buddy to all people, and everyone that he meets. He is way to interested in cats, so no cats in his new home. He is great with all dogs large and small. Loves rides and toys. 12/4/2012

Duke: is a 2 year old male smooth coat that was released to us by his owner because she no longer had time for him. Duke is a very sweet handsome boy that loves to meet people and other dogs. He is good in the car and likes long walks but being he is still young we recommend some obedience training. We got him neutered and updated him on all his vaccines and now all he needs is a loving family to give him the life that he deserves. 12/2/2012

Billy: Meet Billy! His heart is as huge as he is! Billy is a beautiful 3 year old rough coat male who is a lovable giant! He had a rough start to life being in the home of an animal hoarder, but thanks to rescue, he is now healthy and has a new lease on life! He walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, is crate and potty trained, and is good with children. He loves being around people and craves affection. He currently struggles with other cats and dogs most likely due to his previous situation. He will thrive in an environment where his new family has experience with Saint Bernard’s and can give him the time and attention he deserves. 12/1/2012

Maggie: hi! my name is Maggie and I am searching for a home that will love me and keep me forever. I am a lot of fun and think you would enjoy having me around. I like everyone I meet and so far every dog and cat that has crossed my path has been fine also. I absolutely love to go for walks and my foster mom has been practicing with me and she thinks I walk like a lady. I don’t pull and I will walk as long as you want to. my favorite thing in the world is your attention I was wandering by myself for awhile without love, food or shelter, so I am so appreciative when you look my way with a smile or a pet on the head. I am actually quite petite. I don’t mind baths and love getting brushed. my vet thinks I am about 3 years old. please consider me as a new member of your family. I will settle in quickly. I have a lot of love to give, I am very affectionate, and longing for a place to call my home. I do great with children love to play! I am also short hair and mostly dry mouth! She needs a quiet and calm house. 12/1/2012

TROOPER: RUFF RUFF!!! My name is TROOPER and I am looking for my
“forever family”. Could that be YOU??. I know that I am part Saint Bernard, but I think my tail kinda looks like a Golden Retriever. Right now, I am a growing boy weighing in at 75 pounds at 8 months old. I anticipate that I will be over 100 pounds, but just not sure by how much. I am neutered and I have never tried to “mark”. In fact, I even squat when I go peepee. My foster mom says that’s a good thing, but I am not sure why. I just followed after what I saw my foster sisters doing. I am completely housetrained and crate trained. I have been living with an awesome family for several months in order to get properly “socialized” with other pups and kids. I told everybody that I am a good pup and love other pups and kids, but I guess the humans wanted to see it for themselves. And now they know that I can get along with pups from 10 pounds to 150 pounds and kids from toddlers to teens (just watch out for those “teenager” boy feet. they smell stinky). You don’t have to tell me twice to eat, but I am not food aggressive at all. My foster mom always puts her hands around my dish while I eat so that I know how to act. And I eat right next to other pups and have never growled or tried to steal their food. I love treats and will even sit for one. I love running and playing fetch. I would love someone to teach me frisbee or soccer. I know I would be good at it!! I am a very confident pup and also very loyal. I love to snuggle up and get a belly rub. I even do that funny thing shaking my back leg when you scratch the right spot. Overall, I am awesome and be a wonderful addition to any family. And I’ve got those brown “puppy eyes” that would melt anyone’s heart. Take me home and I will be your best friend ;).
11/29/2012

Jewel: Rescued from a a facility that uses gas for euthanasia. Believed to be about a year old. So far has been good with other dogs and children. Somewhat shy and timid. She is your typical puppy! Is not housebroken but that is being worked on. She will be spay on Wednesday. 11/29/2012

CUJO: My foster mommy says I am like a huge teddy bear. I am 22 months old I love treats, know some of my commands, and love children and other dogs. All I want is to be part of the family. I love to go on walks and car rides and I love to give kisses. 11/29/2012

Mandy: is a 4 year old female rough coat that was dumped at a shelter by her owner. The shelter personnel believe the owner used her to breed and are now breeding with a younger female. She is a very sweet girl that loves to meet people and most dogs but no small animals. Mandy likes to go for walks, riding in the car, or just keeping you company. She is spayed, current on all her vaccines and ready for her forever home. 11/28/2012

GABBY: is a rough coat female. She was born 9/13/2003, and is a healthy 9-year-old girl. She is housebroken. She has not been crate trained. Gabby has good house manners. Like all Saint Bernards, she loves attention and can’t get enough of a good belly rub! She will bark when a stranger comes to the door. She tolerates grooming (and it looks like she could use a good grooming right now). She will come when called. Gabby walks well on a leash. She is a good size and we get weight/shoulder height we will update this listing. She has a sweet face and nice markings. Call and check her out. She won’t disappoint you!! 11/28/2012

MISSY: was a former breeder’s (puppy mill) dog, and was brought into a shelter by her owner who asked that she be put to sleep. He claimed she was 12 years old and blind, neither of which is true. She is not blind and we estimate her age as 5 or 6 years. She was, however, severely malnourished, underweight, and had been used to produce many litters of puppies. She was also covered with fleas and ticks, and her front teeth were worn down from chewing on a metal cage. Since she came into foster care, she has gained weight, but is still on the smaller side for a Saint. Despite her terrible treatment at the hands of her original owner, Missy is one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet. She demands lots of hugs and kisses, and is happiest by her foster’s side. She will give a bark when a stranger comes up, but quickly makes friends and rolls over for a belly rub. She is very smart, listens to commands and is house trained. Please call about her. She is really a sweet girl who deserves a better life than she has had. 11/28/2012

Atlas: 11/28/2012

Cedrick: HI my name is Cedrick. I only weigh 90 lbs. and i am heartworm positive. The family that is caring for me fell on some hard times and left me at a kennel where I will be staying until I can find a foster or someone to adopt me. I need some work on my manners; you see I was left outside alot. I am asking for someone to take me home, love me and help me get my health back. I love people and small dogs. I am not crazy about big dogs. Sooooooo, if you would like to help a big guy out, I will work hard to fit in! 11/27/2012

MERCEDES: is a lovely 4-5 year old female who also responds to Sadie. She weighs in at a nice 105 lbs and is really nicely marked. She has a rough coat (longer hair) and is spayed and up to date on heartworm preventative. Mercedes gets along with birds and cats, but is picky about dogs. She lives with a macaw and chickens and has no problem with them. She also lives with a Boston terrier and a maltese and gets along fine. She does not like the beagle who lives with them. The beagle is elderly and her owners don’t want her to be uncomfortable with Sadie being around. She does love people of all sizes and shapes. Please give a call to learn more about this sweet lady Saint. 11/27/2012

Brutis: (Austin, TX) Let me tell you some things about Brutis. Brutis is seven years old but acts like a puppy. He is neutered, current on all shots (have paperwork), and microchipped. He is great with all dogs, big or small, and cats. He is a perfect gentleman when he is around children, big or small. Brutis was two years old when I had my first son and so he grew up with kids. But as anyone knows he is a saint bernard and just cant see the little ones sometimes. When he accidentally makes one cry he tries to make them feel better by licking them. When he is ready to go to sleep he will take one of his “suckie toys” and suck on them. Sometimes he will grab ones that squeak and they will squeak every time he closes his mouth. His only flaw is that he is people shy. But ones he gets to know you, doesn’t take long, he will try to climb onto your lap or always be touching you. In short he is a great dog. 11/26/2012

MARLA: is smooth coat, always a plus if you don’t want to have to spend a lot of time brushing out mats. Short hair can definitely be an advantage. She has a very sweet disposition, and as you can see from one of the photos, she loves to play with toys. When we get some info on her age, we will add it to this listing. She does weigh in at 112 pounds and she is spayed. She is a lovey dog, wants your attention, loves you to rub her belly, and hopes you will take her on car rides when you run errands. Please consider this beautiful dog to be a wonderful addition to your family. 11/22/2012

MOLLY: is believed to be a Leonberger. She was born 9/12/2010. She is exceptionally smart, and is very trainable. She is very energetic and needs someone experienced with large breeds. According to Wikipedia, “When properly trained and socialized, the Leonberger is vigilant, loyal, and confident in all situations. Robust, adaptable, obedient, intelligent, playful, and kindly, the Leonberger is an appropriate family companion for modern living conditions”. Please call about her. She is a beautiful girl. 11/22/2012

WELLINGTON: is as stately as his name. He has a beautiful rough coat with splash markings, Wellington is between 5 and 6 years old. He has one of the biggest heads you will find, and it is wonderfully smooshed in. He has legs that are a bit shorter than average. He has feet so big they look like he is wearing fuzzy slippers. He is really a character. He loves attention. He tends to want to lean on you like most Saints do. If you want a fun dog, think about adding Wellington to your home. He would look great with a Santa hat on next month!!! 11/22/2012

Tink: or Bell or Tinkerbell – is a 3 year old dog that is full of fun but has fears that she needs to work with a loving family on. She is tentative around crowds and strange things but just needs some reassurance and love and she will bloom into a wonderful dog. She is UTD on all shots and spayed. She has been shaved and will need some good nutrition so that she can live here life with her new family. Maybe yours? 11/20/2012

Max: is 15 months old. Weighs app. 135lbs. He was given to this family as a puppy by a family who couldn’t care for him. He has had all his shots and will be neutered before adoption. He likes to run and play but there is not enough room in our house. He has been around all ages of children and loves them but please remember he is a large dog and they sometimes don’t know their own strength. He does not harm them in any way. He obeys us when we tell him to stay, sit or go lay down. He is give table food from time to time. He is housebroken. He lives with a Chihuahua. The Chihuahua is in charge. He is a purebred. The one thing that Max does not deal with is cats they have tormented him by eating his food. He has dry skin which will need attention and care. He has been vetted the vet was not concerned. 11/20/2012

Josephine: is a young girl, she has allot of puppy energy in her, She was turned into us by her family as being a puppy she was destroying their home when they were at work, she gets along great with other dogs. but needs to be crated when left alone. or she will redecorate your home. 11/19/2012

Sampson: My name is Sampson. I came to the rescue skin and bone at 127lbs. I have a huge frame. I am somewhere between 4 and 5 years old, it’s difficult to tell; however, I like to keep them guessing anyway. My foster mommy says I am like a huge teddy bear with short hair. I love treats, know some of my commands, and love children and other dogs. I don’t pay attention to cats either. I am heart worm positive. My foster mom tells me I will probably be with her a while because a lot of people don’t realize that heart worm is not contagious. It is a once a month treatment, and if someone wants me I even get to bring some medicine with me to my new home!! I was so happy to hear that. Oh but I do have one down side my foster mom tells me I snore! Can you believe that?? I tell her she is just blaming that on me, and that it’s really my foster brothers and sister. 11/19/2012

Louie: Hi, my name is Louie! I was dumped off and picked up by the pound, they scheduled me to be put down. But then my foster mommy came and saved me. I come when I’m called and know my basic commands, I love to play, and love car rides. I’m about two years old and my foster mommy says I’m very polite. I get along great with kids and other large dogs; however, I don’t get along well with cats or small dogs. I don’t understand them yet. I am fully vetted, back to great health, and ready for my forever home! 11/19/2012

London: Hi, my name is London! I’m about 11 moths to a year old and I love to play! I was an owner turn in after my mommy had adopted me from a shelter. My mommy had to turn me in due to her having to move to the UK for her job. My foster mommy says I’m very polite. I’m great with children and other dogs after a slow introduction. I have been through a lot in my life so far and I need lots of work. I need a home that’s dedicated and knows how to work with dogs like me. I get scared easily and need a lot of TLC. I haven’t been around a cat yet so I’m not sure if I like them or not. When I’m in the house I’m calm. I love to be a couch potato with you when I’m invited. I get a little nervous when I’m left alone, but I’m slowly getting over that. Can you give me a home? 11/19/2012

Thor: is about 2 years old. He is very polite and shy until he knows he can trust you, then warms up nicely. He does not counter surf and gets along with all other animals. He came to us heart worm positive and is currently being treated in his foster home. Thor is house trained, UTD on shots, micro-chipped, and neutered. Thor is truly a gentle giant. 11/19/2012

Samantha: My name is Samantha. I’m about 8 weeks old. I love to PLAY PLAY PLAY! I’m all puppy. I am a smooth coat. I’m a doll. My foster mom and I are working on house training and my basic commands. She says it won’t take me long. I love to please! I will be spayed before I go to my new home. 11/19/2012

Walter: is a 1.5 year old neutered male Saint. He is a sweet boy, still very much a “puppy” and is housebroken. He is heartworm negative, and is current on all vaccines. Walter lives with large and small dogs, and would love another dog “playmate” to chase around and play tug with. He is fine with children, but due to his large size, and the fact that he needs training, older children are recommended. Walter knows some basic commands, but needs work on a leash. He has a “woof” that will chase away any intruder! 11/19/2012

Thomas (Tom): is a very sweet, affectionate and easy going guy. He loves belly rubs and likes playing and going for walks with the other female saints in rescue. He is gentle around kids and even gives them kisses but he seems to be drawn more to adults. He is a little shy in a crowd and will “hide” behind you and then he will peek around you to see who he wants to go get loves from. 11/18/2012

Montana: is a very sweet young girl. She loves people, very affectionate, playful and gets along great with other dogs. 11/18/2012

Brandi: just turned one year old. Brandi is a very loving girl who when she sees you, she starts wiggling from her nose and it carries all the way to her tail. Brandi has a wonderful loving and playful personality, and she doesn’t know a stranger. 11/18/2012

Beethoven: is a beautiful seven year old guy who has plenty of playfulness and love to give. He previously lived in a small home with 17 other dogs, so we can definitely say he gets along very well with other dogs of all sizes and shapes. He loves his collar so much that if you take it off he will sit and stare at it until you put it back on him. Silly boy! Pictures coming soon but don’t wait for them, come see Beethoven now and fall in love. 11/18/2012

Bandit: is approximately one year old and what a beautiful girl she is. Bandit is every bit a puppy and loves to run and play. She likes to play with other male dogs that are her size. Bandit adores people and no one is a stranger to her. 11/18/2012

Gabby: We wanted to post an update on Gabby. As you may recall Gabby is the Saint that had the terribly broken leg with the crushed elbow. We are happy, thrilled, and elated to show her progress in her new home. This picture brought tears to our eyes. She is happy and doing super especially since her new family has her in water therapy as part of her rehabilitation. We are so pleased for her. Again we want to thank you for your generous donations that our supporters sent last summer when Gabby’s’ prospects looked grim. Thanks to you we were able to give Gabby a chance to recover. All as I can say is we made a good decision, and a right one. We always want to try when it comes to the Saints in our care. Thanks to you for helping us we are able to get Gabby the care she deserved. We hope she lives a long happy life. Sincerely Mid Atlantic Saint Bernard Rescue. There is also a picture of Gabby and her best friend Greta (Greta is a bulldog with special needs, she was abandoned by her owner and chewed through her metal chain to escape her pen but then got her hind end wrapped in barbed wire and has nerve damage as a result. She and Gabs are kindred spirits. She is doing great! Gabby is getting around better and has fit in with her “new pack”. She is slowly gaining weight and has become really silly and playful. We love her soo much! 11/11/2012

Booker: Hi! I am Booker and I am 4 yrs old. I am well mannered, house broken good on off leash and I know how to sit stay lay down. I get along with all dogs. Very respectful of people and I would make an AMAZING forever dog for your home. Can I come home with you? 11/6/2012

BOUNTY: is three-years-old and just wants to play and be loved. He was dumped at a local Wilmington, NC Vet with a note that said that they could not afford to keep him any longer. This big guy loves everyone and everything including cats, birds and other dogs (big and small). As you can see from his photos he is just beautiful. Bounty weighs in at about 140 pounds. He can use some love are you the person to give it to him? Please call about Bounty. 11/5/2012

Clyde: is three years old and what a special saint he is. Clyde is very affectionate, loves the girl saints, going for long walks, giving kisses on the chin and getting belly rubs. He adores all people and just look at that cute face of his. You can’t help but fall in love with him. Clyde is pictured here with fellow rescue Brandi. 11/2/2012

Angus: is a beautiful boy that was brought in as a stray in Virginia. He was diagnosed with epilepsy and is at boarding at the vet’s office while they try to get his medication adjusted. He is only a year and a half old, and we’re told he has a bouncy puppy attitude when he’s feeling well, though he comes and sits quietly waiting for his “treat” when it’s time for his pills. We are all hoping that with the appropriate medication, Angus can live a long and happy life, but he will always be a special needs dog. 10/28/2012

Bonnie: and Clyde: came from a shelter in West Virginia. They were given up by their owner who could no longer care for them. They are 5 years old, up to date on their shots, and must be spayed/neutered before they can be adopted. These are two of the sweetest dogs you could ever want to meet. Unfortunately, they’ve been kept on a chain their entire lives and will need a home with an experienced owner that can commit to giving them obedience training and teaching them how to live as a part of a loving family. They love people, and they love each other, but we’re not sure yet how they get along with cats or other dogs. Hope to update with better pictures and more information soon. 10/28/2012

BEAR: is approximately 2 years old, he is a big boy but he still looks a little lanky. He loves children and wants nothing more than to sit with them when they go outside and then sleep at the foot of the bed with them at night. He does well on a leash with someone that knows how to walk a big dog, when my 10 year old daughter walks him we make sure he has a gentle leader on just because he is so big. He does well off the leash as well, generally when he is somewhere he can run free he stays beside or within sight of his people. He sometimes thinks he is a lap dog but listens when he is told to back up. He has no food issues, you can take his bowl away while he is eating and he does just fine. He does have a little bit of a problem when dogs are on the other side of the fence but with a firm voice saying “leave it” he will walk away. He is most happy when he is either outside running or inside laying beside his person. He is neutered and up to date on his shots. 10/28/2012

BELLE: is a wonderful girl, loving and sweet, a perfect addition to any home. She is up to date on shots, spayed, listens well, is no problem around the house, and really needs somebody to love her. Belle is a mix, but mainly Saint Bernard as you can see from the picture. She would make a wonderful guest at your Thanksgiving table (or at least under it for scraps!). 10/28/2012

Frida: is a 3 year old female smooth coat that was released to us by her owner because he could no longer take care of her. She is a petite girl with beautiful markings that loves to meet people and other dogs. Frida likes to go for walks, riding in the car, or just hanging out with you. She is spayed, current on all her vaccines, house trained, and ready for her forever home. 10/28/2012

Emma Rose: Meet the fabulous Emma Rose. Emma is a 5 year old rough coated saint. Emma loves the companionship of other dogs and her people. She enjoys lounging around the house waiting for food to fall. Emma is fully house broken, leash trained, and is very gentle around smaller dogs and kids. Emma Rose is a petite Saint-great for those who love the breed but want a slightly smaller companion. 10/26/2012

Betsy: is a 4 year old female rough coat that came to us from her owner who could no longer take care of her. We got her spayed, updated her on all her vaccines, and the vet treated her ears which where crusted over with fly bits. She is a very sweet girl that loves to meet people and other dogs. Betsy likes to go for walks, riding in the car, or just keeping you company. 10/22/2012

Babs: aka Babette is a 4 year old female rough coat that was taken from a breeder along with her 16 brothers and sisters by animal control and turned over to us. Per her foster Mom she has gained some weight, is coming out of her shell and is a goof ball. She has lots of energy, is extremely playful and would do well in an active household or one with kids or dog buddy that would enjoy playing. She has a great smile, loves to wag her tail, and is well behaved on her daily walks and she is great with the family cat. Babs has been completely vaccinated; heart worm tested, de-wormed, and house trained. Babs foster Mom is working on her manners but we still recommend obedience training. Now all Babs needs is a family that will give her lots of love and continue with her training. 10/22/2012

Clark: is a very handsome 7 year old male rough coat. He and his sister Marilyn where released to us by their owner who could no longer care of them. He is neutered, house trained, and current on all his vaccines. Clark named after Clark Gable is a big sweet loveable boy that loves people and other dogs. He is mellow boy that loves to swim or just lay by your feet and get belly rubs. Clark is just waiting for a family to give him the love and attention forever. 10/22/2012

Marilyn: is a beautiful 7 year old female rough coat. She and her brother Clark where released to us by their owner who could no longer care of them. She is spayed, house trained, and current on all her vaccines. Marilyn named after Marilyn Monroe is a big sweet loveable girl that loves people and other dogs. She is mellow girl that just loves to follow you from room to room or get lots of belly rubs. Not like her brother Clark she not fond of the water. Now all Marilyn needs is a family that will love and care for her forever. 10/22/2012

Roxy: is a 5 year old female rough coat that came to us along with her brother Spike from an owner who said she didn’t have time for them. When I first saw Roxy I couldn’t believe my eyes, she was dirty, matted with burs all over her, infection in both eyes and about 20lbs over weight. We have her on medication for her eyes and diet plus exercise to start loosing the weight. She is a very sweet mellow girl that’s good with kids and other dogs. She is not house broke yet but we are working on it, walks good on leash, and rides great in the car. Roxy is spayed, current on her vaccines, had a much needed bath so now she needs a family to love her. 10/22/2012

Bandit: is an adorable, young Great Pyrenees. He gets along well with the other dogs that he lives with but with love to have his own forever home. He’s very easy going and would love nothing more than to sit by your feet and get hugs and kisses. 10/20/2012

Crypto: is a 6-7 year old female who is up to date on shots and spayed. She is a very mellow dog and gets along with everyone and everything. She can play and have fun with the best of them but also is very calm and wait for the next treat. 10/19/2012

Mystee: will be three years old on November 28, 2012. She is a very loveable dog and loves to run and be active. Mystee thinks she is a lap dog and loves to be around people as much as possible. She needs to be with no other smaller dogs. She has not been around younger children as our kids are 19 & 22. Mystee would make a great pet for anyone looking for a companion to keep you company and love unconditional. She is crate trained and up to date with all her shots and bordetella. 10/19/2012

Claire: is a beautiful 3 year old female St. Bernard from St. George, Utah. H.A.R. T. Rescue contacted us because they were able to convince her previous family to give her to Rescue to find a new home because she was spending a lot of time outside. Claire gets along with other dogs and she is good with children. Her previous family had seven children! 10/15/2012

Tia: This is Tia, a pretty 3 year old female St. Bernard who was found as a stray in Searchlight, NV. Tia needs a loving, nurturing home that is willing to give her some time to adjust to a new environment. She is timid when meeting new people but after 3 days in her foster home she started to wag her tail and respond to offers of treats. We don’t know what her back story is, but she may have been on her own for some time and that is why she is unsure of new surroundings. 10/15/2012

Tobey: is a 2yo neutered male smooth coat. He was turned in by his owner because he would not eat and she was moving. Tobey gained 20# in the first 3.5 weeks he was w/ us. He needs about another 15-20 pounds. He is enjoying being an inside dog at the Rescata. 10/14/2012

Chipper: Hi! My name is Chipper and I am a very polite, loveable and lonely 5 year old, short harried male. I am neutered and up to date on all my shots and I have been raised with 2 young girls and lots of other animals. Unfortunately, I am the victim of a divorce; my mom cant keep me all the time and has been trying her hardest to do what she can, but my life has been very confusing and unstable lately. I would love to go to a home where I can be a big part of the family. I will lean right up next to you and follow you wherever you want me to go. I am good on walks and I know all my basic commands. 10/13/2012

Buster: is a two year old, male, rough coat, Saint Bernard. He was found out in the country, wandering down the highway, with no tags or collar, dirty, smelly, and underweight. He hasn’t been able to tell us much about what happened to him, so that’s all we know. Buster has a great temperament, and is friendly toward people and dogs alike. He gets very excited if he spots a cat. It is recommended that Buster go to a home with no small children simply because of his size. He weighs 100 lbs. now, but is under weight, and will gain quickly as he is a good eater. It is obvious that no one spent any time trying to teach Buster anything, which is a shame because he is anxious to learn, and does so quickly. He has already learned to walk very nicely on leash, and he is learning his basic commands, sit, stay and down at his foster home. He will do well in a forever home where someone will spend some time with him, and train him. Buster is friendly and affectionate without being overly needy. He is calm and well behaved. Buster is a very nice, handsome Saint Bernard who deserves a safe, loving home. He has been neutered, micro-chipped, given his shots and is ready for adoption. 10/13/2012

Whiskey: is a gorgeous Saint pup! She loves playing with all the dogs at her foster home. She’s full of energy and will do great with any family and is ready to find her furever home. 10/13/2012

Penny: is a 3 to 4 year old female rough coat that was found as a stray and turned over to a local shelter which is where we got her from. She is spayed and updated her on all her vaccines. She is a very sweet girl that loves to meet people and other dogs. Penny likes to go for walks, riding in the car, or just keeping you company. We believe she has had some training because she knows the sit command but we do recommend additional training. 10/13/2012

Lola: is 5 years old and what a sweetheart she is. Lola knows no strangers and loves everyone she meets. She lived with young children and other dogs in her former home. They never would have given her up if not for a change in personal circumstances. She is pictured here with fellow rescue, Toby. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her shots and even visited the dentist recently for a teeth cleaning. Lola is an all around girl who likes to give and get loves and she also likes her play time. Come see our Miss Lola – she is ready and waiting for her new family. 10/10/2012

Travis: Hi my name is Travis. I was out wondering around, and by my condition I had been on my own for awhile. Then animal welfare found me and picked me up. I was infested with fleas and ticks, and had been starved. I was about 80lbs underweight. I’m well on the road to recovery though. My foster mom says I still have a nice and positive attitude through all I’ve been through. I am completely house trained, and I’m very polite. I get along with all animals and love children. I sleep with my foster mommy’s 7 year old son. I’m not quite ready to go; however, it won’t be long. I am taking applications though. Could I be your forever companion? My foster mommy says I will make someone a great companion. Transportation is available throughout Oklahoma and parts of Kansas. A fenced in yard is required for adoption. 10/10/2012

DUKE: is 3-1/2 year old who has been an inside dog all his life. Duke finds himself in a home were the single mom works long hours and believes that Duke deserves to be in a home were he can get the attention from the family that he loves, and yes he loves everyone from big to small. He is very gentle with his owner’s very petite grandchild and the 12 year old Rottie that lives with him. He just tries to get the Rottie to play more but she just wants to nap. So if your have room for a big mush ball, he will definitely fit the bill. 10/10/2012

GEORGE: was picked up off of Craigslist in August 2011. He was 8 months old, malnourished, and terrified of people. A little over a year later he is big (about 140 lbs) and healthy. He has also found out how friendly people can be and turned into a sweet and affectionate lap dog. He does not know what to think of the cats in his home but he loves the little Australian Shepherd mix and plays very gently with her and loves all the people in his home. You might be wondering why a great guy like this needs to find a new home, well there is an 12-year-old dominant male Germen Sheppard, and George is maturing into a dominate male so they are going to settle who is top dog and this will not end well for either. With much remorse his mom has decided George needs to find a new home where he can be top dog, and be the center of attention to his new family. So if you have room in your heart and home for a big furry love bug, George would love to talk to you. 10/10/2012

HONEY DUTCHESS: is an absolutely beautiful young lady. She is 9 months old, her birthdate is 11/11/2011. She is spayed and up to date on her shots. She currently weighs between 90 and 95 pounds. Dutchess is a very loving and attentive companion. She is great with other dogs, and is very tolerant of the owners’ 2 year old daughter, who loves to hug and play with her. She showed some signs of fear around adult men when her owners first got her, around 8 weeks, but she has improved significantly since then, and now shows little to no aversion. She is generally very relaxed and spends a lot of time sleeping, but loves to play with our smaller dogs outside when she gets the chance. She has been consistently aggressive when guarding food or bones from other dogs, but we’ve avoided that behavior by feeding her away from other other pets. Dutchess is housebroken, does well in a crate, and is pretty good about only chewing on her own toys/bones. She does well on a leash with a training collar, and listens very well to her owners. Honey Dutchess has hip dysplasia on both sides. The owners vet recommended that she be put down when we were ready, but we feel that it is unnecessary as she looks/acts healthy and happy, except after she runs or plays for an extended amount of time. There is an elevated dog bed that is recommended for dogs with hip dysplasia, that can go with her to her new home. 10/10/2012

Shorty: He is suppose to be a long hair dog, his former owner has shaved off all is hair. He has some bad habits that we are working on, 1) is he will dig out of any yard, he really wants to be with people, 2) He will steal food from other dogs, 3) He needs a great obedience class as of now he jumps up on people, which we are working on, he has allot of energy in him! 10/8/2012

Roxy: Meet Roxy she is an owner surrender due to moving. Is starved for human contact. loves to be petted and groomed. Spent too much time outside being ignored. Does well with older kids (due to leaning in for more petting and attention). Does well with other dogs loves to play! She is curious about cats not a mean bone in her, but wants to know if they would like to play with her one hiss she turns away like she has been scolded. She is started on leash training as this was previously grossly neglected. Wants to please. She is spayed and up to date on shots wormed and chipped. Will be forever grateful for anything done in kindness and love. Will make a very loyal companion dog. 10/8/2012

Gigi: is an adorable 1 1/2 year old Bassett Hound mix. She was so scared in the shelter and is adjusting well in her foster home. She will follow you everywhere and lays by your side the whole time. She’s very low energy for a puppy and would make a fantastic buddy for anyone. 10/7/2012

Nate: This is Little Nate. He’s a tiny little Great Pyrenees Pup. He just loves and loves every dog and person he meets. He’s such little doll. He’s need to be fattened up, but he’s ready to be adopted. 10/6/2012

Fred: a shorthaired male that is approximately 4 to 5 years old – best guess. He is one of our puppy mill dogs. He is doing well and gets along with other dogs. Loves his walks and any attention that he can find. He is looking for his forever home or a foster person that can teach him what a normal daily life is all about. 10/5/2012

Lucie: This is Lucie who is a sweet just turned 1 year old Saint Bernard. She is on the smaller side for a Saint Bernard but has all the love and affection a Saint should have. She is a well behaved dog still needs guidance with the puppy behavior but really is doing a great job. She loves to play but is gentle. She is crate trained and has done well with going outside. She still needs some work with walking on the leash but well on her way. She doesn’t have problems with other dogs, cats, or children. Lucie would be a wonderful family dog. She is UTD on shots, spayed, micro chipped, and has been well cared for. Her owner just couldn’t give her the time that he wanted her to have. 10/5/2012

Ostia: is a 10 month old female smooth coat that came to us from an owner release. She is good with kids and other dogs both big and small. Osita love’s to have her belly rubbed and her ears itched, she also loves to give kisses. She is house broke, walks ok on leash but is learning to walk better, and she loves to play ball. She spayed, current on her vaccines but being young girl we recommend additional training. 10/5/2012

Abbie: Abbie is a 3 year old spayed St Bernard female in Hurst, TX. She has lots of little dog friends and loves being part of a pack but also loves her time alone with people. She sometimes forgets her size and will want to sit right down on your lap! She’s about 100 pounds but still filling out. Excellent demeanor and not a mean bone in her body though her bark is most impressive. She loves walks and her favorite toy is usually a dish towel or a sock. She’s coming from a house of too many animals and needs a wonderful new home! Abbie is fine with cats and children. 10/1/2012

Rufus: I am believed to be a Saint mix who came into my foster parents life several months ago. I was found running through their alley and I had been severely neglected for some time. I had open sores on my ears, mange on most of my body and needed to gain weight. Thank goodness for my foster parents who brought me back to health and got me up to date on my shots. Unfortunately, I cannot stay to much longer at my foster parents’ house as their larger dog of the two does not like me. They have a smaller 8lb dog and cat that I get along with just fine. I love playing with all humans, children and animals. I just want to love and be loved. Please help me find a new home where I can bring joy and happiness. I weigh 90 lbs, & I am housebroken. I will be neutered soon. 10/1/2012

Petunia: Josie is our new mama! She was dumped in a deserted lot and a concerned neighbor took her to the vet where she promptly delivered 9 puppies, 2 of which unfortunately did not survive. Josie had an infection and subsequently had to be spayed to remove her uterus which was very infected. Josie is now doing fine. She is believed to be between 2 and 3 years old. She has a sweet disposition and has already been adopted. So, let’s talk about the puppies! They were born June 21, 2012. We estimate that they should be ready to go to their forever homes in about 10 weeks (somewhere around Labor Day). These little dumplings are adorable, 5 are females and 2 are males. Josie is a wonderful mama. The father, however, is a mystery man so we can only wonder who the traveling man is. Josie and the puppies are being fostered near Raleigh. We are hopeful that the foster parents will send us pictures each week so we can keep up with their growth. Any ideas on names? Let us know. We will keep you posted on their growth and personality development. Nothing sweeter than a puppy! You gotta love puppy breath! Update; 7/11/2012 It is exciting! Josie’s puppies are growing. Wonder which one you will want to be your own? We are at the moment unable to determine the sex of each, but when we can, we will let you know. The Foster Parents have given each puppy a new name and taken more pictures. See what you think? Petunia is such a sweetie. 10/1/2012

Now

BAXTER: is our latest addition, and again, with an injury!!! Baxter came from a puppy mill in Ohio. He was going to be put down because of the injury to his paw. We need to give big thanks to Peggy Benoit with Mastiffs to Mutts Rescue for getting him and driving him down to Maryland. We think he’s about 8 weeks old based on his size – around 10 pounds. His injury is being addressed. We will know more about that soon. He’s a sweet and friendly pup who deserves a loving long-term home. Call for information. 9/28/2012

8/31/2012

Update on Baxter 8/31/2012; Baxter had his surgery about 10 days ago. He has done remarkablely well, and his outcome has been as expected. Let me explain, when Baxter came into Rescue in mid to late July his paw was curled and he was walking on top of it. You can see from his original picture. He was offered to another rescue and it is our understanding they were told his leg needed to come off and they turned him down. We felt he was owed a chance to get better, and be seen by a board certified orthopedic surgeon here in Maryland, which we did. Turns out that paw was most likely stepped on or injured in that nature. He became accustomed to walking on the top of his paw. The surgery involved stretching the muscle and tendons to get the paw straightened so he could learn to walk on it. That is a very simplified version of his surgical procedure. There was not nerve damage, as he clearly has feeling in his paw and leg. We are confident he will make a full recovery. Fortunately we have a lot of great people working on our Saints behalf. We appreciate them very much, especially their selfless dedication to our cause. On another note I have been involved, as a volunteer with Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation, inc. For going on 12 years. I adopted my first Saint in July 2001, Frolic. I promptly renamed him Fred. I could not get over this big wonderful boy being dumped at a shelter. I had no idea dogs “like that” got dumped in shelters and even worse euthanatized when their time is up. So I started to volunteer with Saint Bernard Rescue. Conservative count I have been involved with over 600 adoptions of Saint Bernards in the Maryland, Virginia, D.C. area through the National group. Our group prides itself on taking in the elderly, the hurt, and ones other rescues find to be a possible challenge. We are glad to have had the opportunity to help these gentle giants to their forever homes. I am disappointed over the few people who have put erroneous information out about Baxter. To the wonderful people who gladly donated we thank you very much. It made it possible for Baxter to get on the road walking on 4 legs. Which is what he is learning to do. We DO NOT run scams at this rescue on dogs fundraisers…….Simply Put. Sincerely Jennifer Rexroad.

Peachie: is a 2 year old that loves children and gets along well with other dogs, but not so much with cats. She has been spayed and is up to date on all her shots. 9/28/2012

Kai: is a 2 year old Siberian Husky with the most gorgeous ice blue eyes! She loves kids and people but is not good with other dogs and should be in an only dog family. She is spayed, housebroken and up to date with shots. 9/28/2012

Skittles: Meet Skittles. He’s as cute as can be for an Aussie pup. He has one brown eye and one blue eye. He’ll make a great family pet. 9/28/2012

Roxy: She is a 1 year old female, She is good with kids and wonderful with other dogs of all sizes. She has not been exposed to cats. She will come with her papers that we have not mailed in at this point. She is about 120-130lbs and currently eats pedigree dry food. 9/27/2012

BELLA MARIE: is as beautiful as her name. She is 6-years-old. spayed, and weighs in at about 140 pounds. Bella Marie has a smooth coat (short hair) and this is actually what the original Saints who rescued people in the alps had rather than the long hair. And, at 140 pounds, she is a really good sized female. She gets along with chickens and small dogs. We don’t have any knowledge about her feeling about cats. She would probably be better off with and older home. Because of her size, smaller kids might accidentally get knocked over by her. Most of these gentle giants don’t have any idea of how large they are. Also, a family with big dog experience would be a plus. She is very loving and protective of her family. She also needs some work on her leash manners, she pulls when out on walks with her people ( a gentle lead should address this issue). Bella is really a sweetheart. Also, don’t forget the fact that she has short hair and there won’t be any problems of matted hair that sometimes happen with longer haired dogs. Please call with questions about this cutie. 9/27/2012

ZOEY: is a beautiful 5-year-old female. She is spayed and current on her shots. Her coat is quite nice, rough coat (long fur) and has a bunch of the St. Bernard freckles you see so often on these dogs. She weighs in at about 110 pounds. Zoey has come into rescue due to a financial crisis. Her family is losing their home and she cannot go with them. She would do better with kids who are teenagers and above because she is a big girl. She can accidentally knock over a smaller child. Somebody with big dog experience is preferred. She needs to know who is in charge. She is very loving and protective of her family. She loves going for walks, rides, and playing with other dogs. Please consider adding this sweetheart to your family. 9/27/2012

Matilda: is a 2 1/2 year old female rough coat that we rescued from a local shelter after she was dumped on the streets. She is a sweet girl that loves attention and is great with other dogs big and small. Matilda will be spayed before adoption, current on all her vaccines and has had a much needed bath. Her pictures where taken right after her bath so she is still somewhat wet but still very pretty. So now all Matilda needs is a loving family to give her the attention and love that she deserves. 9/27/2012

Lilly: I am a 5-6 year old, spayed long hair female. She has a great disposition. I am very dainty for a saint, I don’t drool much, a lady never gives her true weight! I just want to be with you! I just want you to be happy with me. I hope you are looking for someone like me, because I deserve to be in a forever home-loving YOU. Do you have a little bit of room in your house and your heart for me? I need to find a home soon so please call! 9/27/2012

/pictures/Pennsylvania/pa-Lilly3.jpg

Missy: is approx 2 years old. She is sweet loving beautiful girl. She has been completely vetted and entropian repaired. More to follow! Missy needs a foster or a forever home!! 9/27/2012

Lover: is pure breed male Saint Bernard he is approx 2-3 yo. Wonderful dog, and beautiful. He is completely vetted. More to follow!! Lover needs a foster home or a forever home!!! 9/27/2012

Zeke: Meet Zeke, a male Saint Bernard that is five years old. He is a “big” guy with lots of love to give. He is wonderful and loves attention. He stays with you on walks and is just a great dog. He was housebroken per his previous owner but a newborn moved him to the outside yard and garage. He likes his car rides but has the tendency for motion sickness. He received his first bath since coming to foster and was more than agreeable to all that was done to him. Whatever you want to give or take, it’s been O.K. with him. Has not been raised with children so older children would be best. Zeke has lived with a female Saint his entire life and understands completely that females are the boss. Previous owners reports that Zeke is good with other dogs but has never met a cat. Zeke is ready to meet his public! 9/26/2012

Scrappy Doo: looked very much like a Saint puppy in the shelter photos, but when our volunteer got to the shelter, he realized this was a “mini” dog, not a giant breed. Nevertheless, he needed rescuing, so Scrappy Doo joined the Saint Bernard rescue program. He is about 3 months old, soon to be neutered, and in the process of getting all his vaccines. Scrappy Doo is guessed to be a mix of maybe Dachshund/Corgi? He has Saint markings, but short, little ,stubby legs. He is cute as can be, and enjoys bossing the big dogs in his foster home. His foster family thinks he will be a 25 pound dog at full size. That is “purse size” for us Saint lovers! Scrappy Doo is being fostered in the Denton, TX area. Meet him, and this little bundle of energy will steal your heart! 9/23/2012

Bea: is a 2yr old female rough coat that was taken from a breeder along with her 16 brothers and sisters by animal control and turned over to us. She has been completely vaccinated; heart worm tested, de-wormed, house trained and is in a foster home where she is learning her manners and slowly gaining some weight. Bea is a sweet girl that loves to be with people but is still a puppy with lots of energy so we recommend basic obedience training. She gets along with other dogs especially males or very mellow females. Now all Bea needs a family that will give her lots of love and attention. 9/23/2012

Chazy: is the absolute most lovable Saint you could ever meet. He simply wants love and would spend all day sitting with you and laying his head on your lap if he could. Chazy previously lived with a lady, her two children and a goat. They had to give him up due to financial problems. When Chazy came into rescue we found out that he is deaf and couldn’t see very well. He had surgery to help with his vision but he is still a little vision impaired. Because of this, Chazy is a special needs guy and will need a special adopter or foster home. Did we mention that he likes water? Just check out the photos. 9/22/2012

Jasper: This is Jasper. He’s a loving boy whose just waiting to find his forever family. He’s an Anatolian Shepherd who is about 3 years old. He loves to play with the other dogs. 9/18/2012

Harley: is a great dog, He is a short hair male. very easy going and gets along with other dogs. 9/17/2012

Sissy: This is Sissy. She’s a very quiet laid back girl. Most of the time you don’t even realize she’s around. Sissy is heartworm positive and you can start the paperwork if you would like to adopt her, but she won’t be ready to go for awhile until her treatment is done. 9/14/2012

Haley: is a longhaired female that has a wonderful personality. She gets along with other dogs – not sure about cats. She is fun loving and just wants to please everyone. She was picked up as a stray and was not well cared for. She is healthy now and ready for her new home. 9/13/2012

Zoey: is a shorthaired female that is 10 mos. old. She has been raised with livestock, dogs, cats and kids and does very well with everything. She is a sweetheart and needs a home where she will receive lots of attention. 9/13/2012

Andre: His owner had to give Andre up due to unfortunate circumstances Andre is 6 years old.. He has been properly socialized with other dogs, children and animals. Andre’s owner told us that when their goat Gabby gave birth to three kids, they were always in the watchful eyes Andre. When the momma goat abandoned her two little girls, Andre immediately adopted them, sharing his dog house with them at night. Those two little girls couldn’t go anywhere without Andre on their tails! Andre is in a wonderful foster home now and shares his time with his foster brother and his friend the cat. 9/11/2012

Missy: is around 18 month old and what a beautiful girl. Missy is very eager to please and very inquisitive. She is Angie’s “sister” from a different litter. 9/11/2012

Judge: is a 1yr old neutered male. He’s up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. He gets along with cats, dogs, and kids. He’s a little timid but he comes around quickly and really wants to please. He does take medication for a muscle condition but it doesn’t hinder him at all. 9/11/2012

Patch: (Idaho) is a really sweet old lady who is visually impaired. She is in great health though. Up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. She is small for a saint and loves to hang out in her crate. She just needs someone with a little patience to help her adjust to new surroundings. 9/11/2012

Olivia: is a 12 month old 45lb Pit Bull, that only stands 22 and 1/2 inches high at the shoulder. But she believes she is a Saint Bernard! She loves EVERYONE, even at the vet’s office all the staff, fell for her charms! Olivia thinks that ALL DOGS want to be her friend and play with her. She is FULL of energy and wares out most other dogs. Olivia needs an active person or family that will run, bike, hike, etc on a regular basis with her. She is much happier when she can be active! (But she still likes to cuddle with her person/people in the evening.) Olivia has been in foster long enough to see six Saints find their forever homes, taking it all in stride. She meets and greets new comers and they become fast friends, as she still longs for a forever home of her own. Olivia has met the semi ferrell cat that lives at her foster home (Olivia LOVES to give her kisses), and if the cat is in a running mood they will run a short ways, then Olivia will turn, and come back to see what her foster mom is doing. She Loves to play, but needs a medium or larger brother or sister to play with. (she wouldn’t hurt a smaller dog, just thinks she’s a big dog!) Olivia is crate trained up to 5 hours, and partially house trained. She has been spending 5 minutes a day on a treadmill just to learn it, and she loves it! Do you have room for SAINT SIZE LOVE in a PIT SIZE BODY? 9/10/2012

Bear: The first one is Bear, isn’t he a cutey? 9/10/2012

Nala: this is Nala She is a tri colored, full mask, shorthaired 2 yr old who lost her family due to relocation. She is spayed, micro chipped, wormed, and all her vaccinations are current. She is housebroken and has some house manners. Loves everybody. Gets along with other dogs even when they are grouchy with her. Loves her bones and treats. She is very skinny right now due to poor diet. Needs lots of groceries and lots of love. She is started in obedience and needs someone to follow thru on her training. She is a great dog. She is going to blossom into an awesome pet for someone is it you? 9/9/2012

Spike: is a 5 year old male rough coat that came to us along with his sister Roxy from an owner who said she didn’t have time for them. When I first saw Spike he was dirty, matted with burs all over him, and infection in both eyes that we thought he was blind but the vet said that when his infection clears up he should see better again. He is about 40lbs over weight. We have him on medication for her eyes and diet plus exercise to start loosing the weight. He is a so sweet and mellow, good with kids and other dogs. Spike isn’t house broke yet but we are working on it, walks good on leash, and rides great in the car. Spike is neutered, current on his vaccines, had a much needed bath so now he needs a family to love him forever. 9/5/2012

Delilah: She’s a 2-3 year old Great Pyrenees and was found wandering in the same area that Sampson was found. She was also dropped off at the Boston Terrier Rescue and Sampson and Delilah recognized each other immediately. She also has all her shots and was spayed a few days ago. She also needs to visit the groomer. I’m hoping to adopt them out together as a bonded pair if possible, but if not, they’ll adjust well anyway. Both dogs are very sweet and loving and get along very well with other dogs, cats and people. They spent the day yesterday at the Tractor Supply Event and were very calm and well behaved and had a great time. 9/3/2012

Chewy: just turned three years old today. He is a wonderful dog is house trained. Good with cats, children, and other dogs. He is not a chewer was as a pup!! So don’t put to much into the name he is a big teddy bear. He is Long hair rough coat. 9/2/2012

Bucky: Buttercup: Daisy: Lilly: Rosie: Josie is our new mama! Check out Buttercup! She has a very sweet look about her, don’t you think? This is Daisy, another of the female puppies. She looks very ladylike with her white chest and white feet, like a well-dressed lady on her way to church!! You have to agree that she is a doll baby. This is Lilly, another darling puppy belonging to Josie. Wouldn’t she look sweet on your lap, cuddling up and sleeping? Maybe you might want to stake your claim to her right now. Look at this adorable face!!! 9/2/2012

Bucky Buttercup Daisy Lilly Rosie

Sampson: He’s a 2 year old Great Pyrenees with a sad story. Someone shot him in the forehead and tossed him out on the side of the road. A couple found him and took him to the Boston Terrier Rescue in Rockwood, TN. They took him to U.T. Vet Hospital and luckily the bullet did not penetrate his skull, although he did have a nasty infection at the site. He’s totally healed up, has all his shots and has been neutered. He needs grooming. 9/1/2012

Junior: We were told he was a Saint Bernard Mix. We drove up there and picked him up and I don’t see any saint in him whatsoever. He is extremely gentle and sweet and loves all the other dogs and people. Really good with kids. He has all his shots and has been neutered. 9/1/2012

Max: Hi! I’m Max. My foster mom says I’m drop dead gorgeous. I’m just a laid back guy who wants more than anything to be a lap dog. I’m such a gentle soul that I get along with everyone from the moment we meet. I sure do like the other dogs and that cat that I’m living with right now. If you’re looking for a big, soft, ball of fur to sit on your lap and enjoy some quiet evenings, then I’m the dog for you. At the same time, I can also be the dog for a wild and crazy family full of kids! Either way, I would be a lucky dog. He has been adopted by one of our heroes who served in Iraq. He is now a disabled vet and wanted Max for a companion dog. 8/31/2012

Cowboy: and Molly: Cowboy is 4 years old and Molly just turned 1 year old this month. They are a bonded pair so must be adopted together. They lived in a home with a young child and a newborn baby. They came into rescue because the baby is allergic to dogs. They get along nicely with other dogs. 8/31/2012

Cowboy Molly

SOPHIE: is a beautiful 3-4 year-old spayed female who currently weighs in at 140 pounds. This big girl came into rescue under strange circumstances. A woman from Virginia was down in Georgia actually looking to get a poodle as she has a very bad allergy to dog dander and hair. She was in a shop and a woman came in with Sophie on a leash and burst into tears saying that she was unable to keep Sophie. The woman from Virginia was so touched that she took Sophie and brought her home to Virginia. She loved her personality and affectionate disposition, but had to take allergy pills constantly. She contacted us and we were able to find someone to foster Sophie and hopefully this leads to a “happily ever after” story. 8/30/2012

GABBY: comes to our rescue with a very sad story. She is a 6-year-old female who had never been to a vet’s office until the day she was rescued from the animal shelter. She had no shots, was heart worm positive, and never has been spayed. She received the 2 shots for the heart worm treatment and now has to spend the next 5 weeks doing no running, just laying low so the treatment can do it’s work. We don’t think keeping her quiet will be a hard job as she is pretty low energy. Her sweet face makes her so loveable. Gabby weighs about 105 pounds. She has an amazingly big head and also some big old feet! Her legs are shorter than one would expect. She gets in and out of cars with no problems and rides well. She walked well on a leash and when she was taken to a kennel, she ignored a run with yappy little dogs in it. She also simply stepped over a cat that was laying on the sidewalk that lead up to the door. While waiting to be taken to her run, a small cocker spaniel ran up to her and she ignored him completely. She is so gentle and easy going. She is going to be shaved down this week so that she will look better. The neglect she has had resulted in some really matted fur. If you think you might want to foster her, we would hope that you can keep her for the 5 weeks during which time she has to be quiet. We haven’t seen her with kids, but we would suspect that she would do fine since she is so easy going. Please consider helping out with Gabby. We could use some donations to help with her heart worm treatment costs as well as the kennel/grooming costs. She is such a sweetie and deserves a loving home. UPDATE on GABBY; Well, as you know, Gabby lead a life of neglect and was finally turned in to a local shelter. Mid-Atlantic Saint Bernard Rescue went to the shelter and took her. Because of her poor condition, she was immediately taken to a vet where she received the 2 shot treatment for heart worms. She was then taken to a local shelter (Gone to The Dogs) in Topping, VA where the staff fell in love with her and really looked after her for about 10 days. We then had a young man who wanted to foster her, but at the last minute backed out. The next day a foster was located in MD and so she was driven to meet her new foster mom. Later that evening, we received a call that she had snapped at one of her children who was leaning down over her to try to kiss her on the nose. So another phone call was made and the third foster who was interested in helping with Gabby stepped up and picked her up the next day. A few hours after she was settling into her new foster home, the foster mom heard her cry and went to look and found that she had jumped out of a screened in window on the second floor. She rushed her to a local vet who x-rayed her and said that her right front leg was badly broken. The foster mom drove her up to the vet that our president uses, Dr. Petros, and he assumed her care. She needed more x-rays and it was found that her leg was broken in 3 places and she will need surgery that will cost in excess of $2400. Unfortunately we do not have that kind of money in our treasury and really need some donations to help with the payment for her care. The kennel that had her before has stepped up and said they would foster her during her recuperation and do so for free to help reduce the costs. Linda who owns Gone To The Dogs is a true animal lover and will have stars in her crown when she goes to heaven. SO please see fit to send a few dollars to help with Gabby’s care. She has been through so much that she deserves a chance at a good life. Once she has recuperated at the kennel, we will be looking for a loving forever home for this sweet girl. Up-date June 15, 2012– We have posted updated pictures of Gabby from the last several days. She is up and around via a sling. She is only able to be sling walked at this point. We are walking her on short walks to keep her from losing muscle. She has made a lot of progress over the last 2 days. She ended up having 1 screw and 2 pins, as well as a tendon fused in her front right leg. This has been a huge deal for this saint, and she is such a wonderful girl there is no question we took the right course of action. We are also happy to report that she has no internal injuries. The right front leg sustained all the damage. She has a very long road to recovery. She will be in the hospital at least another 10 days. A BIG THANK YOU FOR THE VERY GENEROUS DONATIONS WE HAVE RECEIVED FOR GABBY. We still need donations please keep Gabby in your thoughts and prayers. Up-date 6/24/2012; Gabby continues to do well after her surgery. She is working on putting weight on her leg when she walks. A BIG THANK YOU TO VIVIAN STRAUME . SHE HAS SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS WITH GABBY AT THE VET HOSPITAL. She donated a custom leather harness for Gabby so she could walk easier, this has been a huge help in her recovery. A special note about Vivian, she adopted a special Saint named Elwood from us in 2005 when his previous owner was killed in a car accident very suddenly. Elwood missed his previous life terribly til Vivian came along. Thanks to her love, kindness, and commitment to him he was able to move on and have a super life. She even moved to a bigger house for his comfort when she adopted him. He passed away recently. We thank her for the kindness she has shown Gabby it has made Gabby feel special. Also words cannot express our GRATITUDE to all the special people who helped us with this. Thank you Debbie, Julia, Ashley, Drs Petros and Walker, Wendy, and Linda at All about Dogs. From the beginning of Gabby’s ordeal, there was a woman who faithfully emailed to see how she was doing. She just felt a connection with this darling dog. Finally when Gabby was healed enough to go to a home, she went home with Laura, her email guardian angel. We wish them both well and hope for updates. 8/30/2012

New 6/15/2012 6/24/2012

Hank: 5 year old Bull Mastiff named Hank. He belongs to the transportation coordinator of the Boston Terrier Rescue. She has offered to do transports for us. Hank weighs 150 pounds. He’s gets along great with dogs and loves cats. He’s a sweetheart who loves to cuddle. Diana’s husband has had a lot of health issues and they don’t have the strength to take care of him anymore. I told her I would help find him the perfect furever home. He also is UTD on shots and is neutered. 8/28/2012

Sinva: is a neutered, 4 or so year old Mastiff/Saint Bernard mix. He weighs about 120 lbs, and is negative for heartworms (completed treatment), and is now on monthly flea/heartworm preventative. His shots are up to date, and is is well mannered in the car and on a leash! He is not a big drooler (except for mealtimes), and is not destructive in the house (no crating necessary). He is fine with cats, but can be dominant so would be best as an “only” dog. Children should be older (10+). Sinva can climb a chain link fence, so should have hot wire or a wood fence. He is afraid of FEET, so this boy is no footrest! Sinva is just a way chill, easy to get along with dog. He knows most of his obedience commands (they’re rusty though!) as well as some other ones like, “high five,” and, “go away,” when you have company over or you’re done giving him attention. He eats about 6 cups of food a day and that maintains a very healthy size. 8/25/2012

Delilah: is a wonderful 19 week puppy mostly housebroken does have some accidents but well on her way. She knows the command of sit and shake. She is a sweet puppy and now needs a home that she can grow and grow and grow in for many years. Please remember that Saint Bernard’s are very cute pups and adults but they can get to be 180lbs full grown and they drool and shed. I am looking for a family that is well aware of this so that she will be forever. She is well behaved and needs to have a family that will give her boundaries and training that she can live up to her breed name a “Saint” She has had all her puppy shots. 8/22/2012

Molly: (Sisterdale, TX) is approx 3.5 yrs old. Spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, HW negative, spayed and microchipped . Very sweet, playful, loves to go for car rides and housebroken. Not good around cats, chickens etc anything she can chase! Gets along well with large farm animals and other dogs. Loves to stay right by your side, a very loyal dog! 8/21/2012

Osita: is a 10 month old female smooth coat that came to us from an owner release. She is good with kids and other dogs both big and small. When her foster mom picked her up she was a little shy but she has been to PetSmart several times now and loving it when people stop to pet her. Osita love’s to have her belly rubbed and her ears itched, she also loves to give kisses. She is house broke, walks ok on leash but is learning to walk better, and she loves to play ball. She spayed, current on her vaccines but being young girl we recommend additional training. 8/20/2012

Willy: & Molly: are two owner surrendered Saints that found their way to rescue when their owner became unable to care for them due to medical issues. They are very bonded to one another, and need to be adopted as a pair. Willy is a big boy, probably 4-5 years old. He is neutered, tested negative for heartworms, and has been vaccinated. He is housebroken. Molly is older (6-8 years?), and has been spayed. She is also vaccinated, but unlike her “boyfriend” Willy, she unfortunately, tested positive for heartworms. Molly is also housebroken. They are both sweet and loving, and get along with other dogs well, and tolerate cats (with supervision still for Willy). Molly does not do well when separated from Willy, so the right family needs to have a home and heart big enough for 2! The pair is being fostered in the DFW area. 8/19/2012

Trisket: My name is Trisket. I’m an adorable, 2 year old Saint Bernard. The family who loved me brought me to the shelter because they had to move and no pets were allowed. I am so not aggressive and get along with other dogs and cats. Up to date on shots. 8/19/2012

Franny: is a year old Saint. She’s already spayed, housebroken, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs and good with cats. 8/19/2012

Leroy: his age is estimated between 1 to 2 years old. Leroy seems to like other dogs and ignores the cats that we have had him near. Leroy knows his basic commands and walks well on a leash. Very affectionate. Leroy is also a very energetic dog that when running and playing often ends up airborne. He is such a love and joy. Come meet Leroy and you will fall in love. 8/17/2012

Swoop: is about 5 years old and if you’re a sports person, you know he was named after the Philadelphia Eagles mascot. He has indicated he really doesn’t mind if you want to change his name. Seriously. Okay, kidding aside, Swoop is a very nice loving, gentle and playful guy. He has the original Saint Bernard short haired coat and he doesn’t drool very much either. Swoop was raised around young children, he likes other dogs, loves everyone and very much likes to play. He is pictured here with his fellow rescue buddy, Zoe, on one of their daily walks. 8/17/2012

Bella: she is a 4 year old who is living with a women that can no longer take cake care of her. She has been around children and has been around other dogs but not for the past year. She loves to play and have fun. She does need some work on a leash she does pull a bit. This dog very much needs to move out of the home Bella doesn’t want to but is causing this women to trip over her. 8/15/2012

Steeler: is a 2 1/2 year old neutered male with the attitude of a teenager he is a great dog but needs direction and guidance. He is protective of the people around him but is fine once he is introduced to people. Steeler would do best in a calm house with little traffic in and out. He doesn’t do well with cats and is fine with medium size dogs as long as he is introduced. 8/15/2012

Raven: is 2 1/2 old female spayed she also is like a teenager she is a great dog. She needs to be taught the boundaries and rules. She can be a bit stubborn but loves to share the kisses and loves to go on walks. she should be in a house with no cats, older children, and dog at least medium size. 8/11/2012

Blair: is a 2 yo spayed female smooth coat. She’s a love bug. Happy dog to be o/o the shelter in west Ga. 8/10/2012

Teddy: Meet Teddy, an Albino Saint Bernard. He was just two on Valentine’s Day and is a love. He is longhaired, with a pink nose and eyes so he has to be sheltered from the sun. He is neutered and up to date on shots, Heartworm negative and ready to go to his new home. He has not been around other dogs and we don’t know about cats. He loves attention and is learning to walk on a leash. He will need obedience training and is easily correctable. Teddy should not go to a family with small children as he is easily excitable. Large breed experience is a must for this guy. 8/10/2012

Jenny: is a short haired, St Bernard, on the small side, young and beautifully marked. Best guess is that she is about three years old. She is very willing and has a wish to please. Jenny gets along with other dogs, cats and horses, although with female dogs she wants to be the dominant. She is good with children, but not with young men. She is very afraid of young men (teens/20’s). She has the run of 40 acres at the moment and sticks around at all times. She is still working on learning her name and to come when called by her name. She is nervous inside the house, although she likes the warmth and does settle down after about 10 minutes. She is very fond of small spaces, and will try to find the smallest space she can to hang out in the house. Jenny is a very sweet girl and wants to go home with you today. 8/10/2012

Rip: & Cleo: Hi! We are just the lively pair you have been looking for! I’m Rip (1/2 saint, 1/2 great dane) and I am an almost 2 yr old boy. I come with Cleo, my female counterpart, who is full Saint. She is almost 2 as well. We are silly, fun loving, very bonded to each other, and ready for your family! We love everyone and everything, and are well adjusted and healthy. We love to hike, swim, or just hang out at home. 8/9/2012

Rip Cleo

Lady: Lady just came into our program, she is 3 1/2 yrs old. She loves being with another dog and is a real player! IF you are looking for an agility dog she is your girl! She just needs a heart worm test then she can go to her new home. She is a little shy with large men, and with beards. She is a small girl that may not get up the usual Saint Bernard weight when full grown. She loves to give lady’s kisses and is a real sweet girl. Lady Has had her heart worm test and it is neg. 8/8/2012

Gus: is a 4yo neutered male smooth coat. His owners feel they do not have enough time for him. He lives in N. Central Alabama and is looking for a forever home. 8/7/2012

Mel: is a 1 year old male rough coat. He is a very sweet boy that was released to us by his owner who could no longer care of him. He is neutered, micro chipped, house trained, and current on all his vaccines. He is a big sweet boy that loves people, and loves to play with other dogs. Mel is still a puppy with lots of energy so we recommend obedience training along with lots of love. Mel is just waiting for a family to give him the love and attention that he deserves forever. 8/6/2012

Skeeter: Meet Skeeter He is a 5 month old love bug!! He is well started on housebreaking. He is neutered and all vaccinations are up to date. He is wormed and micro chipped. This little guy is so easy to fall in love with. He is a cuddle bug. The hard part is not letting him get away with anything you don’t want a big dog to be doing at 150 lbs!!! He is a joy to be around. He has all the puppy exuberance one would expect. LOVES toys. Loves everybody and everything. Crate training will be a must!! He has yet to hit his teething stage. Needs a consistent hand and a soft touch. Is going to be quite the clown with the expressions he is already exhibiting. Past big dog experience a must. 8/5/2012

Zoe: a longhaired female that just turned seven in May. She is the “princess” and has been well taken care of. Her owners are devastated on the thought of having to give her up but the allergies are unbearable for the wife. She is good with cats and other dogs but will want attention when others are around. Zoe is housebroken and does well on car rides. She enjoys her walks and being petted. Would make a wonderful companion dog. She has been raised with small children from two to twelve. Will you be the family that will continue to give Zoe a good life? 7/29/2012

Jasper: who will be two on July 21st. He is a longhaired young man and has been well taken care of. He needs to find his new home due to the living conditions of his present owner. Jasper is housetrained and the only bad habit reported is that he is a “leaner” which is to be expected as it is a Saintly trait. He loves his car rides and belly rubs. Jasper has not been exposed to children so a family with older children would be fine. Jasper is looking forward to his new forever home. He is good with other dogs but has not been exposed to cats.7/29/2012

Sergio: is a rough coat, male Saint Bernard. He is 2,1/2 years old and weighs about 135 lbs. He is neutered, micro-chipped, heartworm negative, and up to date on his shots. Sergio is energetic and playful, and would benefit from some basic obedience lessons. He is good with other dogs, but we don’t know how he is with cats because he hasn’t been around them. He is friendly toward people, but because of his exuberance would be best suited in a home without young children. Sergio is a good looking, friendly, playful young dog in need of a loving forever home. 7/29/2012

Isis: is a full grown short hair Saint Bernard, roughly around 2 years of age. She looks regal when she is at a full stance. She is a beautiful loving lady. She is kennel trained, although she WILL get bored and act out. She sleeps in the Kennel perfectly all night, but it is not recommended for the daytime. Generally she stays in the yard but the fence needs to be checked periodically for spots she can get through. She shows no signs of digging but she does lean her considerable weight on the fences. Isis has to have exercise every day. She builds up lots of energy if she doesn’t get outside to burn it off. At night she is happy and content to lay at your feet. She is fabulous with children over 2, no baby experience. Occasionally she forgets that she is so big when she lay’s with the kids. As a general rule she does not chase cats, but occasionally the urge gets the best if the cat’s runs, but not aggressive, she is easily called back. Currently she lives around farms and ranches and has made no attempt to chase the horses or cows. At night Isis is perfectly happy to lay with her head in your lap. She is very loving and giving. She does great in the truck/car. She loves to be with her owner, loves to go on hikes, walks, never seen the beach. She is an incredible dog for an outgoing family. 7/29/2012

Josh: an almost two year old longhaired male. Josh came into rescue via the shelter. He was one of many that are sold on Craig’s list that end up going from home to home. Josh is a sweet and gentle guy but understandable a little confused as to where he is and where he is going next. Josh needs a family that is around most of the time until he knows where he belongs. He has had some obedience training, is decent on a leash, loves to be brushed and loves to play. We don’t know how is with other dogs as of yet and a home with older children would be preferable. He also appears to be housebroken. Recently neutered, up to date on shots, HW negative and micro chipped. Are you the lucky family to have Josh come into your lives and his forever home? 7/29/2012

BO: Meet Bo He is a 14 mos old neutered male who is housebroken and has manners. He came into rescue thru no fault of his own, owner surrender. He is good with kids, dogs, and cats. Definitely not an alpha. Wants attention and will sell his dog food dish for a belly rub. Loves treats and mealtimes. He is current on vaccinations and wormings. He is micro chipped. He will make someone a wonderful faithful friend Is it you? 7/29/2012

Briscoe: is a 3 year old male saint bernard/Newfoundland cross. He is a big boy, but very long and lean. Briscoe is a sweet and affectionate boy, but does love to play and has energy. He is good with most other dog, but can show some dominance with other dominant males, so a home with a female dog would be best, or another passive male. He is great with all people, but does tend to show a lot of interest in cats, so he would be best in a cat free home. He knows his basic obedience, but would still benefit from formal obedience classes with his adopter. The set back for Briscoe right now is that he has terrible hips at his young age, so he will be undergoing surgery to help him live a more comfortable life. Once we are able to raise the funds to do the surgery he will need a few months to recover before he can formally be adopted. At this time we will consider a foster home with the potential to adopt as long as they are local to Amsterdam, NY so that he can see our vet regularly through the process. If interested in fostering and/or adopting Briscoe please contact us. We also need help with funding his surgeries if your able to help with a monetary donation. All donations are tax deductible. 7/28/2012

Sophie: is a beautiful 3-4 year old rough coat female saint. She is getting accustomed to being a house dog as unfortunately the only life she knew before rescue was being attached to a dog house and not getting much attention. She is a sweet girl and good with other dogs except when it comes to food. She is very interested in human food and because of this we recommend a home with older children (12+). She would love a fenced in yard and would be good with a submissive canine companion. She does need a cat free home though as she thinks kitties are a cool toy to play with. Sophie is also a little hard of hearing, so she should never be let off leash to roam about for safety sake. 7/28/2012

BERNIE: is a two-year-old neutered male. He has beautiful markings on his rough coat (long hair). He has been neutered. He came into rescue as a stray so his past is largely unknown. He is good with other dogs. Bernie is friendly and active. He will benefit from obedience training, including proper leash behavior. Bernie has a very inquisitive nature and likes to go visiting. A fenced yard would be recommended. 7/27/2012

Peachy: is an 18 month old female who is great with children, other dogs and cats. She has all her shots and will be spayed upon adoption. 7/26/2012

ZIPPY: is a sweetie! He is 11-1/2 years old and really does not look a day over 10!!! He has a wonderful temperament. Those who meet him can’t really resist his laid back, easy going way about him. 7/26/2012

Maddie: is a 180lbs dog who is dealing with being separated from her family. She misses them a great deal Maddie has been raised with children. She is a big dog but a big teddy bear. 7/20/2012

TUCKER: Please say hello to TUCKER!! He is an absolutely beautiful 4-year-old smooth coated male. As you can see from the pictures, he is beautifully marked, well proportioned, and just a great specimen of a Saint Bernard. Tucker weighs about 130 pounds and could afford to put a few pounds on him to fill him out. His short hair is truly a blessing during these hot months, and in general he requires less maintenance because his fur can’t get matted . He loves pretty much everybody and every thing. If he finds anybody to pet him, he will lean against them as if he is looking for a permanent attachment. Tucker is very gentle and as with most Saint Bernards, he really does not have any idea of his size and would not mind becoming a lap dog if you let him. All Tucker really wants is somebody to love him and a soft sofa or rug for him to roll over on in preparation for any passing belly rubs. Please give a call to learn more about Tucker. 7/17/2012

Charlie (Charleen): Meet Charlie (Charleen) She is just 18 mos old. She was an owner surrender due to eviction. Her face coloring is what’s called a half mask. Cute as a bugs ear . She is one of the sweetest dogs. She is a dominate alpha female but gets along with males. Loves to run and play, but calms right down in the house. She is spayed and all shots are current. She is micro chipped and wormed. She needs a family to bond with who will give her lots of attention and plenty of treats and belly rubs. She is going to make a dynamite family dog given the right family. 7/17/2012

Dreyfus: The family needs to move out and it is to a place were we can’t take him with us. He is a lovable dog, friendly and happy dog. He is good with other dogs and cats, he is living with my other three dogs and two cats.. He is also good with children, he lives with a 3 and 9 years old they play with him constantly with no problem. The family is so sad they can’t keep him anymore, so we are looking for a very good home for him. 7/11/2012

Sandy: was found her along side the road in Spring Grove about to be hit by a car. They took her in but couldn’t keep her because of having 3 other dogs. She is very friendly and loves being outdoors. She gets along with other dogs. I was told that she is 2 and doesn’t like squeaky toys. 7/11/2012

Blue: is a 3 month old male Saint puppy. He got his name from blue paint? nail polish? that was all over his feet when he came into rescue. Blue was surrendered by his family, as they were unable to care for him properly, and unfortunately he came up sick shortly after his arrival into rescue. He had to be hospitalized for several days. Blue is on the road to recovery now, but will need some TLC to get him back to his bouncy, playful puppy self. Blue is being fostered in the DFW area. If you are not interested in adopting a puppy, (yes they ARE alot of work), please consider sending a donation, as Blue’s medical bills have been over $1000 to date. Thanks! More photos will follow once Blue is back to feeling better! 7/9/2012

Rocky: is estimated to be about 3 years old. He is current on all vaccines, and tested negative for heartworms. Rocky is a large Saint, who will weigh 150 lbs+ once fattened up, and he is a smooth coat. He gets along well with other dogs, and pays no attention to cats. He will use a doggy door, and is housebroken. He hasn’t had alot of training, and will need some basic obedience and leash work, but he seems very willing to learn. Rocky is starved for attention, and does have some separation issues when left alone (he jumped a four foot fence in search of his foster mom), so he will do best with a family who is home alot (and has a tall secure fence), to give him some reassurance that he won’t be abandoned. Rocky will be a gorgeous addition to some lucky family. He will be available for adoption as soon as we get his ear infection cleared up, and get him neutered. He is being fostered in the Denton, TX area. 7/9/2012

Annabelle: Annabelle is about as sweet as a dog can be! Her foster parents feel that Annabelle’s goal in life is to be petted by every person who walks by her. She is such a love bug: she loves adults, children of all ages, dogs and cats. She is 9-years-old and is, of course, spayed, up to date on her shots, housebroken and was just given a clean bill of health on a recent vet visit. Annabelle weighs between 110 and 120 pounds. She walks well on a leash and really enjoys riding in a car. On a recent 4 hour trip, she napped for 2 hours and looked out the window for the remainder of the trip. Annabelle is not really into playing with toys. She would much rather sitting at (or on) your feet and having her head scratched or petted. Miss Annabelle has never met a stranger. She would make a wonderful addition to your family. While she wants tons of love from you, she has even more to give back to you. 7/8/2012

Bosco: Meet Bosco. He’s a sweet, silly 10 month old puppy! He’s long haired, a bit skinny for his tall frame but is happy go lucky and willing to please his family. He gets a long well with other large dogs, is curious about kids and is good with children. He is neutered and up to date on shots and is heartworm negative. So far he’s not too fond of stairs and will need a home without many. A successful applicant will have giant breed experience, a fenced yard and will be willing to go through a positive based obedience class. 7/7/2012

Shelby: Shelby just came into our program, she is about 3 yrs old. She loves being with people and other dogs, she does not like to be alone! She still needs to see our vet before being adopted as she needs to be spayed and have her dew claws removed. she should be ready for a new home by May 1st. 7/6/2012

Buddy: Buddy is 7 yrs old in April of this year. He is a real love! and a very laid back easy going guy. He needs to learn how to get into a car. And gets along with other dogs. 7/6/2012

Rosie A: Rosie is a very sweet dog, she is shy at first meetings then gets along fine with people, we are told she gets along with cats, and is house broken. She gets scared by loud noises, such as fireworks, or gun shots. She up to date on her shots, and is Heart worm free. She is a great car rider, and a very gentle girl! 7/6/2012

Bernie: is around three years old and he has a gorgeous red and white coat. Bernie has been introduced to little Violet and they have a great time playing together. He has also met the house cat and has no issues with him. Bernie loves people and is a fun loving guy who also loves belly rubs. 7/6/2012

Zeus: is a 2 year old male saint. He’s an owner surrender and don’t know much about him yet. I’m looking for either a foster or a forever home for him. The only thing the shelter could tell me is that he’s very large. 7/6/2012

Marley: Hi i am Marley. I am a very handsome Saint, about 3 years old. I weigh 105 pounds, as you can see my markings are very nice. I need to gain a few pounds still. My foster Mom & Dad drove from North Carolina to Richmond, Virginia to get me so i could have a safe and fun place to live. I am a very happy boy! I now have a brother: he is a 13 year old Bassett Hound and he mostly just barks and sleeps, and also i have a sister who is a 6 year old Shih Tzu. We take strolls around the yard and take naps together. I went to visit my new neighbors home and boy what a treat: chickens, goats, and these 3 big cows. Dad wouldn’t let me chase them though i sure wanted to. For the most part for being a 2 year old, I’m pretty laid back. I enjoy short walks, love to be hugged and loved on. I choose to sleep next to my fosters bed. My foster Dad and i are going to classes to fine tune my manners so when i get to my fur-ever home i will be the next thing to sliced cheese, so my Dad says. I have a problem with my eyes. i have glaucoma. For now i get drops put in my eyes, it is not my favorite thing, but i can see and that is a good thing! I am up to date with my shots and heart worm preventative. I would love to have a home with a fence, possibly a four legged buddy to pal around with would also be great, or i could be your big old teddy bear, and for heaven sakes, don’t forget the treats! I COULD BE YOUR DREAM COME TRUE! 7/2/2012

CALLA: & LILLY: These 2 girls came into rescue after they were found wandering on the side of a busy road in Southwest Virginia. Thanks to the good folks at Bedford Va. Animal Control they were not hit by a car. These ladies appear to be mother and daughter, or at least relatives. They are bonded and need to be placed together. They are a true delight. They love car rides, treats, and belly rubs. They are learning to play with toys. The age breakdown is as follows; older one is 2-3 years old. The younger one is a little less than a year. Both have done well in fostercare and we would like to find them their forever home. Both are fully vetted, and very healthy. Please consider them and we promise you they are a lot of fun to have around. They will liven up your home as well as your life! 7/2/2012

Lilly Calla

Joe: is a St mix that is in a foster home with WSBR. He is 18 mo. Gets along well with other dogs, loves to play ! Learning to walk on leash. Wants to “hug” people. 6/30/2012

Buddy: is one the St’s from the hoarding situation. And is in a foster home with another dog. He is think, but a sweet boy He will go outside, but wants to come right back in the house with you ! He walks well on leash, is being crate trained and will be neutered soon. He will need to continue his basic training when he finds his forever home. 6/30/2012

Roscoe: is a purebred 160-lb, 4-year old smooth coat Saint Bernard with a full mantle and mask. He is a gorgeous specimen of dog–turns heads wherever he goes. He is fully housetrained and well-behaved in the house. He loves having a purpose–training, hiking, working for affection. He is very obedient and loves to please. He loves all people, but is particularly fond of men. While in the house he is mostly a couch potato, he would do best in a home with a strong owner who keeps him active. He is happier that way! He doesn’t do well with other dogs, small animals or children under 10. 6/26/2012

Tyson: Hi, my name is Tyson and I am a handsome 3 1/2 year old smooth coat male. Although Im tall, I am a bit slender so a few pounds on me wouldn’t hurt. My family is having a very difficult time right now and so they just dont have enough time for me so I spend most of my day in a pen in the garage, watching my 7 and 8 year old little girls play and it makes me sad. I get along with other dogs and I like children and I wouldn’t THINK of going to the bathroom in the house, but I haven’t been around cats much so I should be introduced slowly to them or maybe not at all. I LOVE to go on walks, although I’m a little pushy on a leash; I enjoy running and playing and I will lean on you and give lots of kisses. Did I mention I am really quiet too! Do you have a place for me? It would be so great to come home with you and not have to go into a foster home! 6/26/2012

Murphy: is a four year old shorthaired male. Per his previous owner, he is a fairly active boy and enjoys his walks and especially loves the hose and water. Gets along with other dogs and has been exposed to cats with good results. Murphy is housetrained and has received some obedience training. He has been living with an almost two year old child to date but his family doesn’t have the time for him. Will you be the one that offers Murphy his forever home? 6/26/2012

Chester: is full of personality! He loves to talk to people, go for walks or just hang out. Chester may be 10 years old, but he keeps up with the 2 and 4 year old that are in foster with him. He really thinks he is a youngster! He’s good with female dogs, and has lived with cats (per his previous owner). Chester is a VERY sweet boy, who is just looking for a loving home to spend his retirement in. 6/26/2012

Shilo: I am a pure breed Saint Bernard, believed to be around 2 years of age. I have already had a litter of puppies this past year. I am the sweetest big moose you have ever seen. I love my people. Give me a little love and I become your best friend, all I want to do in life is care for my family. I am now with my new foster family with a bunch of foster brothers and sisters. I live with a Mom, a Dad, and two children, who are under 10. I also live with 2 other Saint Bernard’s; we are a social breed, and several other dogs from a Chihuahua to a Eurasian with many in between. I really don’t mind cats, here they curl up in my fur. My foster family has yet to find a friend I don’t like. I have had a hard life though. I came from a home who only wanted my puppies. My first vet visit I was 62 lbs. well underweight. I get very nervous around loud noise, if I don’t understand what is asked of me I will lay on my back. I will make some family a great pet, but I need a lot of patience. 6/26/2012

Samson: is a Shorthaired male that will be five years old this month. He was turned into rescue due to his size. We had to have some surgery done for him after he was turned in but he is doing fine now. He is not a dog that can hike for miles. He was around children in his previous home. He loves going for walks and according to his previous owner, he is housetrained. He loves any and all attention and is just an all around nice dog. A true Saintly couch potato. 6/26/2012

Ryley: This is Ryley She is 3 yrs old spayed Microchipped wormed, and all vaccinations are current. She is housebroken and crate trained. She is a doll. She has been with other dogs and cats and seems to get along pretty well loves kids, but has a habit of rolling over on your feet so she might be better with sturdy older kids. She has a very gentle spirit and is easily hurt with loud angry voices. She responds like melting butter to a soft gentle voice. She walks well on leash and loves to be brushed however she does try to help! She has been responding well to the upgraded diet and looks forward to feeding times. She has been starved for affection but is responding well and is learning temperance. Her only fault is her curiosity for chickens so would be best for either no chickens or no contact with them. She is learning what treats are loves them. Does not know what toys are for. LOVES belly rubs! 6/26/2012

Hailey: Hi. My name is Hailey. I am 4 and I love all dogs and cats. I’m very docile and walk well on a leash, I love my mommy but she can’t take me where she’s moving. I love kida and I barely ever drool too. Love me like I deserve, I am trained and a good girl. 6/23/2012

Major: (Houston, TX) is estimated to be about 3 years old. He was found wandering the streets of Houston looking for food. Major is good with other dogs and likes children. He is timid around men, so he may have been abused by a male during his time as a stray, or perhaps a mean man was his prior owner. Major has had his vaccines, and tested negative for heartworms. He has been started on flea and heartworm prevention, and will go to a new family with his crate and toys. Major is currently located in the Houston area. 6/19/2012

Bruno: Are you looking for a very sweet, gentle, loving, playful, gets along with everyone of all ages, likes dogs, likes cats and all around GREAT Saint? Bruno is your guy! Bruno just turned six years old and he even has short hair for those wanting the original Saint Bernard look. Bruno is very gentle and loving but he also is up for playtime with the family. He likes to race around with you and can even jump straight up in the air, which is pretty amazing considering he is a big guy that weighs in at 180 pounds. He is pictured here with his new friend, fellow rescue “Dakota”. 6/18/2012

Louie: is a four year old Newfoundland male. He is neutered and up to date with his shots Louie is a lover he loves everyone and everything. If he had to name his three favorite things they would be; 1) napping 2) being petted 3) eating Louie is house broken and has lovely inside dog manners. Besides being beautiful, he will just make a wonderful addition to your family. 6/18/2012

Marcus: Looking for a good companion, Markus is right up your alley! He weighs between 130 and 140 pounds and is between 4 and 5-years-old. His foster parents feel that he really wants to be good, but just is not sure how to do it. He needs to be in a home where there are clear rules of behavior. Someone with large breed experience would be an ideal owner. He lives in a foster home with 5 other Saint Bernards and a Newfie, all getting along well together. Markus loves being brushed and bathed. He walks well on a leash and enjoys riding in a car. We would suggest that he does not go to a home with cats as he tends to view them as menu items! Markus loves having his belly rubbed. He really enjoys getting as much attention as you can give him. Ideally he would probably do best in a home where he is the only pet so he can soak up as much love as possible. “Markie-Mark” loves to play with stuffed animals and never has turned down the opportunity to play tug of war. What are Markus’ two favorite things to do? He likes either being your lap dog or your foot rest as long as he can be close to his loving owner. Please call and find out more information about Markus and arrange for a meeting you won’t be disappointed. 6/18/2012

Sunshine: Sunshine is a very sweet 4 to 5-year-old spayed female. She is up to date on her shots and is on heartworm and flea medications. This sweet girl loves to be around people. She would love nothing better than to be your lap dog, even tough she weighs between 100 and 110 pounds. What a great companion she is! She will follow you around the house, always hoping for a head pat or a belly rub. “Sunny” rides well in cars and walks well on a leash. She is currently being fostered in a home with 5 other Saint Bernards and a Newfie and gets along very well with the other dogs. Sunshine likes to chase cats if they are nearby; if they are in the distance, she doesn’t pay them any mind. She also really wants to chasse the deer who run through the property. Sunny has not had much experience in playing with toys and really doesn’t know what to do with a squeeky toy. Sunshine’s current foster parents feel that she is very trainable. In a very short period of time, she has learned that she is not allowed in the kitchen when meals are being prepared and always lays down just outside the kitchen limits. She also has learned that she is not allowed on furniture or the bed and this was learned very quickly. Sunshine really loves to be hosed down in the backyard and scrubbed and bathed until she is fresh and clean. Sunshine knows her name and comes when called or when she hears a quick whistle. The foster family feels that she would do very well with someone who has experience with a large breed dog. She seems to thrive having structure, being told what she can and cannot do. Please call and ask for more information on this sweet young lady. She has beauty and brains a super combination!!! 6/18/2012

Tiny Tim: was adopted a month or so ago, but now his family is being sent to Japan with the Marines and they can’t take him with them. They are being deployed in a few weeks, so this adoption needs to take place as quick as possible. They are so sad because he fit into his family sooo well. As you can see, he is a beautifully marked young male who turned 2 in August. So he is still a puppy at heart. When he was rescued, he only weighed 70 pounds and was very undernourished. He now weighs 131 pounds and is looking great. He loves to go for rides in the car. He also loves to be brushed. Tiny Tim also really really loves bones from the butcher at the super market. Besides the “real” bones, he is just crazy about the toys in which you can hide treats. He is getting pretty good at figuring them out. Tiny also loves to walk on a leash and is doing very well with that. When he was in his foster home, he did very well with the 7-year-old granddaughter of the foster parents. Now in his adopted home, he and their 18-month-old daughter love each other She climbs on his and loves him as much as possible. Finally, Tiny Tim really needs to be adopted by someone who has a fenced yard. He loves to run, most likely because most of his life before coming into rescue was limited to being tied on a chain in somebody’s backyard. So now that he is feeling better with his weight gain, he has the energy to want to run whenever possible. This big boy loves finding sticks in the yard and carrying them around. Tiny Tim is one sweet boy. He would make a wonderful addition to your family. Tiny has shown that he gets along with other dogs and with cats according to his current owner. 6/15/2012

Raven: (F) & Steeler (M): Brother and Sister they are in different foster homes so they are fine to be separated. They are 2 years old. They have been great around children and other dogs. They have been neutered and spayed and UTD on Shots. Very well behaved dogs and would be great to join any family! 6/5/2012

Steeler

Fiona: she is a 6m old puppy. She is up to date on shots and will need to be spayed in the near future. She has a wonderful personality does well around dogs, cat, and children. Family bought her on a impulse for their child and know realizes that they are unable to give her the attention she deserves. 6/5/2012

Abby: is a 2 year old large St. Bernard. She is probably a mix but looks like a Saint. She is very friendly enjoys all the attention. She walks well on a leash with a no pull harness. She is healthy – she has had eye surgery and will need drops to keep her eyes healthy. She is a very large Saint. She loves car rides and runs and plays. She knows simple commands of sit, lay, stay and come. She is very obedient know the word no and loves praise and affection. She is good with children. Please consider Abby as a dog forever dog for your family. 6/5/2012

BEAU: is a sweet 5-year-old male who loves attention. He is so loveable and really is an attention hound. You just can’t love him too much. Beau loves to please and would make a great addition to your family. Please call and check on him. He truly aims to please. 6/3/2012

CRUISER: has a story that is really hard to take. He was recently turned into a shelter in Virginia at the tender age of ten and a half years old. All Cruiser wants is a place to call home, a soft place to sleep, some good food and somebody to love him. He is amazingly gentle and friendly. As you can tell from the photos, his fur is remarkably thick and matted and will have to be shaved down for the summer. Cruiser is, of course, neutered. SPECIAL THANKS go out to Orange County Animal Shelter who took such good care of Cruiser, updating his shots and patiently working with the rescue group so we could get Cruiser picked up and start work on finding him a loving home. 6/3/2012

BAILEY: is a lovely 5-6 year old spayed female who is looking for a forever home. She was originally purchased from a breeder. Her owner was planning on making money selling Saint puppies Bailey had 2 litters and then was unable to produce any more, so her owner dumped her on his ex-wife The ex-wife did not like the dog and did not treat her very well. Several times the neighbors called Animal Control to report the poor conditions that Bailey was living in. Rather than surrendering the dog, she paid the fine and continued her mistreatment. This happened several times. How she finally got into rescue is not clear to me, but fortunately we now have her and are able to give her the loving attention she so deserves. Bailey weighs about 125 pounds. She is crate trained. She is also housetrained. Bailey loves rides in the car. She is all about getting all the affection she possibly can. She is currently being treated for an ear infection. She is good with kids and people. Please call to get more information on Bailey. 6/3/2012

MARIO: is one handsome little guy. He was born in April, 2011, and just celebrated his first birthday. Mario and his sister Peaches are victims of the economy. Their owners lost their home to foreclosure and could not find any place to live that would allow them to have 2 big furballs! Mario is currently being fostered after being able to fun free on a large farm in Louisa, VA. He is having problems staying inside his foster parents’ yard because they have a very low fence. Mario is not willing to go into a crate unless he is bribed. He is able to stay in the crate overnight and does not soil his crate. Mario is described by his foster mom as being very friendly and sweet. He doesn’t have much interest in toys. She says that he is very outgoing and loves being around children (age range 4 to 9) and loves to follow them around. Mario is a pretty typical Saint Bernard, mind mannered and low key and likes to just lay around. He has not tried to get up on furniture. Mario appears to be housebroken. Mario has to be coaxed into the car but once in he likes to sit up and look out the window. His foster mom thinks he weighs between 90 and 100 pounds so Mario is on the road to being a very big boy! He will be neutered and have his shots up to date before his adoption is final. 6/3/2012

Mario & Peachy

PEACHY: is one of the prettiest little girl Saint Bernards you will come across. She was born in April, 2011, and just celebrated her first birthday. Peachy and her brother, Mario, are victims of the economy. Their owners lost their home to foreclosure and could not find any place to live that would allow them to have 2 big furballs! Peachy is currently being fostered after being able to fun free on a large farm in Louisa, VA and she is having problems staying inside her foster parents’ yard because they have a very low fence. Peachy is not willing to go into a crate. Her foster mom describes her as being very timid and seems to be afraid of everything Her foster mom wonders if she received much of any attention at her previous home. Peachy really likes belly rubs. She is afraid of getting in a car and has to be lifted in and then she lays down for the entire ride. She is very sweet. She doesn’t have much interest in toys. Her foster mom says she loves being around children (age range 4 to 9) and loves to follow them around. Peachy is a pretty typical Saint Bernard, mind mannered and low key and likes to just lay around. She has not tried to get up on furniture. Peachy appears to be housebroken, although she has been seen to become very nervous and urinates. With love and training, this nervous habit should be able to be taken care of. Her foster mom thinks she weighs between 60 and 70 pounds and appears to be a bit underweight and her foster mom is feeding her food with a higher fat content trying to put some pounds on her. She will be spayed and have her shots up to date before her adoption is final. 6/3/2012

Jake: is a wonderful and loving Saint who recently came upon hard times. He was dumped at the Baltimore City Shelter. The story the Shelter got was that his owner died and the person bringing him in had taken care of him but could not do it anymore. The truth was that she had adopted him from our Rescue last year and was simply dumping him. Fortunately for Jake, the Shelter called Jennifer, our president and we were able to rescue him. Jake is almost 8 years-old He is a smaller male weighing in at only 120 lbs. He loves to be loved. Is great with kids. Is scared of the cat, but chases rabbits. He likes to be indoors and around people. He is good with most dogs, although some he does not like and we haven’t figured out why! Jake is a leaner and wants to be a lap dog. He is in great health. He is not interested in fetching balls but loves a good rawhide bone. A large yard is not necessarily needed, but he needs a fence. He will bark to come in because he doesn’t like to stay out long. Most of the time he is very laid back and low energy, but occasionally he gets a puppy spurt! He would make an awesome addition to any home. 6/3/2012

NIKITA: is quite the sweet girl. She was one-year-old this past January. At the time of her birthday, she weighed 90 pounds. Being just a little over the one year mark, Nikita still has some growing to do. She has one of the sweetest dispositions you will ever find. This sweetie loves people. Even though she is just a year old, Nikita already is getting the hang of walking on a leash. She still can use some more work, but she is well on her way to being easy to handle. As with most year old Saints, she is still very much a puppy and needs to have rules and boundaries and consistency. Nikita is looking for somebody to love her. She has been stuck in a shelter for 3 weeks She’s definitely hoping for someone to call about her. 6/3/2012

Cleo: is 6 years old. Her birthday is January 27, of 2006. She is a very gentle dog, she thinks she is a lap dog and loves to have her belly rubbed. She was raised with Yorkies and cats as well as my grandson. She is good with small children. She is house train, never kenneled. Her yard had an in-ground fence and knew her boundry, never going thru the line. She walks well on a leash, and enjoys walks at cooler times of the day. Cleo is touchy about having her nails clipped, it just would take time an patience on my part to do them, however the vet never had an issue. Cleo is in need of a home that is can return the love she has to offer. 6/3/2012

Celo: This is Celo, an adorable 2-3 year old male St. Bernard who was found wandering the streets by a group of teenagers who called our Rescue. He was not reclaimed and now needs a new, loving home. Celo gets along with other dogs when properly introduced. He likes walks, running around and belly rubs! 6/1/2012

Barney: is a 2,1/2 year old, rough coat, male Saint Bernard. He weighs about 140 lbs. Barney is neutered, micro-chipped, heart worm negative, and up to date on his shots. He is crate trained and housebroken. He knows his basic commands, sit, down, stay, and walks well on a leash. Barney is good with other dogs, big and small, gets along with cats, and is friendly to new people. He is an affectionate friend with a good temperament, and he is in need of a forever home where people will spend time with him, and appreciate him for the great dog that he is. 6/1/2012

Gracie: is a purebred, 118-lb, 4-year old, smooth coat St. Bernard who loves to please and hardly drools. Her dad was a well-known show-dog in his class. She is fully house-trained and well behaved in the home. She can be left alone in the house without a problem, knows to stay out of the kitchen, and knows to stay off of furniture. She even knows how to go to her “potty spot in the yard by herself. She gets along well with other dogs and cats. She knows many commands: sit, stay, lie down, leave it, drop it, come, shake, go to bed, back up, show me your belly (great for wiping muddy paws and clipping nails!), and more. Gracie is very affectionate, loves a lot of attention, and enjoys being brushed. She likes to play outdoors, including fetch. She does well on leashed walks, but sometimes needs to be reminded not to pull when barking dogs are nearby. She doesn’t bark, but is curious about every sound, and she likes to sing along to the harmonica. Gracie likes treats, and she doesn’t steal food from the table or counter. She mostly responds to praise and affection. One of her favorite pastimes is to take all of her toys out of her toy box right after you put them away. Gracie is very devoted to her handlers and other members of the family, but she doesn’t do well with small children, and can be timid when a lot of strangers are around. She also doesn’t like strangers to pet her without getting to know them first. She needs a loving home with a family without small children, who will keep her active. 6/1/2012

Bix: is three years old and he is one sweet and loveable guy that gets along with everyone and everything. He does have some issues with his hips and will need a home that has carpet or rugs. He needs these to help him get traction in getting up. He will need hip and joint supplements to help strengthen his hips. He love short walks with you and this also helps keep his joints in shape. Bix is such a love bug and just look at the adorable face, how can you not resist? 5/25/2012

Dakota (1): is a Saint/Great Pyrenees mix. Dakota is around 4 years old and is house trained. As you can see from her pictures, she LOVES the water and playing with her toys. Dakota loves people of all ages, playing and just cuddling up with you. She is very gentle so she would do well with all ages of people. She has fallen in love with fellow rescues “Violet” and “Bruno” who you see pictured with her. Dakota is one special girl that will take your heart away. Did we mention that Dakota gets along great with cats. 5/25/2012

NIKITA now Nicci: is quite the sweet girl. 5/20/2012

New

Mack: (Dallas, TX) Mack is a 1.5 year old male Saint. He is housebroken, and current on his shots. Mack has no known medical issues, and has been with his current family since he was 4 months old. He has not been around cats, but is good with small dogs (hasn’t been around alot of big ones), and Mack loves kids. He knows some basic commands, and is a big lovable boy. 5/17/2012

NAOMI: is a lovely southern lady. She is thought to be between 8 and 9 years old. She has been spayed. Naomi has wonderful manners and is house trained. This sweet senior is good with other dogs as long as the dogs are not pushy with her. Naomi, like all sweet elder ladies, loves a nap. She really enjoy being close to her family and is definitely a leaner. Naomi does have some arthritis but she does get around well on short walks. Ideally, being in a single level home would also be a plus for her. If you could ask her what would be what she wants most, she would say that she just really wants to be able to be close to her people and take naps in the sunshine. Naomi is a quiet soul loving for the good life maybe you could be the one who could make her wishes come true. 5/10/2012

SADIE: is a very beautiful spayed female who is just a little over 3 years old. She has a rough coat with very nice markings/mask. Sadie is a big girl, weighing in at about 135 pounds. She is up to date with her shots. Sadie was raised from a puppy and has grown up with 2 children, now ages 11 and 16. She also was raised with a golden retriever and a cat. She is really good with other animals and children. As with most of the large breeds, you have to be careful with them around young children as these gentle giants just don’t know their size and can accidentally knock a toddler over. Sadie is very gentle and has never shown signs of aggression. She has no history of biting anybody and is a very playful and social animal. Sadie has lived with a yard surrounded with an electric fence and has done very well with it. Her owners have been working on her leash manners which continue to get better and better. She has the full run of her home and she does not chew anything inside the home. Sadie’s favorite play activity is playing tug of war with a thick rope. Sadie is one lovely lady. Please call about her. 5/10/2012

SUSIE: is one of the sweetest girls you will ever find! She is between 2 and 3 years old and is so very affectionate. Only rarely does she drool, which is really a plus with a Saint Bernard! She tries to get into her foster parents’ laps whenever she can She is probably around 110 pounds. Her fur is long but it was clipped down for the summer. She loves to ride in the car and likes to have her head out the window. Susie really loves to drink water out of the garden hose. She runs like a rodeo barrel horse, cutting corners and almost laying over on her side when she does so. It is really funny to watch.. She knows her name and comes when called. Susie walks well on a leash and learns quickly. She now knows that you have to “sit” before you get a treat and so she sits before being asked to do so. Nobody likes belly rubs as much as Susie does and she flops down and rolls over at every opportunity. Susie is a really easy dog to have. She doesn’t get on the furniture unless you encourage her to do so. She is great with kids and other adults. She has not had the opportunity to socialize with other animals but the foster parents feel she would do fine since she is such a laid back and affectionate dog. Her shots are up to date and she will be spayed before her adoption is final. Pleases call for more information about Susie. If you take her home, you will not be disappointed. 5/10/2012

Effie: Hi, I’m Effie a wonderful 2 year old girl. I have spent the past few months in a shelter, and am trying to remember my house manners. I love people. With other dogs, I am hit or miss. This is why if you want to adopt me, I should be your only dog and you should plan to take me to some obedience classes so I can learn to play nice with other k-9s. I have so much love to give you! I am recovering form eye surgery, and am doing just fine. 5/8/2012

Sasha: This girl has had a hard start to life. She is 8 months old and already suffered a terrible broken leg. She was turned over to us after the accident. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers Debbie, Julia, Jenny, and Wendy she was saved and we got her surgery. These ladies worked tirelessly to save her before and after her operation. Also The Gourmet for the Good, an organization dedicated to helping rescues and animals raised a lot of funds to help us out with her. Saint Bernard Rescue would like to extend a HUGE Thank You to all involved in this girls journey back from the brink! She is s typical puppy and will make someone a lifelong friend. 5/4/2012

Liberty Belle: She is 9-10 years young! She came into rescue due to a change in her family situation. She loves other dogs and cats. She is a special girl who will bring a lot of joy to someone’s life. 5/2/2012

Alice: she is a one year old shorthaired puppy. She needs to learn some manners, as all puppies do, and it shouldn’t take her very long to learn them as she is a fast learner. She is very loving and is also very playful. 5/2/2012

LuLu: Meet LuLu – a delightful lady that is seven years old. Turned into a shelter because her owners wanted to move. Her sister died at the shelter on the very first night so we were fortunate enough to get LuLu the very next day. LuLu is a big girl weighing in at about 170 lbs. She gets along with the other dogs and cats are fine too, according to her previous owners. She is spayed, shots are up to date and she is Heartworm negative. We had her blood work done and she is healthy. She is on thyroid and rescue will furnish her pills. She loves attention but is also fine just entertaining herself. A super sweet very happy girl that just needs to find her forever home. 5/1/2012

Bogey: He is 11 weeks old and a baby for sure. He is sweet as can be. He needs a lot of hugs, love, and socialization. He will make a great family member as he has a lot of love, friendship, and personality to offer. 4/28/2012

Rufus: he is a male approximately 1 year old and very loving. He is 120 pounds, Neutered and all shots are currant. He loves to play and likes bones, typical Stain markings. He has one blue eye and one brown, good with kids, but working on his issue with strangers. Also chipped. 4/27/2012

Heidi: is a 4 yr old long hair very sweet girl. She has loved everyone she has met. She seems comfortable in her crate at night and will go into it during the day, when nothing is going on. Heidi is a very well socialized dog and loves to ride in the car. She walks good on a leash but once in a while needs to be reminded not to pull. Heidi has to go to an only dog home and has not met any cats yet. Do you have room in your life for all of Heidi’s love? 4/24/2012

Tucker: is six years old and hands down the sweetest dog we have ever met. His previous family did not have time for him and left him outside all of the time. He has been a bit spoiled by his foster family who has given him all the love and attention he was missing. He is the perfect family dog, great with kids, other dogs and cats. He recently went through surgery for the equivalent of a torn ACL, but has been healing up great and is looking forward to romping with the dogs again. He would love to be part of your family. 4/24/2012

Diamant: means “Diamond” in German, and the kind soul who found him wandering the streets thought he was a true “diamond in the rough.” We at the rescue agree! Diamant was in pathetic shape to begin with-emaciated, covered in fleas, anemic, ear infections in both ears, just to put it mildly, but he has found safety in the rescue program. His bloodwork was good, and he tested negative for heartworms. Diamant had already been neutered. Not much is known about his past-he was found wandering a north Houston neighborhood, with his best friend the Dachshund (who has also been rescued). He enjoys the company of other dogs, and is indifferent to cats. He is housebroken, loves children and is gentle with them, and eats like a champ, so we expect that he will be fattened up before too long! Diamant will receive his vaccinations after his immune system is back on track from some TLC. He is now being fostered in the DFW area. He is quiet and sweet, and is estimated to be only about 3 years old. The photos are from his first day in rescue, and you can see the hair loss from the flea infestation. 4/13/2012

Karma: is a 2yr old female smooth coat that we rescued from a local shelter after she was dumped there by her owner. She is a sweet girl that’s great with other dogs but is some what under weight and needs to gain at least 20 to 30lbs. Karma is spayed, current on all her vaccines, loves attention, knows the sit and down command and loves to give kisses. So now all Karma needs is the right person or family that will love her forever. 4/13/2012

Bear: (Wisconsin) I have a loving 3-year-old St. Bernard named Bear that is looking for a good home ,It would be ideal for him to live in the suburbs or country with a single family (no kids or other dogs). He is 135 lbs and needs open space and lots of exercise. He loves to be around people, especially his owners, but he is currently medicated with Prozac for anxiety around dogs. He is up-to-date with all vaccinations and is neutered. Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding Bear. I want to ensure he goes to a good, loving home Bear is too big for me to handle. 4/10/2012

Madonna: (Sheboygan, WI) My name is Madonna. I am 5 yrs old and am up to date on shots and have been spay. I love attention and would like to be the love of your life! I’d rather not share my attention with other animals. 4/10/2012

WILFRED: is 4—5 yr old neutered male. Found as stray and fostered by a vet tech with big and little dogs and cats . He is POSITIVE HEARTWORM, but just had surgery for bilateral entropian eyes, and microchipped. He will be treated for his heartworm with monthly heartworm preventative because no injectable medication is available from manufacturer. 4/10/2012

ORWELL: is a BIG beautiful boy! He just had his first birthday in January and is 14 months old. He is very much a puppy and needs a forever home with someone with giant breed experience who is willing to train him or have him trained. He has a beautiful long coat and is nicely marked, especially the trademark freckles around his nose. As you can tell from the pictures, he is great with kids. He is friendly with other people. Orwell loves belly rubs. He is described as a dry mouth Saint which means he does not drool as much as other dogs do. He has such a sweet face and would make an excellent dog for someone who wants a big puppy in their lives! Oh, forgot to mention, a fenced yard is a must for Orwell. He needs some space to run his puppy energy off. Please call for more information on this big baby! 4/10/2012

Trux- Trux: aka Berg was adopted out last year (2011) he was returned to us through no fault of his own. He is about 4 years old. He LOVES LOVES LOVES other dogs and to play. It goes without saying he is a cuddle bug. He will need a couch and a family as he is good with children. You will not find a better boy to make part of your family. 4/10/2012

Tiny (2): LOVES the water. He likes his toys but he likes them even better if they are in the play pool with him. Tiny also likes other dogs, loves to play with cats and he loves people of all ages. Tiny is a great all around saint that would love to go home and play in the water with you. He likes cuddles too! 4/7/2012

Lucy: is 5 years old longhaired saint that was previously adopted out from our rescue. She was brought back to the rescue because her owner was being stationed over seas. Lucy is a very loving and well mannered saint who would really like to get back into a loving family. 4/7/2012

Olivia: is a young female Saint, estimated to be about 9 months old. She is sweet and loveable, but she is also still a big destructive puppy, who needs lots of supervision! Olivia is working on being housebroken, and she loves to play with other dogs and cats, too. She likes kids, and her foster mom thinks she would be a wonderful playmate for older children, though she isn’t really aware of the fact that she is a large breed dog (and the concept that people can fall when you jump on them). Olivia would benefit from basic obedience training. She has received vaccines, and tested negative for heartworms. Olivia is scheduled to be spayed soon. We aren’t sure if she is a purebred Saint, as she is smaller (75 lbs), but of course, still growing! 4/4/2012

Bandera: is a 3-4 year old female Saint. She is sweet and loving, a bit shy, but loves kids, other dogs, and cats. She is current on vaccines and tested negative for heartworms. Bandera will be spayed soon, once she fattens up a bit and gets adjusted to her foster home. Bandera is rather a “mini” Saint in size, only weighing in the 70lb range right now, and will never be huge (even with some groceries), so she is perfect for the family that loves the breed, but doesn’t want a massive size dog. (Remember for many Saint owners, 100 lbs is “little”!) Bandera doesn’t seem to have much training at the moment, but her foster mommy is working on basic commands and manners, and Bandera is housebroken. She is currently being fostered in the DFW area. 4/4/2012

Bernina: is a 4yr old female rough coat that was surrendered to us by her owner along with her brother Dozer due to divorce. She is a sweet girl that’s great with kids, loves to be petted, and loves to go on hikes or just run and play outside. She is good with other dogs; crate trained, walks well on leash, and knows her basic commands. Bernina is spayed, current on all her vaccines, and is now just waiting for the right family that will love her forever. 4/2/2012

Lucy: (San Leon Texas) is current on shots, spayed, microchipped and HW negative. Lucy is an inside dog and she knows basic hand commands of sit, stay, lay down and stop. Lucy is good with other dogs. She likes to be around them, but not a lot of playing — just hanging out together. Lucy is not a barker. She is good with cats and likes to go for walks, but not too far. Dog parks are fine, but Lucy is a watcher and not a player. Lucy is good with kids but she does not like thunderstorms. After some trial and error, the vet determined that a dose of Benadryl at the onset of a storm keeps Lucy calm. Lucy is about 5 years old, and is shown here with a “summer haircut”. 4/2/2012

Panda: is a 2 year old girl who came into rescue via the internet. She is sweet, loves people, and squeaky toys. She is a little shy and needs socialization, however the way she loves to take walks this won’t be a problem to achieve. She is vetted and ready for her new home. 3/26/2012

Lucy #1: This girl was running for 4 months on a farm as a stray. Some kind people worked hard to earn her trust to get her to safety. We were called and gladly took Lucy in. She is estimated to be 18 months to 2 years old. She is about 100lbs. She is unique in many ways starting with her BLUE EYES. Over the last 11 years we have placed hundreds of Saints in the Mid-Atlantic region, she is only the 2nd saint with blue eyes. The last one in 2004 had 1 blue eye. She needs a lot of love and care do she can build her confidence and trust. Lucy likes soft beds and loves mealtime. She will make someone a super friend. Oh yes she is the best leash walker out of all of our saints in the program. 3/26/2012

Harley: is a neutered male smooth coat Saint, 3 years old. He lives with other dogs (small and large), and adores cats. He is vaccinated, housebroken, and loves children. He is a great “couch potato” Saint, and his only drawback is that he is epileptic and must take daily medicine. Harley must find a new home because his “mom” is wheelchair bound and can no longer safely care for him. This is a heartbreaking decision for them, as he is a well loved member of the family. Harley’s new family would need to be home alot to administer his meds, and monitor for any seizures. He is a gorgeous Saint! 3/26/2012

Max: This sweet young man came to us after his owner fell on hard times and could no longer care for him. He is 8-9 months old and will be a rather tall boy. He is good with other dogs, cats, and children although would be best in a home with older children as he is just a rambunctious child himself. He enjoys going for walks, is good in the car, and is learning new manners everyday. He really is a great boy! This adoption will have a mandatory enrollment is an obedience course as part of the adoption contract due to age and size of dog. 3/20/2012

Maggie: his sweet girl came to us because her owners had financial difficulties and could no longer care for her. She is 3 years old. She plays well with her foster brother and sister in the yard and comes when called. She is good in the car and has good manners. She will make great addition to any family. 3/20/2012

Lexie: This sweet 5 year old came to us after her owners fell on hard times. She is very sweet and gets along well with others. She does have a luxating patella (knee cap) that does cause her to sometimes limp. She is very active and loves to go for walks. She would make a great addition to any family. 3/20/2012

Boris: This handsome 14 month old male that was rescued from a Central Illinois shelter. He is house trained and loves to play. He is great with kids, other dogs, is crate trained and is working on walking better on a leash. He will require obedience training classes as part of his adoption contract as his previous owners did not teach him proper manners. His foster parents are working with him daily and he is a very fast learner! He loves his chewies and toys. He is great on car rides. He would make a great addition to any house. 3/20/2012

Goliath: is a two year male who loves to play and than play some more. He does not realize his size so should not go to a home with small children. Does well with other dogs both large and small but has not been tested with cats. 3/19/2012

Betty: She is 2-3 years old. She loves people and is eager to please and has that laid back Saint Bernard attitude. She walks well on a leash, and likes at least 2 walks a day. She is fully vetted and ready for her new home! 3/18/2012

Charles: aka Charlie- This is the boy for the TRUE SAINT LOVER. He is 2 years old and weighs in at 168lbs. He is a smooth coat, splash coat. He is our 3rd saint with a blue eye. He has 1 brown and 1 blue eye. This boys Loves to play and is active. He will needs an active home. He gets along with other dogs well and in fact needs a home with other dogs. He is a big dog even by Saint Bernard standards. He will only go to a home with Saint experience. He is a super delight. If you love Saints then this is the boy for you. Also make sure you have a couch and plenty of balls for fetching as you will need to make time for this activity with Charles. Did we mention he loves car rides. He doesn’t jump in SUV’S he walks in them. His new home will need to provide rides for him. Lastly he is a super leash walker. He is a big boy, but extremely gentle. He is truly a Saintly Saint Bernard. 3/18/2012

Lucy #2: Here’s Lucy! Lucy is a young lady of about 14 months – still a puppy – who was rescued from an animal control faculty. She loves people and wants to greet everyone she sees. Her new favorite things are playing with and retrieving squeaky toys (which she treats with tender loving care) and long walks. Since Lucy is young, an active home would be ideal for her as she likes to play (tug-a-rope is a favorite). She has been introduced to those strange small creatures called cats and learning to get along with them, and she is attending “manners school so she will be the best adoptive dog ever. Lucy is crate- trained and housebroken and is just a great Saint. It will be a lucky person who adopts this sweetheart of a dog as she will be a loyal companion. 3/18/2012

Dahlia: Two year old Dahlia came into our Rescue because her family lost their home and moved into an apartment which did not take large breed dogs. Dahlia spent alot of time alone, and her foster home is working on her socializing skills. She can be too pushy when playing with other dogs but with correction she is learning better manners. Dahlia will need someone who is willing to work with her on obedience training. Please consider giving Dahlia a chance at a new, happy life and home. Spayed, shots, microchip. 3/17/2012

Chuck: is a four year old, smooth coat, male Saint Bernard. He is neutered, micro-chipped, up to date on shots, and heart-worm negative. Chuck is very friendly and gets along well with other dogs, cats and young people. He walks well on a leash, and knows his basic commands, sit, stay, down, and come. 3/12/2012

MAX: is a beautiful male Saint Bernard who is looking for a new and loving home. His current family is unable to keep him and would love to see him find a home before the New Year. Max will be 2 in March. He is neutered. He has a rough coat (long hair) and is a big boy, weighing in between 125 and 150 pounds. He loves to play. Max is not a fetcher, but rather a chaser. He loves you to throw a stick for him. He will race after it, pick it up and shake it for a bit, and then lay down and chew on it. Max is certainly the typical Saint as he does not know his size and often gets scared of something new, but then quickly shakes it off. If you have been thinking of enlarging your family with a big loveable dog, Max may be just the dog for you. 3/11/2012

Banks: is a very playful young dog. He is 2 yrs old this Feb 2012. He likes other dogs as long as they are not aggressive towards him. He has 1 blue eye and 1 Brown eye. He also is clearing up an ear infection. He loves a good game of tug a war, and loves walking himself on a leash. 3/9/2012

Rosie: Rosie is a very sweet girl, she gets along with other dogs, and loves car rides, we are told she gets along with cats, and is house broken. She came in with her son Hunk, she would like to be placed with them if possible, but it is not required. 3/9/2012

Chopper: Hello I am a sweet boy who just wants a home I can call my own. I was given to rescue due to a change in my family situation, which by the way was not my fault. I like walks and spending with my family. I would love a new family where I would get a lot of attention and have a lots of treats and car rides. Also I am very mellow. Please make me your new BFF. 3/8/2012

Hope: and Faith: These sweet girls came to us from our friends in Garrett County Md. They are 7-8 years old and have been together all their life. We got them in early July and are now ready for adoption. They are fully vetted including a complete dental, as their teeth were in awful shape. That has been addressed and they are much more comfortable. It has been our pleasure to be able to help them. We appreciate all the offers of help when they first came into the shelter, from as far away as New England. However we have plenty of wonderful volunteers here that were able to nurse them to full health. Sweet and lovable is the best way to describe Hope and Faith. They love to lounge and are just starting to appreciate their new toys. They are actually rough coated (long Hair), however they were shaved to get the tons of mats out. The girls have enjoyed sporting their new summer hair do’s. They will only be adopted together as they are a bonded pair. They are loving their foster mom’s screened in porch as one of their favorite places to nap in the afternoon and their new fluffy beds inside at nite. They were kept outside all the time until they came into Mid-Atlantic Saint Rescue. They are good with cats, kids, and other dogs. These 2 are a delight. 3/8/2012

Ranger: is a male rough coat that will be 2yr old in June. He was surrendered to us by another rescue after his owner turned him over to them because they said he was too much for them. Ranger is a very sweet boy but being he is still a young pup we recommend obedience training. Ranger loves to meet people, other dogs, and we where told he is also good with cats. He is house trained, rides great in the car and loves to be petted. Ranger is current on all his vaccines and will be neutered next week and then will be ready for his forever family. 3/8/2012

Moose: My name is Moose. I am almost 2 years old. I’ve had a rough start in life and need a friend who will train me and work with me. I get along great with kids, cats, and other dogs. I am neutered and current on all of my shots but I have only been to the vet once in my life and didn’t care for it. I will need someone with patience to help me overcome my insecurities. My foster mom says I am a good boy and willing to learn. 3/7/2012

Hunter: is still with his current family, but needs a permanent home. He is approx. 7 years old, 120 pounds, neutered, and up to date on his vaccines. Hunter lived most of his life as an outdoor dog, and has enjoyed the last several months living inside where he is living now. He was allowed to roam free and wasn’t well cared for by his previous owners, but now he has had regular vet care and is ready for the creature comforts that being an indoor dog has to offer. Hunter is good with other dogs and kids, cats are unknown at this time. 3/6/2012

Greta: is a rambunctious little 4.5 month old saint. She is a bundle of energy and really needs someone who will have lots of patience for her and work hard on basic obedience and teaching her good manners. She does know her basic commands, but has some trouble focusing when other things are going on around her. She is crate trained, but needs some help walking on a leash. She is good with other dogs, doesn’t seem to mind cats, and loves everyone. Because of her bouncing puppy behavior she will not be placed into a home where there are small children. She would easily knock over an infant by accident. So if you’ve got patience, a fenced in yard, another playful dog, and are willing to continue her training she may be the girl for you! 3/6/2012

Sassy: will be 2 years old in February. She is a medium coat, pint size saint. Sassy is a very sweet, smart girl and will make a wonderful addition. She is currently working on her basic obedience and is catching on quickly. She walks pretty well on a leash, is good in a crate, does well with other dogs, and is friendly with all people. She did have a rough start in life and was very malnourished. Due to this her growth was delayed and she is probably going to mature no more then 80 pounds, and doesn’t really drool. With a little patience and understanding Sassy will fit into almost any family. 3/6/2012

Gilda: is a 6 month to 1yr old female rough coat that we rescued from a local shelter near the Mexican boarder. She is a sweet little girl that just loves everybody and gets along great with other dogs. Gilda is very clam for being so young and she loves to get belly rugs. Gilda is spayed, current on all her vaccines, has had a much needed bath and is potty trained. So now all Gilda needs is the right person or family that will give her some training and of course love her forever. 3/5/2012

Molly: is a 5yr old female rough coat that was surrendered to us by her owner because she could no longer take care of her. She is a sweet girl that needs to gain some weight with good quality food which will also take care of her hair loss and flaky skin. Molly is great with kids and other dogs, is potty trained, and walks well on leash. She is spayed, current on all her vaccines, likes to ride in the car, but could use some basic obedience training. So now Molly is just waiting for the right family that will love her forever. 3/5/2012

Bandit: Hi, I’m Bandit. I came to Dr. Sara as a major Train wreck about 9 months ago. I just wanted to let everyone see the new Bandit. I’m happy and healthier and would love a ride to my forever home. I’m about 3yo but act more like a 2yo. I don’t chew but love to have my face played with. I make grumbly noises. They tell me that is typical Saint. Oh, I’m a short dog and weigh about 100 pounds. Mom (Dr) Sara says that is a good thing. 3/1/2012

SANTI: is a 2 yr old, smooth coat Saint Bernard. His adoptive family’s other dog is not accepting another dog being brought in the house, having been an only dog his entire life. Santi is incredibly sweet and always excited to meet new people. He is very well behaved and does not drool very much at all! He loves to lay on the couch with you and will follow you anywhere. He gives great kisses and is amazing to hug! He has nothing but love in his heart and his family is heartbroken to have to give him up despite only have adopted him a short time ago. He will definitely make another family very happy and they will be lucky to have him. He has just had all his shots updated and physical exam as well. If you have any other questions, please contact us. 2/26/2012

Lancey: Lancey sends a big HELLO and a SMILE to everyone he meets. He is a warm wonderful soul. He is 9-10 years old. The worst part about his story we want you to know is he got dumped at a high kill shelter. We pulled him within a few and we mean few hours of his scheduled euthanasia. Thanks to an alert cat rescue volunteer who got involved and called Mid-Atlantic Saint Rescue. Lancey is a wonderful guy who is great with other dogs, cats, and all people. He likes toys and loves to play. Please consider him as you will not be sorry when he becomes your new ” bestest” buddy. He is vetted and getting his teeth cleaned on 12/9. He is ready for the holidays in his new home. 2/26/2012

CHELSA: is a lovely one-year-old female who needs to be spayed. She is very tall. She does have a malformed foot that does not seem to bother her in the slightest. She has a lot of energy and loves to play and take long walks. Chelsa will benefit from being in a new home where she can be given plenty of training. Chelsa has spent much of her short life outside where she could roam freely in a fenced yard and needs to be fully housebroken. This sweetie is good with other dogs. 2/26/2012

SAMMY: is looking for a new home. He is up to date on his shots and has been neutered. He is very sweet boy and would make a wonderful addition to your home. He would love to come home for the holidays! 2/26/2012

Heather: Isn’t she a cutie with those eyes! She’s also a very sweet and loving little lady who gets along with other dogs and also cats. Heather is estimated to be no more than two years old. 2/24/2012

Rosa: is a pretty 2-3 year old female Saint. Rosa craves human company and just wants to be loved. She is playful and has a wonderful curiosity about her surroundings and enjoys investigating what is around the next bend. Rosa knows a few commands and is a perfect lady on a leash. 2/24/2012

Homer: is Sassy’s brother and also 15 months old. He is a little worse off then his sister with his weight loss and is going to be a little slower gaining weight. He is a sweet little guy who loves to cuddle and receive any attention he can get. Homer too will need the patience of an adopter who is willing to work with him on his house breaking and obedience. He too is up to date on shots, tested negative for heartworm and tick borne diseases, and has been started on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Homer will also be a petite saint at probably 70 pounds the most. We will be accepting applications for adoption on Homer as well although he wont be ready to go to his new home until he gains some weight and can be neutered. 2/22/2012

Patti: is an almost 5 year old female saint with a medium length coat. She is a very friendly girl and seems to enjoy the company of people more then she does other dogs. She is good with most other dogs, but cats are unknown, although it said she is good with cats on her surrender papers. Patti would love to be adopted into a loving family with a fenced in yard or someone that will walk her regularly. She is good in a crate and does not have any accidents when in there, although she still may need a little help with her housebreaking as she was an outdoor dog. Before adoption she will be spayed, updated on all vaccines, and tested for heartworm and tick-borne diseases. She did test positive for lyme disease and anaplasmosis, which are both tick borne diseases, but she has been started on her treatment and its almost completed. 2/22/2012

Bailey: (Fort Worth, TX) Bailey is a 5 year old smooth coat spayed Saint Bernard. She’s incredibly energetic! Bailey is house-trained however, about a year ago we noticed she would pee while sleeping maybe once a week. So, she is now on Proin (1 pill per day, about $30 for a two month supply) and has not had an accident since. She is current on all vaccines. She loves to run, and is great on a leash. She also loves other dogs (especially going to the dog park), people, fetch, swimming, and anything that can burn her energy. She’s not destructive. We can trust her inside while we’re out of the house. She is mostly an inside dog, and definitely sleeps inside. She’s also great with kids, and loves to give kisses. Bailey is currently located in the Fort Worth area. 2/19/2012

Sierra: is a very sweet 2 year old spayed female Saint. She is a smooth coat. Sierra is wonderful with other dogs, and likes to play. She is fine with cats as well. Sierra is housebroken and knows how to use a doggie door. She is a beautiful Saint, and fairly well behaved, except for counter surfing and raiding the trash can. Sierra came in as a stray from Oklahoma, along with her 6 month old puppy. Who knows how long they lived on the street, but Sierra is headshy, especially with men and boys. When a strange man reaches over/for her head or collar too fast, Sierra will nip. Almost like she is afraid they will grab her or hit her over the head. This doesn’t seem to be the case with women or girls. This being said, Sierra will probably do best in a family with adults that understand her fear and will be patient in working with her. She would prefer a family that has another dog for companionship, and that is home a fair amount of time. Update3/22/2011 Sierra prefers to be the only female dog in the household, but continues to do well with other male dogs. 2/12/2012

Bruno: is a 2yr old male rough coat that was surrendered to us by his owner after he was rescued by him along with his sister due to divorce. His new owner saved him from being put into a shelter but after 2 months decided that he could only keep his sister being he already had 2 other dogs. Bruno is a handsome sweet boy that’s loves to meet people or other dogs, very out going personality. He is house trained, walks well on a leash, rides great in the car and loves to be petted. Bruno is neutered and current on all his vaccines so now all he needs is a family to love him. 2/12/2012

Dozer is neutered and current on all his vaccines so now all he needs is a family. 2/10/2012

Dodger: (Houston, TX) was found dodging traffic along the side of a busy Houston freeway. He was matted and stinky, but has cleaned up well! He is now neutered, and vaccinated, and waiting for his new home. I believe he is part golden or lab and part St. Bernard. He has a very St. Bernard type face (and some of the telltale drool!). He is extremely loving, great with kids and already knows the sit command. He is medium HW positive so the vet recommend just medication at this point. He is a wonderful dog and great family dog. I think a child could sleep on top of him and he wouldn’t mind. He is about 3 years old and weighs about 65 pounds. He has a beautiful red coat. Unfortunately, Dodger is currently being housed at a kennel, because no foster homes are available for him. Will you be his Christmas miracle? 2/9/2012

Britney: is a 2yr old female rough coat that we pulled from a local shelter after another rescued changed their mind about taking her. The shelter vet said she is 3yr old and that she had URI and kennel cough. We took her directly to our vet to stay until completely well and our vet says she closer to 1 ½ to 2yr old. Britney is now well and in a foster home getting lots of TLC. She is a sweet girl that needs to gain some weight with good quality food which will also take care of her flaky skin. She is spayed, current on all her vaccines, and micro-chipped. So now Britney is just waiting for the right family that will love her forever. 2/6/2012

Likes to play and eager to please. Unfortunately, she does have a bit of aggression towards other dogs and she is not cat friendly so it’s highly recommended that she is the only animal. She has gotten along great with some small dogs. She is spayed and fully vetted. Izzy weighs about 110 lbs. 2/1/2012

Gorda: This sweet eight year old gal came into Rescue because her person lost his business, moved and left Gorda with family members who called our Rescue when one of them was allergic to her. Please consider giving Gorda (Gordita) a new, loving home. She is a healthy, happy girl who still has a lot of love to give! Spayed, shots, microchip. 1/27/2012

Stella is great with people including children. She is very loving and tolerant. She would do best in a home where someone is home a lot and as the only female dog. 1/27/2012

Rayo: is around one year old and as you can see, he likes the water. Rayo is a big fun loving lug of a puppy. His best friend at the rescue is Sweetie and he also hangs out with Roxanne and Lady Jane. He was turned in to the pound with his little buddy a Chihuahua who would sleep on Rayo’s back. From that you can tell Rayo is one gentle giant but a very playful puppy of a gentle giant. 1/25/2012

Odin: is a good-looking 3-½ year old, smooth coat male St. Bernard. He weighs about 150 pounds, and he is neutered, micro-chipped, up to date on all shots, and heartworm negative. Because of a divorce and the sale of his house, Odin has found himself homeless, and is currently living with three other St. Bernards at a foster home. Odin made a lot of trips to the dog park growing up, and as a result he is well socialized to dogs and people alike. He is very friendly and non-aggressive. Odin knows his basic commands, sit, down, stay, he walks well on a leash and he is learning to come when called. He gets a little too excited around cats, and we haven’t forced the issue to see what will happen. Odin is house broken and he doesn’t dig or jump up. Ralphie: This very sweet 3-4 year old came to us from a south suburban shelter after he was picked up as a stray and was never claimed. He loves people and gets along well with other dogs. He loves to play and sometimes does not know his own size so a home with older children would be best. He is housebroken, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and loves car rides. He would make a great addition to any family. 1/22/2012

Mabelline: This lovely lady came from a southern Illinois high kill shelter after she was found as a stray. She is 18-24 months old, house trained, crate trained, likes other dogs small and large and cats. Very into chewies and being loved. Total attention seeking dog. Loves everyone. Good for car rides. Walks well on a leash. She likes other dogs but would be totally content as the only dog in a house. (meaning that she doesn’t need that pack type life but does fine with it) She would make a great addition to any family. 1/22/2012

Maggie: a two year old female, Longhaired. Maggie came into rescue via a shelter. She was turned in by a person that had her for only three days and had been passed around prior to that looking for a home. She definitely needs some weight but is a great eater so that will come quickly. Spayed and up to date on shots & Heartworm negative. Maggie is wonderful and surprisingly, to date, has not been affected by her previous experiences. She gets along with other dogs but we do not know about cats. Maggie is a special girl and is waiting to find her forever safe home. 1/21/2012

TINY: is a two-year-old male who lived on a chain before coming to rescue as an owner surrender. He is very thin and could use a few more pounds to bring him to an ideal weight. According to his former owner, he likes to be with people, kids, dogs, and cats. You can tell from the pictures that he is a sweetie. 1/19/2012

Smokey: This is smoke. He is 6 months and cute as can be. He loves car rides, kids, and belly rubs. He came to us when a breeder decided they did not want him. We were thrilled to get the call, as well as thankful. He is all puppy so a basic obedience class will be a requirement. If you want a new buddy consider Smoke. 1/16/2012

Bernard: is a young male Saint, estimated to be about 2 years old. He is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccines. Bernie loves other dogs (and puppies!), cats, and is horse friendly too. He doesn’t fetch-instead he cowers when things are thrown, and he isn’t a big chewer-shoes or bones. Bernie would love a family to call his own for the holidays! She has had entropian surgery to correct her eyes( They curled inward and rubbed on her cornea) Her last owner allowed her to live like that for 4 yrs!! Well I am happy to say that her surgery went well and she is now out of pain and extremely grateful. She also had been allowed to live with an ear infection in both ears and that has been fixed also. Despite all this, she is the most loving grateful dog. She deserves a family of her own to love her and spoil her Is it you?? 1/9/2012

BJ: When BJ first arrived in rescue, we thought she was a senior dog. But, it turns out that BJ is actually a younger Saint (only 3-4 years old) with a thyroid condition. She is housebroken, spayed, tested heartworm negative, and is current on vaccines. BJ does have large balloon like growths on both her front legs from laying on hard surfaces. They may be able to be surgically removed, but for now, the vet has recommended they be left alone, as they are in a difficult spot to have heal. BJ knows how to use a doggie door, and does fine with other dogs, although she prefers that they leave her alone and not get in her face. BJ is looking for a nice quiet home where she can be loved and and pampered. Not too much excitement or exercise is necessary-just food, treats and a nice soft bed. BJ is being fostered in the Austin, TX area. She has not been tested around cats, and will require a fair amount of grooming as she has a very thick coat. She rides fine in the car, but doesn’t like getting in, so be prepared to lift her 150lbs of fun! BJ now takes daily thyroid medication, which is fairly inexpensive, but will be required for the rest of her life. She is a gorgeous and sweet natured Saint. 1/6/2012

He does love his toys and we are working on leash training. Only large dog experienced applicants will be considered. He is a funny boy with lots of personality that needs to be developed. He is a big boy with the mentality of a puppy. Lots of time and patience will definitely pay off with this guy. Are you ready for a forever friend? 1/2/2012

Murphy: and Chaka: Meet Murphy and Chaka – Murphy is about a three and a half yr old male and Chaka is a three yr. old female. These two were turned in together and would love to stay together. They don’t seem to be dependent on each other but play constantly, sleep, eat and just hang out with each other. No worries about the dog being home all day by itself when they come in pairs. They both like other dogs and per previous owner, they do well with children and cats. Have been no problem at all in their foster home. Murphy was born with a birth defect on his left front paw. He handles it well and it’s no problem for him. He does best on grass or dirt and is such a sweetie. They both deserve attention which they crave. Are you the lucky person that has a heart big enough that can welcome two at the same time? 1/2/2012

Butch: Hi! I am Butch. A wonderful boy looking or his forever home. I was starved when I came in to rescue, so I am still gaining weight. I am very well adjusted and love everyone and everything. The only bad habit I have, is when I get really excited, I “mouth” people. My foster mom is working on correcting this problem, but I would do well with children over 10 because of this. I cannot wait to be a part of your family! 1/2/2012
