These dogs are no longer available to find dogs available for adoption please click (here).

Baloo: 7 year old male. Rough coat. Great with kids, cats and other dogs. House trained and obedience trained. Came to rescue because his previous owners moved into a house with no fence. Baloo is very mellow and has no health issues. He loves to ride in the car and will do anything for attention. 12/31/2003

Barney: Barney hails from Tennessee. He is a full-blooded Saint Bernard. He’s great with other dogs and cats! He does well with children, and loves attention. Barney knows basic commands such as sit, down, and no. He’s a lovebug that wants you to love him! Barney has beautiful markings and would be a great addition to any family. Please let us know if you are interested. Barney will be neutered before being placed in his new home. 12/29/2003

Annie: Annie is a one year old smooth coat female. She is wonderful with kids and other dogs. She is quite laid back for a young saint. She knows basic commands and loves to please her human. She is crate trained and house trained. She is an excellent traveler and walks well on a lead. Annie has been adopted by Mr. Bojangles’ parents and is enjoying the beach life with her new family. Way to go Annie! 12/29/2003

Bailey: is approx 3 yr old female that was given up by her family because they were moving. She was moved from one shelter to another and found to be POSITIVE heartworm. WSBR is going to be treating her 10/15 so she will be available for adoption in a couple weeks. She loves to give kisses, walks on leash, knows basic commands, generally easy going. Protective of kids around other dogs, and we don’t think she likes cats. 12/27/2003

Duffy: Approx 18 mo old male. Given up by his breeder due to litter history of hip Dysplasia. He currently doesn’t have any problems, but may in the future. He has sweet disposition, gets along with dogs. He deserves a forever home that will care for and love him even with possible health problems. 12/27/2003

Harley: 1 1/2 year old longhair female **Special needs dog** She has just been diagnosed with Addison’s disease. She is very stable and will require a lifetime of care and follow up with this disease. Harley lives with older kids and her brother, Davidson. She is housebroken and very sweet. Stress is a main factor with Addison’s disease, so her owners will hold her until a proper and more caring home is available for her. 12/26/2003

Hercules: a 2 1/2yr old longhaired male. Very sweet and loving. Needs some training on leash and lots of TLC. Was used as a stud dog and is not good with other males. Good with kids and loves cats. He had a female companion and would probably be good with another female. Very submissive and loves belly rubs. 12/26/2003

JAKE: is a 3 year old longhair male, who will do best in a home with no other male dogs. He has been with kids and is very loving! He will make a great addition to his new family! 12/26/2003

Buddy (P): 2 Year Old Male Rough Coat Buddy (P) (the P stands for Palmdale since we have another dog with the same name) is a strong young dog.. He was found in the Lancaster/Palmdale area with his friend, Bailey, and both were turned in to the local pound. Since he was already neutered and had a microchip, the shelter contacted his owner, who no longer wanted the dogs for reasons unknown, so they contacted us. Buddy is on the thin side, but he is well-fed and knows basic obedience commands. He needs some minor grooming, but all in all, he looks to be in very good shape. The folks at the shelter told us that he was found going after another dog and that he was animal aggressive. Since he just got here last night, it’s hard for us to tell yet. He doesn’t like to be in a fenced kennel and does growl and bark at the dogs surrounding him there, but once we took him out for a walk, he was just fine. When he saw other dogs, he definitely pulled and tried to go over to them, but his tail was wagging and he wasn’t growling, so we’ll see how he does over the next week or so. To be on the safe side, for now let’s say that he would be best in a home without other male dogs. Since he was found with a female, he may get along with other females. Too early to tell. Buddy hasn’t shown any aggression towards humans or kids. Like Bailey, if he sees a car door, he heads for it, expecting that sooner or later, he’ll end up with a cheeseburger. He pulled a little bit when we first took a walk, but as soon as he had taken care of business, he walked calmly on the leash. Buddy doesn’t appear to drool much at all, which means he won’t leave your bedspread as messy as my gentle giant does. 12/22/2003

Tonka: 1-3 Year Old Male Rough Coat Tonka was found on the side of the freeway. The people that found him wanted to keep him but they already had dogs of their own. Tonka might be a bit of an escape artist, so only secure high fences for him. He is a big beautiful boy that resembles a giant teddy bear. Tonka is full of energy and will need some basic obedience training. He did well with a 3 year old knocking him over but then licking his face. 12/22/2003

Brutus: 6 Year Old Male Smooth Coat *** SPECIAL NEEDS *** PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! Brutus was turned in by his owners because they said he didn’t like the grandkids…we have had no problems with him and find him to be a sweet old man around the volunteers. He is a big, beautiful boy, but has so many wrinkles in his face it’s hard for him to see. He is sweet and mellow, loves to ride in the car and likes to be brushed and talked to. Brutus is having surgery on some small tumors in between his toes. One was irritated making it hard for him to walk, so we are having them removed hoping to alleviate any pain they are causing him. Obviously, a kennel situation is not the best for Brutus and it’s hard on his bones as he is no puppy anymore. Brutus needs a quiet foster home or forever home that will let him relax and live out the rest of his life comfortably. He would do best in a home with no children or other animals. He just needs to be spoiled and loved as the only dog in the family. Is that yours? 12/22/2003

Thunder: 3 Year Old Male Rough Coat Thunder is 3 years old and is a rough coat. He is very playful with our foster home’s other two Saints. He still has the puppy attitude and can use a little training. Thunder was turned in because his previous owners moved. We’ll know more about him as time passes, but we’d rather find a permanent home for this happy guy as soon as possible. 12/22/2003

Jade: 1 1/2Year Old Female Rough Coat Jade was brought in with her brother Harley. He jumps chain link but Miss Jade does not. She is a young, energetic female that would do well with some basic obedience training. Jade is fine with kids but did not seem to like the foster mom’s other dogs. However, her problem may be fence aggression rather than dog aggression. We had her out together with Charlie and she did just fine and did not bark or growl. Nevertheless, she may blossom best in a home without other dogs. 12/22/2003

Einstein: 1 year old male. Golden Retriever/Saint mix. Very shy but very sweet. Smart as they come. House trained and crate trained. Great with other dogs and kids although a little shy of rowdy kids at first. Needs a home with a 6 ft fence and a patient owner willing to teach him trust and love again. 12/20/2003

BETSY: Betsy is a 2-year-old spayed smoothcoat female. She is HW-negative and her vaccinations are UTD. Betsy is a sweet girl who is very gentle with young children. However, she needs to be the family’s only pet as she’s a bit nervous around other animals. Her very favorite thing is getting her tummy rubbed. Betsy longs for a forever home where she can have a family on whom to bestow kisses. She knows some commands and is housetrained. If you have giant-breed experience and a 6-foot fence, won’t you consider inviting Betsy into your heart?

12/20/2003

Sheila: is an absolutely adorable six month old female Saint Bernard. She has been spayed and microchipped, is up to date on her shots, and tested negative for heartworms. Sheila loves people – she’ll follow you everywhere! – and other dogs. It might be best for her to go to a home that doesn’t have cats since she likes to bark at them and chase them. Sheila currently lives in Tulsa, OK, but her owner is willing to drive most of the way if a wonderful family in Texas wants to adopt her. Sheila will be a wonderful addition to the lucky family that adopts her! 12/19/2003

Baby Doll: is a beautiful loving adult Female saint, Her weight is 134 lbs She was spayed about a year ago by the Saint Rescue Foundation. She is currently on heart Guard protection, she is current on all shots, Rabies given this month. She is house trained prefers indoor/outdoor lifestyle She does not like to be fenced in. She Doesn’t climb but will dig under or chew on or butt with head until she gets through. For this reason the owners can not keep her. We recommend a $45. electric pet charger (contact your local horse and cattle feed stores) They sell enough wire to cover any yard 3 times over for about $12. After she touches the wire once or twice the charger can be turn off because she will never touch it again. This low voltage chargers are very humane and will not harm a bird if one lands on it. Even better a forever home on a farm with no fences might be her best bet. Or a home which is a total indoor walk on leash to pottie home. Baby Doll was rescued from the Little Rock Pound about one year ago. She is house broken and does nicely indoors. She is a short haired saint, so shedding will not be a problem for indoor living. Baby Doll is not people, dog or cat aggressive. In other words she loves every body and their dog Her health in general is good, she is due to have her teeth cleaned. Baby Doll’s Habits in general ? friendly, lazy, does have attachment issues she will do anything to be around people. She currently on Diamond( no corn ) dog food, This can be found at your local horse and cattle feed stores or Race Bros farm supply. She is currently being fostered near Little Rock Arkansas. 12/19/2003

Liz: Liz is an 18 month old female. She weighs under 100 pounds and has some growing left to do. Poor Lizzie has come back into rescue. She needs to be with a family that is active and can keep her busy. She was so excited to see her foster mom again that she kept kissing her with joy! Tizzy Lizzie’s a really sweet girl but is a teenager at heart so she can get herself into trouble when left alone for long periods of time. It would be best to crate her when you are not home. 12/19/2003

Barnaby: 2 year old. Just came into rescue 10/25. He seems to be a friendly boy. Barnaby was a stray so we do not have any prior history. He will be getting neutered this week and also all his vaccinations. Unfortunately he has a cough so there will be an up-date soon on his health and social skills. He does enjoy car rides and walk well on a leash. UPDATE; Barnaby has had a tough time. The poor boy had several health problem due to being neglected but is doing fine now. He just needed to be taken care of and to be put on antibiotics. Barnaby is a real lover and just a pleasure to have around. He walks nicely on a leash and knows his basic commands. Barnaby loves to steal slippers and entice his foster mom into retrieving them. UP-DATE; Barnaby is a wonderful boy. He is completely housetrained and can be trusted loose in the house during the evening hours. His hearing is poor so sometimes when he hears a noise he doesn’t know what direction it is coming from. He is food aggressive with other animals so it would be best to feed him treats and food separate from his other furry friends. Barnaby is a real low key fellow that enjoys laying around and getting his tummy rubbed. He walks like a gentleman on the leash and knows his basic commands. Barnaby was a very ill boy when he came into rescue but he is off all medication and is healthy once again.12/19/2003

Benny: wonderful 3 year old male St. Bernard. Benny lost his home when his family divorced and neither party could keep him. Benny gets along with other dogs very well. He is a mellow, sweet boy who would love to be part of a new family. Neutered, shots, microchip. 12/19/2003

Darla: This beautiful girl was rescued from a shelter in Missouri after her owners gave her up because she was “too big” for them. She is 2 years old. She is great with other dogs, cats, and children. She loves to romp and play and would do great in a multiple dog household. She does try to climb chain link so a wooden fence is a MUST. She is very gentle and sweet and very well mannered. She will make a great dog for anyone who wants a big lover! 12/17/2003

GEORGE: is estimated to be between 3-4 years old. He is a rough-coat male that weighs in at around 120 lbs. George is smaller than your average male, but very well proportioned. He is a very handsome, friendly guy. George is neutered, current on all shots, & has been heartworm tested. This guy is being fostered in a doggie day care & is doing wonderfully! He loves being with all the other dogs, & loves everyone who comes into the place. George loves to go for rides, and is always the first one in the vehicle! While having him in this foster care situation, we believe that George may be hard of hearing, or can only hear certain tones. We are having him tested. We believe that George should go to a home with another dog. George seems to take cues from the other dogs, since he cannot hear too well. If you have experience with a hearing impaired dog, or feel that George is the right fit for your family please contact us! 12/17/2003

BANJO: is a 22 month old male St. Barnard. He is currently 145 lbs., UTD on all vaccines, neutered, housebroken, dog & horse friendly and people loving. We have been told that he will crate, but haven’t had to do so yet. Banjo was found in WV on a concrete slab having a seizure. Since taken into Rescue, he takes meds twice an day and has not had one since. He adores people and makes a GREAT companion for anyone who adores big, loving, canines, especially one that needs that little extra care. A home where someone is home most of the time and/or has other dogs would be perfect for Banjo. He loves the company. 12/17/2003

Catrina: Catrina is a ‘young’ female smooth coat Saint Bernard. She is housebroken but has a LOT of puppy energy. Catrina weighs approximately 85 lbs and could definitely use to put on some weight. Catrina MUST be an only pet or be in a home with another Saint Bernard or giant breed dog. It appears that Katrina has been kenneled for some time and needs work on her socialization skills as she’s a very strong, robust, energetic girl. We have seen Catrina’s interaction with children and she seems to understand she has to be gentle with them. Would you like to give Catrina a ‘forever’ home?? 12/15/2003

Pilgrim: 5 month old long hair male puppy. Pilgrim earned his name because he was rescued the day before Thanksgiving. His people moved out and left him with no food in the home. A cleaning company found him, thin and sad. He is looking forward to a new life in a home that appreciates him. He is very sweet and loves everyone. 12/13/2003

BENTLEY: is the Saint of your dreams. Gentle, affectionate and laid-back, this 3 year old guy loves nothing better than to sit beside you on the sofa. He’s neutered, housetrained, UTD on shots, and HW-negative. He’s gentle with kids as you can see from the picture of him with his foster mom’s 4 year old daughter, Allison. He likes to play with other dogs and has been known to sleep with a cat curled up beside him. A fenced yard is preferred but is not essential. 12/13/2003

DUKE: is a playful, friendly 9 month old boy. He is neutered, vaccinated, and HW-negative. Though he isn’t completely housetrained, he’s making progress and has learned to bark when he needs to go out to “take care of business”. Duke is friendly with other dogs and is unknown with cats. He would do best in a family with older kids as he still has lots of puppy enthusiasm. He’s a smart little guy who has potential to be a wonderful dog once he gets past the goofy puppy stage. Duke’s ideal family will have a fenced yard and will be willing to work with him on obedience and “house manners”. 12/13/2003

Brutus #2: Brutus is a darling little seven month old smoothcoat boy. Currently weighing only about 80 pounds, he will probably be a bit on the small side as an adult. He’s neutered, vaccinated and HW-negative. Friendly with cats and other dogs, Brutus would like a canine playmate. He’s fine with children, though he does get a little excited and would probably knock over toddler-age kids. Brutie’s ideal family will have children and another dog, and will be committed to teaching him basic obedience. A fenced yard would be a plus. 12/13/2003

Mercedes: is a 1 year old spayed Rough coat female St. Bernard. She is up to date on all her shots including the vaccination for Lyme Disease. She is currently on heartworm preventative and Frontline. Her weight is 94 lbs. She currently lives with 5 children ages 14 to 2 years old. She also lives with other dogs and cats. She does like to be the alpha dog. She has been to puppy classes for socialization but she could use continued training for socialization and also for obedience. She has a habit of pulling on the leash but with some training I know she can be a well behaved loving pet. She already is an affectionate dog, but tends to get excited easily. She likes to be the center of attention. 12/11/2003

Sammy: is a 9 week old male mix and is located in AZ. We are told that his mother was a Chow mix when he and his littermates were left with the Vet’s office. Sammy is settling into his foster home and can be a little shy at first. He is a very loving puppy and bonds quickly to a kind hand! At this time, Sammy is crate trained, relatively housebroken and learning to walk on a lead. He lives with other dogs in the household and seems to be content. As he is a puppy, he will require a lifetime commitment as well as lots of patience and a sense of humor while he is growing up. We anticipate him to be about the size of his mother when he matures. 12/9/2003

Brutus: is a nice 5 year old neutered male. He is a longhaired guy, recently the subject of a bad haircut! Up to date on shots and housebroken, he knows some basic commands. He is very good with people and children. Brutus does well with other dogs, but does not quite realize his size, so larger would probably be better. He is unknown with cats. He is an owner surrender due to a move. Saint Bernard experience and fenced yard preferred. (Sorry, not the best photo!) 12/8/2003

Cornelius: (aka Corny) is an 8 month old longhaired male. He is looking for a family to call his own. Corny gets along with other dogs…but, can be a little unsure at first! He loves people and has never met a stranger! Because he is a young dog, he will require some training and he will quickly learn the ropes as he settles into his new home. 12/6/2003

Tabitha: is a 20 month old spay female that weighs 122 pounds. She is very tall and when she gains her muscle she will be a good size for a female. Taba will need a owner who can be firm with her. She is well behaved and knows all her commands but tends to act like a big bully when allowed. She likes to bark when people come to the door but once in the house she craves all their attention. Taba has been raised with children and a cat so she can be very gentle when the situation requires it. She also had a German Shepard friend that she loved to play with but was never taught how to play politely. Her foster mom is teaching her how to act like a lady instead of a tomboy. This big girl loves to go for long walks, rides in the car, and belly rubs. Her beautiful soulful eyes tell you that she is really a lady at heart that desperately wants a family to love once again. 12/6/2003

Pepper: is a truly beautiful longhaired female Saint Bernard. The vet believes that Pepper is about two years old. She has been spayed, is current on her vaccinations, and is on heartworm preventative. I honestly believe that at one time Pepper must have been a housedog. Whenever I let her out of her kennel to exercise, she wants to come in the house so very badly! So Pepper will only be placed with a family that will allow her to be in the house when they’re at home. Pepper absolutely loves to go for car rides – even if it means just going to the vet! She will be a wonderful, loving addition to the family that is fortunate enough to adopt her. 12/6/2003

Hugo: This handsome guy has had a rough start in life. He lived his first 3 years of life tied out in a yard. After breaking free from his chain, he was hit by a car and suffered a broken rear leg. His owner opted to have him destroyed but the animal hospital he was taken to persuaded him to turn the dog over to rescue. There they pinned his leg and nursed him while he awaited transport. He is now safe with us and recuperating! Although he won’t be able to go to his new home until November, pending a follow up and pin removal, we wanted to introduce him to you should he steal someone’s patient heart. He is great with other dogs, cats, and children. He is sweetheart! 12/4/2003

TITAN: is a 2 year old rough-coat male ( age estimated by a vet ). He weighs in at 138 lbs., & is around 30-40 lbs. or so underweight. This boy is going to be a really big guy! Titan is already neutered, current on all shots, has been heartworm tested . He is also housebroken. Titan is a very large boy with no training. He needs someone who can handle a dog of this size, plus a person who is willing to work with him & show him the way. Titan is very willing to learn, & loves spending time with his human companion. So much so, that he has some separation anxiety issues. When he is in the house while someone is home, he is a wonderful guy, he even likes lying in the bathtub to take a nap. He will tear up the house, if left alone for long periods of time. Titan is a dog that was never taught or shown anything, so he gets quite excited when he’s outside seeing everything around him. Titan is good with some dogs, but not all dogs, cats are out of the question ( they resemble a squirrel too much, in his mind! ). He’s a good loving dog who needs someone to love him, & have lots of patience with him. Titan is the kind of dog who would do great if he had a job! 12/4/2003

BRUISER: is a 3 1/2 year old ( estimated by vet ) rough-coat male. He weighs in at 110 lbs., but could use to gain another 20 lbs. or so. Bruiser is neutered, utd on all his shots, has been heartworm tested ,& started on his flea & heartworm preventative. Bruiser is crate trained & walks well on a leash. He is good with children. Bruiser is a dominant male. He gets along well with other dogs. He prefers submissive males or any females. Bruiser needs some obedience training & some basic house manners. He is a lovable guy who really enjoys giving kisses & receiving belly rubs! Bruiser is a very people oriented guy, & not shy at all! This boy loves the water, & really enjoys a good drink from the hose. This guy was found as a stray, someone left him tied to our foster girl’s mailbox. Bruiser will be a good family companion! 12/4/2003

SHELBY: is a 2 year old rough-coat female, with a very loving disposition. Weighs around 105lb, she is current on all shots , is on heartworm preventative, & is spayed. She is housebroken and gets along with other large dogs, however people are her companion of choice! Shelby probably wouldn’t do well with cats, although if you tell he no, she will stop chasing them, for the moment anyway. She has a little separation anxiety when left alone but calms down after awhile. Listening to classical music when she is alone, helps. Because she has been moved around ,she does have some overall anxiety, but with some temporary medication and a stable home, I think she will settle down quickly. She also loves a good chew bone, loves her head petted, and especially loves to give kisses! Shelby just wants someone to love on her all the time. Are you the right family for her? 12/4/2003

Zeus: zeus is a 2 1/2 year old 120 lb. Male intact l.h. needing a new home due to the owners allergies to him. He is a well behaved saint that responds well to commands. The owner would walk him off leash as he listens so well. He is good with all kids and other dogs. Has not been exposed to cats. 12/4/2003

Marta: marta is a 2 1/2 year old spayed female l.h. 105 lbs. Needing a new home due to owner moved. She is a obedient saint that can get along with cats, but not dogs. She will need to be the only dog in the family. She is good with kids also. She had some formal training already. 12/4/2003

Annie: Annie is about 8 months old, and we believe will be a longhair when her coat comes in she was found in a neglected condition and has a slow gait that might mean a form of displasia she will be vet checked shortly and rescue will know more about her condition she is super sweet and very calm. and gentle. She is great with other dogs, and loves to lay in her dog bed for comfort. 12/4/2003

Remy: and Tico: Although they look almost like twins these two big boys are two year old brothers and have had a tough start. They were rescued together, and we would like to place these two guys together, if possible. They are good dogs with potential. A little discipline and a lot of love would go a long way in raising these boys. They have both been neutered, are heart worm free, and are in good health…..ready to go to some lucky person. 12/1/2003

BAILEY #3: Three year old Bailey comes to Rescue due to allergies in the family. A shorthaired male who is neutered, UTD on shots, and HW-negative, Bailey would like his new family to be generous with tummy rubs. Initially wary of new people, he very quickly warms up (especially if there are treats involved). Our goal for Bailey is a Saint-experienced family with a fenced yard. Other dogs are okay but we’re not sure about cats. And he’d really love some kids to play with. 12/1/2003

Hardy: Hardy is approximately 7 month old male, rough coat Saint Bernard. He was found roaming the streets of Oklahoma City and someone with a big heart picked him up and housed him until he could come into rescue. Upon his arrival, he was taken to our vet’s office where he was diagnosed with a severe case of Erchlicia, both ears were infected and the infection had spread to his lymph nodes. His palatte count was so low that he was bleeding internally and had to go into ICU for intensive IV antibiotics. He has since been treated and is improving daily, but as you can see from his picture, he needs to gain quite a bit of weight. Hardy is a happy dog, who’s tail wags exuberantly. He shows signs of abuse and is extremely cautious of men, which his foster family is working to overcome. It appears that Hardy had never been allowed to come into the house, he’s terrified to walk through the door way but is slowly coming around with patience and love. Hardy gets along with everyone and everything and has not displayed any signs of aggressive. HARDY *UPDATE 11/29/2003

Billie Jean: 3 year old LH female. Billie is loving with all people and other dogs. She is a couch potato dog and likes being with people and going for rides in the car. She is house trained and really sweet. Looking for that special someone to adopt her. If you want a Saintly lap dog, Bille Jean would be happy to be a part of your home. 11/28/2003

Holli: 12 months old, LH female. Holli is a tall, pretty puppy. Great with people and other dogs. Being fostered in a home with cats, but the cats are still hiding and Holli has shown no interest. Holli was a run loose on the farm dog and we are working on house training. She is very intelligent and learning that being a house dog has it’s rewards. 11/28/2003

Rosie: is almost two years old, long hair with brindle markings. Rosie is house trained and likes to be with people. Gets along well with other dogs. Prefers being an indoor dog. 11/28/2003

Geronimo: 2 year old smooth coated male. Very active and happy dog. Would do best with older kids who have dog experience due to his activity level and size. Good with other dogs but might try to be the dominant male. Good with cats also. He is house trained and has some obedience. Geronimo is a very good boy who came to rescue because the alpha male dog in his previous home and him had issues. 11/28/2003

Maliika: 2 year old female. Rough coat. Cow faced. Super sweet and loving. Came to rescue from Alamogordo, NM. She was left there in a rest area. She will need obedience training and we are working on her house training. She is good with other dogs but a little afraid of kids. She tends to run from them and takes a little while to warm up to men. She has not shown any aggression of any sort towards either kids or men. Maliika is very laid back and easy going in the house. She is not destructive and rides well in the car. 11/28/2003

Mozart: 6 1/2 year old male. Rough coat. Mozart is a well behaved older gentlemen who came to rescue when his owners moved. He is very fat due to a thyroid problem but has started meds to correct the problem and should start loosing weight soon. Moze is great with other dogs and kids. He loves to get all the attention he can. Moze is currently working on his basic obedience in his foster home. He is house trained and not destructive when left alone in the house. Mozart would like a home where he can lounge all day long since that is what he does best. 11/28/2003

Drew: 4 year old male. Smooth coat. Very nice dog. Has some obedience but will need more training. Would like to be the dominant male in the house but doesn’t need to be. Loves to lay on the couch or bed with the kids and hang out. Drew like to help with everything that you do. Would like an owner who is willing to play tug and chase in the yard with him. Came to rescue from a shelter. Owners turned him in because they did not want him anymore. 11/28/2003

SHANE: is a playful14-month-old roughcoat boy who is longing for a family of his own. He is neutered, up-to-date on shots, heartworm-negative, and housetrained. He’s been with children as young as 6 months. Shane does well with submissive dogs but isn’t crazy about cats. Giant-breed-experienced owners are preferred. And he’ll need a fenced yard. 11/27/2003

Brandy: is a young, absolutely adorable female Saint Bernard. Sadly, Brandy’s mom lost her job and couldn’t afford to keep her anymore. Brandy is just about to celebrate her birthday – she’ll be one year old this month! She is used to spending most of her time in the house, so she needs to be adopted by a family that will let her come inside. Brandy has been spayed, is current on her shots, and is on heartworm preventative. Her mom said that she is good with other dogs, cats, and kids. Brandy is an absolute sweetheart!! 11/26/2003

Alvin: is a very handsome, young male Saint. Alvin is very smart – he knows how to “sit”, and “down” (as long as it involves a belly rub!). The vet believes that Alvin is about 18 months old. Alvin has been neutered, vaccinated, tested for heartworms, and is on heartworm preventative. He is an absolute love! Alvin will be a wonderful addition to the family that is fortunate enough to adopt him. 11/26/2003

Beethoven: is a very sweet male Saint Bernard who is at the Paris, Texas Animal Control. Unfortunately, adoptions are few and far between in this economically challenged county. Can you give him the wonderful home that he deserves? 11/26/2003

Bowser: is one cool dog! When this handsome fellow came into Rescue, Bowser had such a severe case of heartworms, he had to undergo the treatment for them twice. But he’s “fit as a fiddle” now and ready for his wonderful, forever home. Bowser has a delightful personality – and he loves to roll on his back kicking all four feet up in the air! The vet guesstimates that Bowers is just under two years old. He has now been neutered, brought current on his vaccinations, and has just the cutest white eyelashes ever! 11/26/2003

Emma: is an 18-month old smooth-coat Saint. She was kept chained and isolated from her family before being surrendered to rescue. She’s very happy being part of her foster family. She’s excellent in the house; gentle and quiet. Emma is very tolerant of cats and other dogs and friendly to people. She allows her teeth brushed, is good on leash, and tolerates baths. She loves to have her face, head and neck rubbed, uses a doggie door and is learning a few commands. She’s a quick study. As she is an intact female and has no veterinary records, she still has to be heartworm tested, started on preventives, vaccinated, and spayed. Quite lean at 103.5 pounds, she will probably mature at about 125 to 130 pounds. She is a very sweet girl and needs a loving forever home. 11/25/2003

Sam: is a beautiful, one year old short haired dog. He is an owner surrender and the owners assured me that he gets along well with people, other dogs and cats. Sam has been kept outside, so he is not housebroken. He is neutered, utd on shots and heartworm free ready to be placed into a loving home. 11/25/2003

Sandy: a nine month old rough coat female saint. This loving dog is very playful, loves to be around people. She does very well with other dogs and would make a wonderful addition to a family. She does need some work with house training, but could be easily trained. She is up to date on shots, spayed, and on heart worm preventative she is ready to go!!!!! 11/25/2003

Brandi: This pretty little nine month old girl is much the same as her sister, Sandy. You will find her a little more reserved until she gets to know you, but she is a friendly dog. She gets along great with her other friends and would make a good family dog. She is ready to go up to date on shots, heartworm free, spayed, and anxious to find a place to be happy. 11/25/2003

Molly: This sweet gal has had a rough start. She was found roaming the streets and picked up by animal control. She was never claimed. She was adopted by a wonderful woman who took great care of her and obedience trained her. Unfortunately, the little dogs in the house were very old and couldn’t handle Molly’s spunkiness. Molly is now with us and is looking for a new home. She is great with other dogs and children. She is obedience trained and crate trained. She is 2 years old. She would make anyone a great forever friend! 11/24/2003

Clarence: This BIG goof ball is such a lovable man! He loves belly rubs and loves to play. He gets along great with other dogs and enjoys a good romp. He was given up to a shelter and was rescued by a veterinary student after she neutered him for the shelter program. She could not keep him but wanted the best for him so she contacted us. He is between 2-3 years old. He loves everyone and everything!!! If you are looking for BIG lap dog, Clarence is your man! 11/24/2003

Hank: This very tall order is such a ham! He loves to run and romp and rub on you like a he was a cat! He is great with other dogs and is just beside himself to meet new people! He can’t wait for the pets to begin! Hank was picked up by animal control after he accidentally got out of his yard. His owners decided to leave him at animal control. He is 18 months old. He is a roughcoat but has been shaved down for the warmer months. He is just a load of fun! 11/24/2003

Buster: This gorgeous boy has been through his share of ups and downs and is looking for a home to give him the lift he needs. As a young pup, he was ran over by his owners with their car, in his own driveway. He suffered a shattered pelvis and received no immediate medical attention. The owners returned him to the breeder and implied he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. After receiving their new pup in exchange for Buster, the breeder soon realized he suffered much more at the hands of the his previous owner. After extensive x-rays it was determined that he had a broken pelvis. He was operated on immediately and was plated and pinned. Today he is doing wonderfully. He is on Glucosamine tablets to encourage healthy joints. He joined our group when his new owners decided he was just too big for them. He is great with kids and other dogs. He does not like cats. He is looking for a loving home that understands that he may not be up to par in his elderly years due to his hardware hips. 11/24/2003

BRUNO: Bruno is a four year old smoothcoat male. Neutered, housetrained, HW-negative, and UTD on vaccinations, Bruno is a healthy boy who favorite thing is hanging out with his people. A fenced yard isn’t required. He’s gentle with children and other critters. In fact, one day Bruno yawned and his foster mom’s small parrot flew into his mouth. Though it caught him by surprise, and he could have chomped down, Bruno just spit the bird out. He’s a real sweet fella! 11/23/2003

Joe: is an affectionate, laid-back, neutered 6-years-young roughcoat boy. His vaccinations are up-to-date and he is HW-negative and he is housetrained. Joe has been with children and likes nothing better than being with the family. He’s good with most other dogs but has never seen a cat. Joe is happiest when someone is slipping treats to him under the table, hence he’s about 10-12 pounds overweight. His ideal family will be willing to help him slim down. A fenced yard is a plus but is not essential. 11/23/2003

CHEWBACCA 1: Chewbacca 1 is a positively gorgeous 3 year old longhaired male who has been with a wonderful foster family for about a year and is now looking for a very special home of his own. He is neutered, up to date on shots, housebroken, and HW-negative. He has had obedience training but at 160 pounds would benefit from placement with a giant breed-experienced owner. Initially “frisky” with female dogs, he quickly befriends them. Male dogs, on the other hand, bring out his alpha side. He’s wonderful with people of all ages, including children. Chewy would probably do best as the family’s only pet, and his ideal home will have a six-foot fence. 11/23/2003

Tuffy: Tuffy is a 111lb male, rough coat Saint Bernard, the vet estimates him to be approximately a year old. Tuffy was found living in a barn in Eastern Oklahoma. After trying to get the boy to leave, the people contacted us to ‘rescue’ this poor boy. He was ridden with ticks and fleas and looked as if he hadn’t eaten in weeks. Tuffy had a severe ear infection and has received antibiotics. He is dog friendly but does show slight food aggression, which is common for dogs that have been denied food. His foster family is working with Tuffy to teach him basic manners. He’s doing well on house training but still likes to counter surf. Would you like to give Tuffy a forever home? 11/23/2003

Bonnie: is a two year old smooth coat Saint Bernard who was surrender to the rescue due to her owners’ illness. Shortly after she came into rescue she blessed us with a litter of 10 puppies. All the puppies have been weaned and Bonnie is now ready for a permanent home of her own. Bonnie is housebroken, walks well on a leash, knows her basic commands and will be a wonderful addition to any family. Due to enough exercise she is a little high energy right now but after a couple hours of companionship she settles down and is a GREAT girl! Would you like to give Bonnie a permanent home? Bonnie has been spayed, current on all shots and is microchipped. 11/22/2003

Lady: is a 3 year old spay female. When first tested she showed signs of food aggression but as of late has not shown any signs at all. She seems to get along well with other dogs but cats are unknown. Lady enjoys meeting people and was raised with children. She absolutely loves having her tummy rubbed and is good about being brushed. She walks nicely on a leash and knows all her basic commands. This poor gal was kept outside all her life and deserves to have a family and home to call her own. 11/22/2003

Lexi: is a year old spay female. The poor gal has not had a nice life but is very friendly in spite of it. She has a bladder infection so we are teaching her bathroom habits at this time. Lexi is good with children, dogs, and cats. She is a very laid back dog and seems to enjoy just laying around. Lexi occasionally has a slight limp and she has shown some arthritis in the right shoulder. At this point in time she is given an aspirin when she limps. She only weight 71 pounds but is putting weight on nicely. 11/22/2003

Trooper: 3 year old male. Rough coat. Dominant male but good with other dogs and kids. Needs all forms of training but very people motivated so he should be easy to train. Loves to ride in the car and pretend he is a couch potato. 11/21/2003

Boris: is a 7 year old rough coated male. Came to rescue from an owner who could no longer take care of him. He is house trained and well behaved in the house but still likes to run and play when outside. Boris is very people motivated. Rescue would like to find him a home where he can finish out his life peacefully and with an owner who will give him the attention and love he deserves. 11/21/2003

Budda: Shorthair, neutered male, approx. 2.5 years old, medium sized. He is a very sweet boy gets alone with other dogs. He was left at a shelter because his owner was moving to Europe. He is housebroke and it appears that he was loved. He does have a minor cherry eye and dry eye. Because of a prior botched entropy surgery he is not a canidate for surgery because of lack of tear ducks. But all he needs is eye drops once a day, just like humans have too. His personality is calm, quiet and likes to snuggle. 11/21/2003

Buddy: is a 4 year old male the is current on shots and neutered. He is house trained and is good with people. A fenced in yard is required. Buddy is just a very laid back big boy waiting for someone to give him some love. 11/21/2003

Jack: is a handsome 2 1/2 year old rough coat male who is best described as a very happy guy. Jack was surrendered because his family didn’t have the space to dedicate to this gentle giant. Jack was raised with children, cats and seems to like other dogs. Jacks knows sit and down, but that’s about it. He needs work on his house manners and is not crate trained. A special, patient person who can commit to a routine of obedience training and companionship is what he needs. Saint Bernard experience and a fenced yard is preferred. Jack is to be neutered, heartworm tested and brought up to date on shots. 11/18/2003

Dudley: is a very special needs smooth coat neutered guy. Up to date on shots, HW negative, he is currently being treated for Lyme Disease and doing just fine. He knows some basic commands and is fine with the other dogs and cat in his foster home. He was turned in as a stray to shelter and thought to have come from an abusive situation. We believe he is between 1-2 years old. While he has a huge head and large paws, he is quite thin but eating well. He seems fine with strangers but unknown with children. At this time he is very insecure, wanting to keep his foster parents in sight. Saint Bernard experience and fenced yard preferred. 11/18/2003

Sassy: is a friendly almost 3 year old long haired female. She is spayed and up to date on shots. Her current weight is around 114# as she is recovering from having a litter. Sassy has been shown, but will need a refresher course in house and obedience manners. She does well with other dogs and seems to have no problems with cats. Her experience with children is limited. She is fine with strangers. Giant breed experience and fenced yard preferred. 11/18/2003

Panda: sweet baldfaced 1 year old St. Bernard. Panda adores people and loves to play with other dogs. She is a fun girl! She came into Rescue with her two sisters, both have been placed and now Panda is waiting for her new, forever home. Spayed, shots, microchip – $200 Adoption Fee 11/18/2003

SEBASTIAN: This gorgeous smoothcoat 4 year old boy is neutered, housetrained, up-to-date on shots, and heartworm-negative. A recent owner-surrender, he would dearly love a new family to play with and give him the attention he deserves. He has had some obedience training but could use a little help in perfecting his leash manners. Sebastian has lived with kids, cats and submission dogs. He would do best with kids over 9 or 10 because, at 150 pounds, he’s a big boy with a rambunctious tail A large-breed-experienced family is a must, and a fenced yard is strongly preferred. 11/16/2002

MARY: is a delightful little 8 month old roughcoat female. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and HW-negative. A sweet and gentle girl, she’s great with kids and loves nothing better than to romp with other dogs. She’s curious about cats. Mary has begun to learn some commands. Her new owner must be willing to take her for obedience lessons. A bit on the thin side at 82#, Mary will be quite the cutie once she puts on a few pounds. 11/14/2003

DAISEY: 3 year old spayed female. Roughcoat. 113#. Shots UTD. HW-negative. Though formerly an outdoor dog, Daisey has made great progress in housetraining. TANK: is a 14 month old rough-coat male. He weighs in at around 106 lbs., & is still growing. Tank is neutered, current on all shots, & has been heartworm tested. He is housebroken & has wonderful house manners. This guy is super sweet & is a social butterfly! Tank feels that every lap was meant for him to crawl into…….he is just a big lap puppy. He is good with other dogs, walks well on the lead, & knows a couple of commands (Sit & Lay Down). Tank will do fine with older children, just because he does not realize his size. Tank’s hind feet are “pigeon-toed”. Our vet said that it is mainly from his diet & lack of exercise, so he is on a good premium food & getting regular exercise now, since coming into rescue. He does need to put on a few pounds, he’s a bit under weight at the moment. Tank will make a great companion. 11/14/2003

PATSY: is a 4 year old smooth-coat female, but acts like a puppy! She weighs in at around a 100 lbs. or so. Patsy is spayed, utd on all her shots, is started on her flea & heartworm preventative, and is micro-chipped. Patsy rides well in the car, but could use some work with walking on a lead. Patsy is one of 6 dogs that came in from a cruelty case. She is housebroken & crate trained. Patsy gets along well with other dogs , & does fine around cats. She would prefer to go to a home with children, because she absolutely adores them! Patsy is very motherly towards them. She also knows a couple commands. Patsy would love to have a family of her own to smother her with hugs & attention! One minute she’s happy to be doing laps in the yard, the next minute she’s just as happy to be sitting in your lap! Patsy is a great dog with a great personality. She will make a wonderful addition to anyone’s family! 11/14/2003

Bosley: Hi, I’m Bosley, I’m a 11 month old smoothie and am full of energy and play. I’m living here at Saints Heaven just waiting on the perfect family to “call me their own”. I love to run and play and give kisses – all I want in return is a family to love me and give me hugs and kisses in return. I am not quite housebroken but I am almost there. I was turned into rescue by my 2nd family because they couldn’t keep me in the neighbor hood that they live in. Please adopt me especially if you have children – I would keep them entertained for hours and they would sleep at night after playing with me all day. Bosley “Bosman” has been adopted by a wonderful family and is now running on the beach at Hilton Head. Bosman, we miss you – keep in touch with your rescue Mom and Dad and your Saintly brothers and sisters. We love you. 11/14/2003

He has poor muscle tone in his rear legs due to improper development from poor nutrition and poor living conditions. He sometimes went days without food or fresh water. Samson is heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. Samson, who just turned 5, is BLIND. Because of the poor health conditions he was kept in, Samson has aged faster than most dogs. He has bilateral cataracts. He is a very gentle and loving dog who deserves a second chance at a good life. He gets along exceptionally well once he memorizes the house and yard. He can see shadows and light and things that are up close to him. We are trying to raise enough money to give him the gift of sight cataract surgery. He gets along great with other dogs and cats. Rembrandt: 2 year old male longhair, not altered yet, needs to be only dog but gets along with cats and rabbits. Was teased by neighborhood kids so no children is a must. 10/28/2003

BONO: Big-n-Sweet, this 3 year old male St. Bernard came into Rescue because his owners don’t have time for him…young parents with 3 small children, etc. Bono gets along with other dogs, is good with cats and children. However, he does need obedience training to be better on a leash, and learn his basic commands. Neutered, shots, microchip. 10/26/2003

Samson: is a handsome 17 month-old male Saint Bernard who currently lives in El Paso, Texas. His dad, who is in the military, is being transferred to Germany, so Samson is looking for a wonderful, forever home. According to his mom, Samson is very smart, and fully housebroken. An absolute sweetie, he gets along great with kids and small dogs. Samson is current on his vaccinations, is on heartworm preventative, and has been neutered and micro-chipped. 10/26/2003

Gunda: is an 11yr old female who was rescued from a very neglectful situation. She was infested with fleas and ticks. Miraculously was heartworm neg. She had a large tumor in her abdomen, which was removed along with her being spay. She is loving with kids, dogs, and cats. We want to find her a forever home to be loved and pampered for the rest of her senior yrs. 10/24/2003

Brandy: is a 3 year old spay female that is up to date on all her vaccinations. She is housebroken and is completely trust worthy being left home alone. Brandy is very affection and loves getting attention. She just about wriggles herself to pieces, with joy, when she sees you in the morning. Brandy is petite as she only weights 85 pounds but is gaining weight nicely. She is definitely a Velcro saint as she enjoys being by your side at all times. She seems to get along well with cats and dogs. 10/24/2003

Mason: Mason is a one year old Saint that was graciously saved by one of our fosters. He has a wonderful temperament and loves life. He is living the good life on a large farm where he can run as much as he wants and come inside to get as much love as he wants! Way to go Mason! 10/23/2003

Lucy: This adorable sweetheart just happens to be Chuck’s 10 month old daughter. She came to us after her owners returned her to the breeder. The breeder was moving to Florida and could not keep her just as she could not keep Chuck. She gets along great with other dogs and is wonderful with everyone she meets. She hasn’t had much obedience training but with a little direction she is going be one well behaved little lady. She is crate trained. She is a doll and will melt your heart! 10/22/2003

Sanibel: This cutie is just a ball to be around!! She is 8 months old. Her mother was a pure Saint Bernard and the father is unknown. We believe he may be a Golden Retriever or Collie. She will probably be on the smaller side as an adult. She is very personable. She loves other dogs and is great with children and adults. She is a lot of fun and would make anyone a great dog to have! 10/22/2003

Sara: is a 140lbs., 5 yr old spayed female, who craves attention. She’s been raised with small children and is dog friendly. Cats are unknown at this time. Sarah’s owners are heart-broken that they had to give her up but their second child has medical problems to which the family has no control over. You will find that Sara loves long walk, big hugs, and chasing her tail. 10/20/2003

Seraphim: Sera is a 2 1/2 year old long hair female. Sera is house trained, good with kids age 5 and above. Friendly with other dogs and mini horse. She will go after small critters like birds and hamsters. 10/19/2003

Tiffany: sweet, gentle and laid back, this 3 year old female St. Bernard gets along with other dogs, is good with children and just wants to be part of a loving family. She came into Rescue because her previous owners were having financial problems and could not care for her. 10/19/2003

Angie II: is a 6 year old spay female that is up to date on all her vaccinations. She is small for a saint only weighing 80 pounds. She could stand to gain some weight but will probably not get any larger than 90 pounds. It breaks your heart to see how submissive Angie is. She is eating up the attention and love that her foster mom is giving her. Angie acts like this is the first time she has been given any attention and tends to have anxiety attacks when her foster mom leaves her home alone. This poor gal may have been abused but there is no real way to tell why she is so submissive. Due to the fact that we do not really know why Angie acts this way it would be best to place her in a home with adults and she would do much better in a home where she is the only pet. Due to her unknown past and behavior Angie will need a patience owner who is willing to spend ample time teaching her to become self confident. This sweet angel adores her foster mom and is even warming up to the rest of the family by occasionally going over to them for some hugs and kisses. 10/17/2003

Hannah Banana: from Louisiana (I didn’t name her – but it fits her perfectly!) is a very, very sweet, shorthaired female. Hannah was only 7 months old when she came into Rescue last January in a big hurry! Her daddy was in the military and was deployed overseas the same week that her mommy was due to have a baby. I thought that I had placed Hannah in what would be her wonderful, forever home. She lived in the house, and had five boys to keep her company! Sadly, the parents are getting divorced, so Hannah is now back in Rescue. Hannah has been spayed, is current on her vaccinations, and tested negative for heartworms. She loves everybody and everything and will be a wonderful addition to the family that adopts her. 10/17/2003

Sable: Sable is a 4 year old rough coat. She was taken out of a very bad situation. When we found her she had no food, no water and was on a very short chain. Sable is a great girl and will make a wonderful addition to someone’s family as soon as she can be adopted. Before she can be adopted, Sable will need several things done. Sable is heartworm positive, entropic in both eyes, has a severe yeast infection in both ears, is about 30 pounds underweight, needs to be spayed, has a terrible cold that may be kennel cough and has an open wound on her nose from sunburn and fly bites. Her bill at the vets is only $350 right now, but she hasn’t had any procedures done yet. This cost is only for her boarding (as she is too sick to stay with us at our home at this time), x-rays, shots and a bath (she was infested with fleas). Sable has been adopted by a wonderful family that lives very close to us! We are delighted at the quick progress she has made and continue to marvel at her attitude! Thanks to all of those that gave to Sable! 10/15/2003

Lola: Lola is and 8 weeks old. She was left in the nightly drop box at the pound along with her brother is is pictured here (he was placed). Lola is a lovely little girl, loves to play, but most of all loves to cuddle. She’ll even sleep through the entire night in the bed with you. She would make a wonderful addition to any home. 10/15/2003

Callie: is an almost 4 yo rough coat spayed female. She was turned in by her owners. Their children had developed allergies. She is a sweet, beautiful, true type saint. She loves kids, is housebroken and is a large female at 150 pounds. 10/15/2003

Penny: Please consider opening your heart and your home to a very sweet older Saint Bernard. Penny was eight years old in January. She is a beautiful rough female. Penny has been vetted and was professionally groomed when she went to her foster home on May 24th. Penny’s owner left her behind when he had to move out of state and into an apartment. Penny has adapted to her foster home with ease. She is staying with a young male Saint, and the two of them get along very well. Introductions went very smoothly, and in no time, Penny had a new friend. Penny is housetrained and sleeps in her own crate at night. Penny will take her crate with her to her new home. Penny rides well in the car and is very friendly with people. She has had some exposure to young children, and she handled that just fine. Despite Penny’s age, she is in very good shape. She runs and plays, shows no signs of arthritis, and her teeth are nice and white. Penny needs someone who is willing to love her and take good care of her for whatever years she has left. She’s a sweetheart of a dog, and is waiting for that perfect family to take her home forever. 10/14/2003

YOGI: is a 12 month old smooth-coat male. He weighs in at about 125 lbs. & is still growing! Yogi is neutered, current on all his shots, & is on flea and heartworm preventative. He is also housebroken & crate trained. Yogi has been to obedience class, but could use a refresher course. Yogi is just a big love bug & is very laid back in the house. He is good with other dogs & even cats too. Yogi is also good with children. We prefer him to go to a home with older children, just because he would tend to knock over smaller children. He is not very aware of his size yet, & would have the “bowling ball” effect on toddlers! Yogi is a happy boy & could really use another young canine companion to play with. Someone who would love to be his partner in crime! If left alone in the yard, he seems to find himself in all kinds of mischievous situations. We feel if he has a younger play pal to keep him busy, this would redirect his energy! Yogi will make a great companion & a wonderful friend! 10/14/2003

Jacob: This guy has had a really rough start in life. He was found by an animal control officer in the parking lot of a local animal shelter. He was matted with feces and mud. His eyes were crusted shut with mucous. He had fly bites on his nose and ears. His ears had been burned. His ribs and bones were protruding. This poor puppy was severely abused and starved. The shelter contacted us but would not release him to us because of his unknown fate due to his poor health condition. He was finally taken into our care and he is making great progress. He is eating like a champ and putting on weight. He was groomed and shaved and is looking more and more healthy everyday. He is 6-7 months in age. He is shy but warms up quickly. He is getting along well with his foster brothers and sisters. He is looking for a very loving home. He is going to need a lot of TLC and rehabilitation. He needs a wonderful forever home! 10/13/2003

Grover: This cute guy has character! He came to us after his owners failed to claim him from their local shelter. He is such a sweet boy and will melt your heart the moment you meet him. He has a “Muppet” characteristic. he has only 3 toes on one of his feet! He is quite the lover. He is 3-4 years old. He likes other dogs, cats, and kids. He is very laid back and well mannered. Would you like to give this love bug a forever home? 10/13/2003

Evan: is a 1.5 yo rough coat neutered male. All puppy and full of himself. He was turned into a shelter for being dog aggressive. He was intact (not neutered) and I suspect the other dog was also an intact male. Since Evan has had “brain surgery” ie neutered so he can think with the correct brain, he is doing fine w/ other dogs. 10/13/2003

Hoss: Hi, I’m Hoss, also known as “Mr. Sweetie” I am a 3 year old Rough Coat male that weighs approximately 120 pounds. I’m currently living at Saint’s Heaven SBR and my rescue parents (especially my mom) is having a hard time deciding to let me go. But she knows that I deserve a family that will love me for life. I am laid back but I do love to play and I am so sweet – all I need is an occasional pat on the head and lots of LOVE. I in turn will give you lots of love and kisses. I along with my parents were turned into Rescue by our owner. Please adopt me – you won’t be disappointed. 10/12/2003

TOOEY: 3 yr. old, long haired female. SPECIAL NEEDS girl. Tooey spent her life in a cage as a brood bitch. She is not good with other animals (dogs or cats). But she is sooo loving with people. She is looking for all of the attention that she missed. Loves to lay in your lap and give kisses. She is crate trained and housebroken. 10/12/2003

PRECIOUS: 3 yr. old, long haired female. Precious is a petite little girl who is always looking for fun. She is high energy and loves to run and play. Ready for her forever home. 10/12/2003

DJ: 2 yr. old short haired male. DJ was rescued by a passerby who witnessed the owner of the dog beating him with a large chain. The passerby then called the police who got involved and had the owner release the dog to us. DJ is a true claustrophobic and cannot be crated. He is good with other dogs and cats. He is fearful of new people and I don’t think he should be placed in a home with children. He is very loving, but takes a few days to adjust to changes. He is not aggressive, but will bark in fear as he tries to find a place to hide when confronted with new people. He is not a dog who wants to go for outings to meet strangers. He is much more comfortable and happy being with a person or couple and laying in their laps. He is very sweet and gentle. 10/12/2003

Bertie: one a half year old long hair male. This boy is big and beautiful. Because of his size, we are looking for a home with 6 foot fencing and no tiny children or cats. He’s very social. House trained and learning to walk on a leash. 9/12/2003

Daisy Mae: is a 2 year old rough coat saint. She is UTD on all shots and is Spayed. She is good with one other dog but gets over whelmed with a big group. She loves to ride in the cars and go for long walks. She loves to have her belly rubbed and sleep close to you. 10/11/2003

Zena: & Zoe: are smooth coat sisters, recently arrived from a foster home in Vermont. They are spayed and up to date on shots. They are very calm girls, good with children, other dogs and cats. Both girls are quite tall, but very thin at this time. An ideal placement would be together. They are very close to each other. Zena appears to be the leader and Zoe the follower. Both know basic commands, were easily bathed. Saint experience and fenced yard preferred. Actual age unknown probably between 3 and 4 years. 10/8/2003

Angie: is a 5 year old spay female that is up to date on all her vaccinations. She walks well on a leash and knows basic commands. She gets along well with other dogs and seems to ignore cats. Angie’s tongue is always hanging out of her mouth but this doesn’t make her drool anymore than normal. Honestly I think it adds to her charm. She should be placed in a home with children that are at least 10 years old only because she doesn’t realize her size and may knock little ones over. 10/8/2003

Rootie: is a 9 month old female that has been spay. She is a very energetic lovable Saint. Rootie loves to play and is good with all dogs. She also loves kids. Kramer: This cute little ball of fluff is just 8 weeks old. He came from a shelter in the St. Louis area. He suffers from a congenital defect of the eyes called entropion. This is where the upper and lower lids of the eye turn inward and rub on the eye causing severe inflammation and ulcers. When Kramer came to us he could only see out of little slits. We took him to our rescue veterinarian who performed a surgery to “tack” his eyelids up and train them to stay open. It was a success! Kramer is doing very well and as you can see, his eyes are wide open! This pup may require future surgery on his eyes down the road so please consider this if you are interested in adopting him. We are not quite sure what he is, but he is not pure Saint Bernard. Although, he looks more and more like a Saint everyday! He gets along great with all animals and children. He is learning to be crate-trained. 10/3/2003

She also knows a few basic commands like; “SIT”, “STAY”, & “COME”, but she could use a refresher course in obedience training. Maggie-May needs some socialization with other dogs, but she will do well. She barks at them at first & acts tough, but once they get next to her, she becomes a real mush. Maggie-May can clear a 4 ft. fence, so there are no hip issues with this gal! If you feel that you are the family for Maggie-May, please contact us, this girl won’t last, she’s young & pretty! 9/30/2003

Kelly: Hi, I’m Kelly. I am approximately 13 months old and weigh around 115 pounds and am a WILD CHILD. I have been spayed and am a smoothie. I love to run and play, am full of energy and mischief but I’m also very loving. My rescue Mom says I’m strong as an ox – ask her – I’ve pulled her around the yard. Due to my strenght, I would make a great cart dog and could very easily pull a wagon. I’m currently residing at Saint’s Heaven and am happy here with all my SAINT brothers and sisters but would love to have a permenant home where I can run and play especially if you have children. My original owners turned me in to my current mommy and daddy because they no longer wanted me. Please take me home with you? Kelly has found a home in Cartersville Ga. with a wonderful family in Cartersville, Ga. She will now have three loving boys to grow up with her (ages 3, 4 and 6). When I spoke to the family tonight, Kelly was on the floor by the table watching the boys eat. She did discover that they have stuffed animals in their room and kept returning to it to retrieve her a play toy. (She now has her own). Good Luck Kelly – your Saints Heaven Mom and Dad and all your brothers and sisters will miss you. Keep in touch and know that we will always love you. Hugs and Wet Kisses Mom and Dad, and the Gang.

3 puppies::: that we believe are St. Bernard/Sheppard mix. They are 13 weeks old, beautiful, and big! Two of them weighed 20 pounds when they were 10 weeks old. They don’t look much like St. Bernard except the female has a black teardrop shaped patch of hair on her nose with a white streak running down the middle. We saw the daddy of the puppies and he looked very much like a St. Bernard. The mother is definitely Sheppard. Anyway, these were stray dogs who dropped the puppies in my dog house. I can’t afford to keep them but can’t stand to take them to a shelter. We are feeding them temporarily, but they are beginning to eat a lot! I live in North Carolina. 9/28/2003

His owner could no longer keep him contained and decided for his safety that he would need a better home where he could not escape or hurt himself. Harley is used to kids and seems to get along with other dogs so far, but only those folks with high block wall or rod iron will be considered for Harley. 9/15/2003

Brutus: 7 Year Old Male Smooth Coat Brutus is a big old fellow who was turned in by his owners because he did not take kindly to the grandkids. He was great for me when I got him out to take his picture. He patiently sat in front of the kennel door waiting for me to open it, and then let me put his collar on. Brutus is slow and sweet and walks extremely well on a leash. He would do well with an older couple with no children in the home. Is that home yours? 9/15/2003

SPIKE: is a 2 year old smooth-coat male. He weighs in at 135 lbs. & could use to gain about another 30 lbs. Spike will be neutered, current on all shots, & heartworm tested prior to adoption. Spike seems to be a very friendly guy & he is in good shape. He seems to be good with other dogs, cats are unknown. I would think he would be fine around older children, just because of his size. Spike would love to have a family who would give him lots of attention. He is just a big baby. 9/12/2003

Rose: is a very lovely longhaired female that came from a shelter in San Antonio. The vet guesstimates that Rose is about 18 months old at the very max. Rose has been spayed, vaccinated, and tested negative for heartworms. She loves to go for car rides – she rode all the way from San Antonio to Houston without complaint! Rose had a beautiful, thick coat, but it was so badly matted, and she smelled so bad, that we had no choice but to shave her down. She was an absolute angel the whole time we were grooming her! Rose loves to play, and to run through the sprinkler when the yard’s being watered. 9/12/2003

Griz: “the bear” who came from a family that developed asthma and couldn’t keep their dogs. He is a wonderfully sweet senior boy with the activity level of a 4yr old, so says his foster family. Gets along with dogs, kids and loves to ride in the car. 9/12/2003

Bonez: is an 11 week old smooth coat male Saint Bernard. He is a typical puppy, very energetic, playful and would make a wonderful permanent addition to any family. Bonez was born May 29th after his parents were surrendered to rescue just two weeks prior. He has been neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is current on all shots. He would be better placed to a family with other animals since he was just 1 of a litter of 10 and has grown accustomed to having built-in playmates. 9/12/2003

Bonnie: Bonnie was found roaming the streets in Charlotte, NC. She is a beautiful girl, and a smaller saint. She was taken to a local vet by a very nice man who paid for all of her shots and medications needed. He then called SC Saint Bernard Rescue and we came and picked her up. Bonnie is now placed with a wonderful family in Fort Lawn, SC where she is receiving all of the love and attention she deserves! Way to go Bonnie! 9/9/2003

Annie: Annie was pulled from a NC shelter by a loving couple who didn’t want to see her put to sleep. Once they found out the suprising news that they were expecting a new baby, they knew that they could not give Annie the attention she deserves. Annie was placed with a new family in Chester, South Carolina, and is now enjoying the good life playing in her 5 acre backyard! Way to go Annie! 9/9/2003

Guss: Guss just escaped the gas chamber when he was pulled by South Carolina rescue from a Tennessee shelter by one of our fosters there. Guss is a great guy! He’s about 2 years old with beautiful markings. Guss was placed with a great family on the Indian Reservation in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He’s now enjoying long walks and quality time with his new family! 9/9/2003

Duffy: is believed to be 2 years old. He came into rescue as a pure bred saint bernard but due to his size I would suspect he is a mix. Duffy is an extremely lovable boy that enjoys hanging out and laying his head on your lap. He is in need of gaining weight and learning manners. Duffy walks well on a leash is a very playful boy who would enjoy having a human friend he could call all his own. He is house broken and crate trained. 9/9/2003

Molly: This sweet girl is just pitiful. She was given up to rescue because she was getting beat up by the other dogs in the household. She is very overweight and will require a prescription diet until she at her ideal weight. We want her to go to a home that will be serious about helping her lose the weight. She has a tough time getting around. She is 5 years old. She is great with other dogs, cats, and kids. 9/9/2003

Bailey: is a 3 year old neutered male that weighs 160 pounds. He is extremely loveable and wants to follow you everywhere you go. Unfortunately his owners did not have the time to spend with him that he deserved. Bailey gets along well with other dogs and cats. He absolutely loves to go for car rides and is a big air conditioner hog. He is quite the gentleman when walking on a leash although he is interested in his surroundings he would never think to pull you. Bailey would be best placed in a home with children 5 years old and up. Due to his size he is clumsy and tends to knock little ones over. 9/9/2003

Holly Berry: Holly Berry is a very sweet and lovely longhaired female who was abandoned ina remote area of Montgomery County. Miraculously, Holly tested negative for heartworms! Holly, whom my vet thinks is about 2½ years old, has now been spayed, brought current on her vaccinations, and put on heartworm preventative. Holly is still very much a puppy, and has personality plus! She is very loving, and needs to be adopted by a family that will let her be in the house with them when they’re at home. Holly loves to play fetch – although I can’t promise that she’ll bring the ball back to you! – and is an absolute fool for a tummy rub. 9/3/2003

Missy: is a beautiful, young longhaired female. She’s still very much a puppy – my vet thinks she’s just over a year old. Missy’s an absolute love and seems to get along great with everybody and everything. Missy was found wandering the streets. At first she was a little hesitant to come out of her kennel – she was just so grateful to be safe and well-fed – but now she’s all puppy play! She loves to flip over on her back and wave all four legs in the air! She has been spayed and brought current on her vaccinations. Missy is weak heartworm positive so she will need to be adopted by a family that will agree to give her Heartgard as her heartworm preventative every month. (My vet will not treat her for heartworms. Her case is so mild he feels it would be inhumane to put her through the treatment.) A six-month supply of Heartgard will be provided to the family that is lucky enough to adopt this terrific girl. 8/31/2003

Chloe: is an 11 week old smooth coat female Saint Bernard. She is a typical puppy, very energetic, playful and would make a wonderful permanent addition to any family. Chloe was born May 29th after her parents were surrendered to rescue just two weeks prior. Chloe has been spayed, dewormed, microchipped and is current on all shots. She would be better placed to a family with other animals since he was just 1 of a litter of 10 and has grown accustomed to having built-in playmates. 8/31/2003

Joe: is an 11 week old smooth coat male Saint Bernard. He is a typical puppy, very energetic, playful and would make a wonderful permanent addition to any family. Joe was born May 29th after his parents were surrendered to rescue just two weeks prior. He has been neutered, dewormed, microchipped and is current on all shots. He would be better placed to a family with other animals since he was just 1 of a litter of 10 and has grown accustomed to having built-in playmates. 8/31/2003

Sky: Sky is a 10 – 15 month old, ‘short’ (in height), rough coat, female Saint Bernard that came to us from a local shelter. Sky is currently being fostered and her foster dad says that she gets along well with other dogs, large and small, likes children and has no opinion regarding cats as well as being totally housebroken. We can only say good things about her. She has as you know the one Chow “eye” thus her new name. Other than that, she is all Saint and has perhaps the best disposition of any Saint we have ever met our own dogs. Sky gets along with all our pets from the Chihuahua to the cats to the Heelers to Tim and Faith. She is eating well and playing with all the dogs. She gets along with all adults (humans) and children she has been in contact with. Frankly, I can’t figure why she was not picked up from the pound unless her previous owner died or something, she is a great dog. Her only fault is that she wants to bark at the other dogs to get their attention when she wants to play. That could be any time of the day or night and so far it has been her only reason to taste vinegar, which of course works well. She seems to be healthy in every way. She shy’s away from a quick hand but seems to be getting over it as she gains confidence. Would you like to give Sky a forever home? 8/31/2003

Cassius: 18 month old handsome male. Long hair, mantle coat and nice markings. Cassius is playful, loves other dogs and long walks in the woods. He is house trained and well behaved. 8/31/2003

Hannah: a 6yr old spay female available from a private family in central NJ. She is indoor, housebroken, good with cats and other dogs, basic trained (but head-strong), walks on leash and good with older kids. Hannah is being given up by her owners since she is jealous of the 3 month old grandson that the owners care for during the day. Hannah is fine with the baby’s 2 yr sister and in fact had no problems with her as an infant. The owners chose not to separate out the baby/dog while both are in the house together. 8/27/2003

Will be a good watchdog, she is big and strong so no children under age 8 for her. Gabby is one of 6 dogs that came in from a cruelty case. She has spent 11 months awaiting her day of freedom! Her day finally came this past Wednesday. When she got to the foster’s home, Gabby just ran around doing laps in the yard, because she was soooo happy to be free!! Gabby seems to be good with other dogs, & would do well with older children. She does not realize her size, & may tend to knock younger children over. Gabby is very exuberant, but will listen when you give her a command. As of right now she knows “SIT” & “DOWN”. Gabby just loves to give kisses to everyone, & would be very happy to be someone’s lap dog! We are also working with housebreaking & crate training too. She will make a great companion for someone’s family! UPDATE; GABBY IS BEING FOSTERED WITH A DOG TRAINER. GABBY HAS JUST RECEIVED HER “CANINE GOOD CITIZEN” ( CGC ) TITLE. CONGRATULATIONS GABBY!!! GOOD GIRL!! 8/25/2003

Sam: is an absolutely adorable young, longhaired male who was found wandering on a country road in Oklahoma. Sam had rope burns around his neck, so he apparently had been tied up for a long period of time. A very kind person took pity on Sam and brought him back to the Dallas area with her. Sam has been neutered and tested negative for heartworms. The vet thinks that he is a little over a year old. According to his foster “grandmom”, Sam is housebroken, is good with other dogs and with children, and is very well socialized. He loves to go for car rides, but only if the car is air conditioned, please. (Sam’s no fool!!). 8/25/2003

Pearl: about a year old, long hair female. A pearl of a girl. Pearl is house trained and gentle. Her foster home has a 6 year who girl who walks her on leash. Ignores the cat and guinea pig and likes other dogs. 8/24/2003

Gorby: 7 year old rough coated male. Came to rescue from an owner who could no longer take care of him. Would like to go to a home, mostly house trained and well behaved in the house. Zeus: 3 year old male. Rough coat. House trained and has most basic obedience. Great with other dogs and kids. Really just a big love bug! He is good in the house but will counter surf if food is left on the counters. He is crate trained but will need work on his leash training. His foster home is currently training him with a head halti. Zeus came to rescue because he did not make a good outside only dog and would bark too much. He hardly barks at all anymore because now he is a house dog. 8/24/2003

Austin: 5 year old male. Rough coat. Knows most obedience but will need to be house trained since he was an outside only dog. Great with other dogs and kids. Really loves to play. She came to rescue from an owner who was getting divorced and nobody wanted to take the dog. She has never been socialized with anyone or anything outside the family so she needs major socialization with other dogs and people. She is doing very well with her new foster home and is learning to play with the other dogs. She is really good with kids but will knock over any kid under 4 years old. 8/24/2003

Sissy: 18 month old female. Rough coat. Needs all forms of training but doing well with crate and house training in her foster home. She is good with other dogs but will try to be the dominant female. Great with kids. Cats unknown. 8/24/2003

Big Bess: Saint Bernard papered Female Champion sired, and or Champion blood line. She is approx 15 months old. in excellent health, up on all shots and wormers, tick and flea treated. Very well cared for and treated with lots of love her whole life. She has never been abused by anyone. She loves every one and their dog . Male or female, big or small she will just want to love and play with them. She loves my children and is very gentle with me in the pen. She is leash trained. She has been housed some but lives out doors in our kennel. Cats are an unknown . But I would be surprise if she did not like them as well. She has a heart of Gold, full of love. She was purchased as a show and breeding dog. Her hips were x-rayed and found not good for breeding. So she has been Spayed and will be placed as a pet only to a nice loving home. She shows no outward signs of pain from her hips at all. She runs, jumps and plays well with no trouble. She could develop problems in her hips later of course, or she could live her whole live just as she is. She just should not and will reproduce her bad hips into any future pups. Again she has been spayed. She needs to find her forever home with lots of love. 8/25/2003

Daisy Duke: Sweet, petite 2 year old female St. Bernard has lived with children and enjoys their company. She would do best as an only dog or a home with small dogs. Daisy Duke is a nice Saint who just wants a loving home with a new family. 8/22/2003

He likes going for long walks, is leash trained and very obedient. After long walks he likes munching on ice cubes. He does not get distracted by other dogs, cats, squirrels or people, but if they come to close he will instinctively stand between you and them. However he does enjoy the company of children/people when sitting around the house or romping in the backyard. 8/17/2003

Glory: is an 18 month old female that was found as a stray. She had been hit by a car so her front leg needed to be removed. She was very thin and needed a lot of tender loving care. I’m pleased to say that Glory is doing wonderful now and gets around very well with three legs. She tends to be a bit dominate with other dogs so it would be best if she were the only pet. Glory enjoys being with children and love the company of her foster mom. A home with a few stairs or no stairs would best for Glory. 8/17/2003

Dixie: This very sweet girl with the gorgeous gold eyes is just 2 years old. She was given up to rescue from a home in Kansas that could no longer care for her and her puppy Mabel. He would love to have a wonderful family to shower him with lots of love! 8/13/2003

GATSBY: is a 9-month-old roughcoat male. Neutered, up-to-date on shots and heartworm-negative, he’s looking for a forever home. He is housetrained. He loves to chase balls and play with his people. Brandy 2: is a 7 month old female that is up to date on her vaccinations. She is a very submissive girl that is eager to please everyone. She does have a major problem and that is submissive peeing. She needs to be in a calm setting. Her new owners must be committed to training with positive reinforcements only. Aggressive training will only promote the submissive urination. Her new owners must also understand that this is behavior is part of Brandy’s personality and all the training in the world will not make it go away. Brandy 2 is also afraid to get into a car. She is with an old saint that has taken her under her wing and is teaching Brandy that car rides can be fun. She is doing much better now. Update 7/16/2003; Brandy is doing much better. She now loves to go for car rides and generally speaking her submissive peeing is under control. Ideally we would love it if we could adopt them out together, but we are willing to let them go separately. Not too many people in this world are willing to adopt 2 dogs at once. We know that’s a lot to ask of someone. 8/7/2003

Very funny to see Murphy play with other Saints since he is so big the other Saints shy from him because of his size but he seems to know and is gentle not pushy. 7/27/2003

Harrison: This massive boy is quite the lover! He came to us after he was lost, wandering in the woods after a tornado. The local shelter took him in and we came to the rescue! He was a mess and we soon had him de-ticked (32!), groomed, and brought back to good health. He is a sweetheart! He is good with other dogs and cats. We would not recommend him to a home with small children due to his size. He is a friend to all that meet him. 7/24/2003

Maggie: Young friendly female, long hair. Was adopted from a shelter and family is now unable to keep her. The family has children and other dogs. Looking for a loving family home. Maggie is house trained and mellow. 7/24/2003

Tank #2: 1 year old male. Smooth coat. Very sweet. Great with other dogs and kids. Came to rescue because he killed a neighbors pet bunny so a home with no small furry critters is a must. He is currently being house and crate trained. Tank is starting on basic obedience in his foster home but the new family will need to be willing to continue training with him. 7/23/2003

Brady: This funny boy is just 8 months old. He is just one happy camper! He loves everyone and everything! He came from a shelter after his owners decided they just didn’t have the time for him. Nancy: is a 19 week old rough coat spayed female. She is 50 pounds already. Her family turned her into rescue. They were moving and could not take her. She is all puppy. Ready to play. Being still is not in her vocabulary. We will consider adoption applications on her from families that have had Saints before. I can imagine she could do serious harm to a love seat if left to her own devices. 7/18/2003

Heidi: This sweet little girl came to us after nobody claimed her at the shelter. She appears to be about 2-3 years old. She needs a lot of TLC and a warm bed to sleep in. We are sure she has spent most of her life in a pen. She is shy but once she warms up to you, she is your best friend. She is great with other dogs, although she is afraid of them at first. She is good with kids, cats, and other people. If you are looking for a dog that you can help rescue by providing lots of love, food, and a nice warm bed or couch to sleep on, then please help Heidi. 7/17/2003

Tank is a heavy drooler & loves the water! This boy is always very happy to meet people. Tank is a very friendly, happy guy who needs a special family to love him! 7/16/2003

Tank #1: 18 month old male. Rough coat. Mostly housetrained. Crate trained. Will need obedience training but works well for food. His former owners ran into some financial difficulties and turned Ozzie over to the Humane Society in Tyler when they felt they could no longer care for him properly. They told the Humane Society that Ozzie plays well with kids, likes riding in the car, is leash trained and is housebroken. Ozzie is an absolute love!! When I let him out of his kennel, it’s hard for me to get him to leave my side long enough for him to go run around and get some exercise. He just wants to stand by me and get loved on! Ozzie has now been neutered and brought up-to-date on his vaccinations. His heartworm test came back a very weak positive, so he will only be adopted out to a family that will agree to give him Heartgard as his monthly heartworm preventative. (My vet will not treat him for heartworms. Ozzie’s case is so mild, he feels that it would be inhumane to put Ozzie through the treatment.) Barnabas: is an approx 3 yo neutered, 111lb male who stills needs to gain some weight to be at his ideal. He is utd on all shots, including Bordetella. He is heartworm negative. Barnabas has a very outgoing personality and loves to be right in the mix of things. He gets along well with small children, being careful to not knock them over. He’ll also let my 5 yo dress him up in play clothes. Barnabas also gets along well with other dogs, but will chase cats if they run. We don’t know if this is out of play or not because we don’t let it get that far. When you hand feed him a treat he will grab, but he will not bite down. I think this is due to lack of treats in the past. We rescued him from a kill shelter that wouldn’t put him up for adoption due to his size. He was found wandering the streets. Barnabas doesn’t seem to desire the Alpha position in our group of dogs, but I’m not positive he won’t desire it in another setting. He is housebroken and has good house manners, but does like to dumpster dive in the trash can if there’s something good in there. He loves to come up to for loves and hugs. He’s not a big kisser, but will occasionally give you a slurp when he’s particularly happy. While Barnabas enjoys romping outside, he does prefer to spend most of his time at your feet. He will bark when playing, but is not a “barker” in general. 6/20/2003

BARKLEY: is a 3 year old rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 110 lbs. or so. Barkley is spayed, utd on all her shots, and started on her flea & heartworm preventative. She knows how to use the doggie door, so we assume that she is housebroken. Barkley gets along well with other dogs, she has not been exposed to cats. We prefer her to go to a home where she is not alone by herself much. She tends to bark some when she is left alone. She really loves to be close to her family , & is a BIG BABY as far as that goes . Barkley will make a great addition to someone’s family! 6/15/2003

MATTIE: is a 2 year old rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 120 lbs. Mattie is spayed, utd on all her shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. She is housebroken. She also plays & gets along well with small & large dogs. Mattie does not like to be crated. She would do fine with older children, only because she will knock over younger ones. She should not be placed in a home with cats, unless she is supervised. Mattie will make someone a great companion. 6/15/2003

LUCEE: is a 16 month old rough-coat female. She weighs in at 110 lbs. & is still growing! Lucee is spayed, current on all shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. Lucee is good with other dogs & children. She currently lives with 4 children under the age of 6, and absolutely adores them. Lucee rides well in a car, and also walks well on a leash. Lucee feels that all dogs, know matter how big they are, should be lap dogs! Lucy has been x-rayed, & is showing signs of hip dysplasia. Since it has been caught early, it can be maintained on medication with moderate exercise. Ideally , Lucee will need to go to a home where her activity can be monitored. A fairly quiet lifestyle would be ideal, with lots of leash walks. Don’t get me wrong, she will run & play with the best of them, if allowed too!! Lucee is also housebroken & is ALL personality. She will make a wonderful addition to someone’s family! 6/15/2003

Sparky: 1-2 Year Old Male Rough Coat What a BIG, beautiful boy he is. Sparky is a giant sweetheart and an absolute doll, but is going to need some basic obedience. He doesn’t seem to know his size. Molly: This sweetie is just 5 months old. She came to us after a vet student in Missouri rescued her from her owners. They brought her to the clinic after she suffered a broken elbow and wanted her euthanized. The vet student persuaded them to donate her to the school. They repaired her elbow successfully and she is now ready for adoption. She is a smoothcoat. She is great with other dogs and cats. She may walk with a limp with some arthritis changes in the future but we expect a FULL recovery. Good Golly, Miss Molly. Won’t you take her home?? A baby pool is a must for this girl this summer!! 6/4/2003

Buddy: is an absolutely adorable longhaired male, approximately 2 years old. Buddy has one of the most gentle souls that I have ever had the privilege of meeting in all my years in Rescue. He was abandoned in a very remote area that is used all too often for dumping dogs. The property owner had his shotgun loaded, and had “drawn a bead” on Buddy. Fortunately, at that moment his wife walked out to see what was going on. Buddy turned his head to look at her, and her heart absolutely melted. One look at Buddy’s face and you’ll understand why!! She took Buddy in and called Rescue. Buddy was in deplorable condition – covered with mange, he had virtually no hair, and was just skin and bones. Miraculously, Buddy was heartworm negative. He is neutered, has been treated for his mange, and has been brought current on his vaccinations. Buddy is a total fool for rummy rubs! And car rides – just try to leave him behind! He’ll sit for hours contentedly in my van even when it’s just parked in the driveway. Buddy will be a wonderful, loving addition to the family that adopts him. 6/2/2003

Shadow: is a 7 year old spay female that is up to date on all her vaccinations. Due to her former owners health problems they had no choice but to put their beloved saint into rescue. He is also housebroken & crate trained. Otis is really great with other dogs & children too. Otis does know a few commands like; “SIT”, “DOWN”, & “NO”. He walks very well on a leash, as if he knows how to heel. Otis is a very playful pup, & really enjoys lots of attention. Otis will have to go to a very busy home, because he has some separation anxiety, and is insecure with being left alone for long periods of time. He will make a great family addition! 5/29/2003

His stray days will be up on May 17th. Goliath is at the Washington County, Humane Society, located in Hagerstown, MD. Goliath will be neutered, utd on his shots, & heartworm tested prior to adoption. His adoption fee is $120. BABY: This little lady, approximately 3 years old, came to us from a kill shelter in South Carolina. She is housetrained, spayed, up to date on shots, and heartworm-negative. At 125 pounds she’s about 10 pounds overweight and would benefit from daily exercise. Baby has good leash manners and knows most commands. She’s wonderful with children. Though she plays nicely with other submissive dogs, our ideal family would have no other pets as Baby prefers all the attention for herself. She’s VERY affectionate and likes nothing better than leaning on her people. A fence isn’t necessary, but no cats please. 5/10/2003

Wyatt: Wyatt is another owner surrender who’s only fault was to grow into a full size Saint and got “too big”. He is 14 months old and a smooth coat. He has been neutered and is scheduled to have his shots tomorrow (1/18/02). He has very little training and is somewhat lacking in ” manners”, nothing that a little work wouldnt fix. He is housebroken and gets along well with other dogs and children. He has had limited exposure to cats and so far has not reacted at all but we are not 100% sure of his attitude towards them. He is a very ” high energy” dog who loves to runs and play incessently. He is not a dog for someone looking for a couch potato. He is in excellent health but is a little underweight but that is being addressed. 5/9/2003

FRED: Fred recently joined us after being sprung from a South Carolina kill shelter. He’s neutered, housebroken, up to date on shots and HW-negative. He weighs about 140#. CHEWBACCA 2: This handsome 2 year old boy was rescued from a kill shelter in North Carolina. He came to us with heartworm disease, bilateral ear infections and a punctured eardrum. Chewy has been abused and is a bit hand-shy. We’ve treated the heartworm infestation and the ear infections. He’s been neutered. And we’re working on rebuilding his confidence. Chewy knows some commands and walks well on a leash. He’d do best in a home without cats or other small animals, and with older kids only because of his size. The ideal family will be patient as Chewy recovers from his ordeal and learns to trust again. 5/5/2003

BJ: This handsome longhaired boy is 22 months old, neutered and housetrained. He’s healthy, up to date on shots and HW-negative. At 115, he’s at least 20 pounds underweight. BJ came to Rescue when his owner was killed in a car accident. He misses the companionship of his owner and would very much like to be part of a family again. BJ is a lovely dog who enjoys car rides and hugs. (Give him a piece of cheese and he’ll be your friend for life.) BJ has been around children as young as an infant. He’s friendly with most other dogs (unknown with cats). Although a fence is preferred, he would do well in a household without a fence as long as his humans will walk him. 5/5/2003

Ryker: is a very handsome shorthaired male. Ryker was turned in to a high-kill shelter by his owners, who said that they were moving and were unable to take him with them. Ryker is an absolute love! Approximately 3 years old, he is so grateful for any attention that he receives. Ryker’s favorite things are to rubbed on, to be brushed, and to go for car rides. Ryker has now been neutered and brought current on his vaccinations. Ryker’s heartworm test came back a very weak positive, so he will only be adopted out to a family that will agree to give him Heartgard as his monthly heartworm preventative. (My vet will not treat him for heartworms. Ryker’s case is so mild, he feels that it would be inhumane to put Ryker through the treatment.) A six-month supply of Heartgard will be given to the family that is lucky enough to adopt this terrific fellow! 5/3/2003

Sweetie: is an absolutely beautiful, longhaired female. The vet believes that she is about two years old. Someone had abandoned Sweetie in the parking lot of a local animal shelter – they didn’t even have the decency to take her inside. When I rescued Sweetie, she was covered with mange. She had lost most of her hair and was scratching like crazy. Just look at her gorgeous coat now!! Sweetie has now been spayed, and has been given all her shots. Sweetie is an absolute love! She gets along great with children, and with other large dogs. Sweetie needs to be adopted by a family that will let her be in the house when they are at home -she loves people, and she won’t be happy if she’s just left outside by herself all the time. Sweetie will be a wonderful, loving addition to the lucky family that adopts her. 5/3/2003

Roxy: is a 9 mo old spayed female smooth coat. She is all puppy! Her family turned her into rescue for being inadvertently rough with their child i.e. knocking down a toddler. I’m taking her to the Rescata to let her run a bit and go to “Hans’ school”. 5/2/2003

Abby: 1 1/2 Year Old Female Rough Coat is a big thick girl who is going to need obedience training. She is extremely strong and can easily pull you on the leash. She loves to give kisses and is very friendly and outgoing with people. Abby will need a dedicated family that has no other dogs since she doesn’t get along with them well. 5/2/2003

Zayla: 1-2 Year Old Female Rough Coat Mix is a sweet, sweet girl who looks to be a Saint/Golden mix. She has the Saint temperament down pat. She was turned in to a local shelter with her friend Disco because the family said they no longer had time for them. She rides well in the car and so far appears to get along great with other dogs and kids. Zayla is approximately 104 lbs, spayed and current on all shots. She will make someone a wonderful pet is that you? 5/2/2003

Evie: 18 Month Old Female Rough Coat is our 18 month old rough coat that came from the East Valley shelter. She is very cute & she’s not full grown yet. The sweetheart is not too big…but very much a saint. Evie is scared to death in the shelter. They said she is animal aggressive. She flipped over on her belly to get some lovin’ when they brought her into the adoption area. I think she’s just a scared puppy. We’ll provide further information as soon as we get to spend some quality time with her and see how she interacts with children and another animals. Update; Evie is a LOVE! She is 18 months old & is still growing. She weighs 91 lbs right now & has beautiful coloring. We picked her up from the vet today, she had just been spayed the evening prior & was still a little groggy & sore…she curled up in the backseat & snored the whole way to the kennel! Too cute. She gave me sweet kisses& has brown puppy-dog eyes that will absolutely melt your heart. Evie is very eager to please. She doesn’t seem to do well with other animals, so Evie should go to a one-dog home. 5/2/2003

Pasha: 4 Year Old Male Rough Coat is a 4 year old male rough coat (longhair) Pasha was in a loving family that was unable to keep him because they were moving into a smaller home, actually a town home. Pasha needs a larger home with a yard and an active family. He is a very big boy, and very strong. He knows basic obedience and loves belly rubs! He is house trained and great in the house. Pasha is not for the first time big dog owner, he is a very large saint that requires somebody that understands and respects their sheer size and power. He loves everybody and is good with kids. He does not seem to like other dogs, so we think he would do best as an only dog, but we might consider another dog if it is a good match with him and female. 5/2/2003

Duke: 5 Year Old Male Rough Coat just came to us – his owners were moving and could not take him with them. Duke is a healthy 5 year old male. He is a little overweight and our volunteers are such suckers that he continues to somehow obtain cheeseburgers from them. Duke knows some basic commands and is very easy to walk on a leash. His hair has beautiful dark brown coloring that would definitely match the furniture in your house. He seems to be fine with children and adults. We don’t know how he is with other dogs or cats yet, but so far he has shown no signs of aggression towards anything. Don’t make Duke stay in our kennel. Fill out an application, make an appointment, and take this sweet guy home. 5/2/2003

Bailey: 2-3 Year Old Female Rough Coat is a sweet & mellow girl. She was found in the Lancaster/Palmdale area with her friend, Buddy, and both were turned in to the local pound. Since she was already spayed and had a microchip, the shelter contacted her owner, who no longer wanted the dogs for reasons unknown, so they contacted us. Bailey was well-fed and knows basic obedience commands, although it’s going to take more than one bath to get her looking as pretty as she needs to be. Bailey apparently likes to go places in the car. As soon as one of our volunteers opened her SUV door, she didn’t hesitate to jump inside and make herself comfortable. She walks well on the leash and doesn’t pull. After some grooming, all Bailey will need is a loving family that will give her the attention she desires. May need to be only dog. 5/2/2003

She is good with children and other dogs, however her size must be taken into consideration. Previous Saint experience and a fenced yard would be preferred. 4/29/2003

BRANDY: beautiful 3 year old female St. Bernard. Brandy is a finished champion whose owners moved and couldn’t take her with them. Brandy is very loving, good with children and other dogs. She has not had a great deal of training and does not walk well on a leash. She also has ” an earth moving addiction” and can dig very large holes at times. Lollipop is a rather timid dog around strangers but she will slowly warm up to new people. Once you have gained her confidence she is very affectionate and loving. She is great with children. Lollipop was very well cared for by her former owner and is in great shape. She would make a wonderful addition to any family. 4/25/2003

Zeus: 5 year old male. Smooth coat. Very sweet and mellow. Great in the house and not destructive. Does a perfect rug imitation. Great with kids but prefers to ignore the other dogs. Rides very well in the car. 4/22/2003

Cassie: Cassie is a 2-year-old roughcoat. Cassie loves children, but would be best suited for children over 8. This is because she needs obedience training and can be a handful at times. When left alone, Cassie has been crated. In time, she should be able to be left alone without being crated. At this time, Cassie will do better as any only dog so that she can learn manners and get the love and attention she needs and deserves. She is NOT fond of cats. 4/21/2003

Bubba: is a very handsome, longhaired male. Bubba has been neutered, is heartworm negative, and is current on his shots. The vet believes that he is between 18 and 24 months old. ANGEL: is a 2 1/2 year old rough-coat female. She weighs in at 120 lbs. Angel is spayed, utd on all her shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. She is also crate trained. Angel gets along with most dogs, but cannot be placed in a home with small dogs or cats. She is a very affectionate dog, & really enjoys lots of attention. Angel also walks very well on the leash. She’s not a real big fan of smaller dogs, they tend to annoy her! Sammy is a very laid back girl. She enjoys a nice calm family setting, & is very much a homebody. Sammy is not much on crowds, but would rather spend her time just lying around with her family close by. She would do best in a family with older children. George does know a few commands like; “SIT”, “COME”, “GIVE PAW” & the word “NO”, with a forceful command. He is great with people , loves to go for rides, & really enjoys a good game of frisbee. George is a very nice looking guy, & will make a great family companion. 3/19/2003

She is however a special needs rescue. Her right knee and left hip are damaged., I suspect she was fed a low quality food as a pup. She will need some TLC. I have a gal here that I adopted.. older sweet gal. She has similar joint abnormalities and does quite well at 8 years old. I don’t believe Madeline is a surgical candidate. She would need a product called Synovi MSM (or similar glucosamine/MSM) 3/9/2003

Jake: is a very handsome shorthaired male. The vet thinks he’s 2 years old at the very max. He’s been neutered, is current on his vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. He’s a tall dog, and is just as sweet as he can be! Jake is going to need to be adopted by a special family because he may – or may not – be epileptic. His owner turned him in to the animal shelter because he had supposedly had a seizure. The animal shelter said that he had two seizures while they had him, but they might very well have been caused by stress. I had a blood profile done on him, and all the results were just fine. I haven’t seen any evidence that he’s had any seizures since he’s been with me. Jake is just going to need to be watched after he’s adopted. If, after he settles in to this new home, his family sees that he’s having seizures, they’ll need to see if their vet wants to put Jake on an anti-seizure medication. I am truly thrilled to report that he has been adopted by a wonderful family in San Antonio. Jake now has a Beagle/Basset Hound mix named Norman for a brother. Norman has seizures from time to time. I feel very confident that Jake’s new family will give him the love and care that he needs! 3/7/2003

She was spayed on 10-18 and brought up todate on all shots. She had only had her first puppy shot when she came in on the 17th. She is housebroken. Until she came to us she only knew the world of being on a two foot chain outside. She is a sweetheart that needs lots of loving and attention. Please open your heart and home for this girl. She will need a home without steep stairs and the fewer stairs the better. 3/4/2003

GRACEY: Gracey is a very large Saint. When she came to us she had sarcoptic mange. We have treated her for this. She is very sweet loves attention, doesn’t mind taking a bath. She is in need of gaining a few more pounds. Was very underweight when she arrived here. She was rescued with one day left, from an animal shelter here in Ky.. A wonderful lady paid to have her gotten out and brought her to us. This lady just happened into the Shelter on a visit and seen her. So this is how I came by the name Gracey. By the Grace of God she was found. She needs someone with no small children and plenty of fenced (6ft.) yard for her to run. She stands over 5 1/2 feet on her hind legs. Would prefer her to be an only dog and inside. She has had a rough life up till now and would love to have her to be showered with love the rest of her life. She is about 1 1/2 yrs. old. Susie is currently with a foster, making herself quite at home with 4 Pugs and a 12 year old male Saint. 3/1/2003

Hamish: is a large smooth male. He seems to get along with other dogs very well. He is 2 years old and likes to walk on a leash. Because of his size and playfulness, he should not be in a home with small children. 2/27/2003

JULIUS: is a 6 year old smooth-coat male. He weighs in at around 140 lbs. Julius is neutered, utd on his shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. He is also housebroken. Julius needs a home where the people are willing to work with him, & give him lots of hugs, and attention. He is very insecure of himself & needs lots of reassurance. He walks well on the lead, & enjoys the company of larger dogs. He should not be placed in a home with children or small dogs ( he is scared of them ). Julius needs someone who can spend a lot of time with him working on his fear issues & socialization. He is a big snuggle bug. 2/27/2003

Beauregard: This handsome man is just 2 years old. He is very sweet! His owner gave him up because the landlord wouldn’t allow him to live with his family. He came from a home with 2 other canine friends and 4 children. We are unsure of his feline friendly status. He is a lover! 2/27/2003

Chandler: was dumped at a shelter in Alabama. He is approximately 12 weeks old. He weigh 35-40 pounds now. He will be neutered prior to adoption. We will consider application on this pup only if the potential adopter has had a Saint before and lives in Georgia or a bordering state. We will not ship this pup. The adopter will be required to travel and pick him up. 2/27/2003

Harvey: Harvey is a 120lb male who is about 2 years old. He is very gentle with both people and other dogs. His behavior towards cats or other animals is unknown. He has no known ” bad habits”, walks well on a leash and is just altogether a very nice dog. He is current with his shots and has been neutered. He was rescued from a kill shelter along with Charlotte but its not known if they were a pair or not. He has no health problems and is ready to go to a new home now. 2/27/2003

Charlotte: Charlotte is about 3 and she weighs 91lbs on 1/5/02. She is however quite thin and probably needs to gain about 20lbs to reach her correct weight. She is a very timid dog and is “hand shy”, any sudden hand movement will cause her to cower. This would indicate that she has suffered abuse at some stage. Once she has been shown some affection she becomes very friendly but remains hesitant. We are working with her to improve her confidence. She gets along well with other dogs and all people. Cats are an unknown. She has no known health issues and is current on shots. She is scheduled to be spayed. She was rescued with Harvey but its not known if they had the same previous owner. 2/27/2003

Bogart: If you are looking for a classic Saint then Bogart is the guy for you. He is a very big boy the picture does not give a true indication of his size. He has no known health issues, is house trained and current on shots. He is just 2 years old and was AKC registered. His foster mom says that he is just a big couch potato who just loves to lie around and sleep all day. He gets on well with all other dogs and just ignores cats. He has not had a lot of training and needs work with walking on a leash. While he is friendly with everyone, he does seem to be a ladies man as he shows a preference for women over men. His previous owner dumped Bogart as they said he got too big. He really wants to go live with a loving family who will be his forever parents. 2/27/2003

Buddy: 2-3 Year Old Male Rough Coat was found crossing a major street here in Orange County. He was literally stopping traffic. A kind couple stopped and got Buddy into their car… she just so happened to be an obedience trainer and they decided that the next best thing for Buddy would be a trip to the vet. There he was treated for eye and ear infections, and his toenail was torn off at the quick. We think this might be due to the fact that he was left alone on the 4rth of July and was soooo frightened by the fireworks that he ripped his paw trying to escape. Buddy is a huge, sweet boy that kept pawing me as I was trying to take his picture. From what we can tell so far he seems to get along with other dogs. He is absolutely adorable and has one blue eye. Anyone that adopts Buddy will get a free 7 week obedience training course…complimentary from friends of the people that found Buddy. What a beautiful dog! 2/27/2003

Texas Daisy: 2 Year Old Female Rough Coat Daisy is almost 2 years old. Her family got Daisy when she was 8 weeks old. She is a very friendly dog, and she gets along with every animal she comes in contact with. She has been raised with cats, another dog and a rooster – they pal around together. Her owner says that he has never seen her show aggression toward adults, children (big and small), dogs, cats or food. Daisy knows basic commands sit, stay, etc.. She is full of lots of love and energy. Daisy needs a home with room to play and exercise. Her owner is moving from Texas to California, from 2 acres to a 1 bedroom apartment, and can no longer take care of her. Daisy has been spayed and is up to date on all her shots. She will be with us shortly, but we wanted to let you know about her so that hopefully she will not have to spend time in our kennel and be able to go straight to another loving home when she arrives here. Who wants to give Daisy a big California welcome? PS. We are calling her Texas Daisy to avoid confusion since we have another Daisy in our kennel at the moment. 2/25/2003

Lila: 1 Year Old Female Rough Coat Lila is a sweet, young girl. We rescued her from a shelter on her last day. She is full of puppy energy and could do with some obedience training. Lila is on the smaller side but she has the potential to grow into a beautiful Saint Bernard. She seems to be okay with kids and will make some family a wonderful forever pet…is that you? 2/25/2003

Baby: 2 Year Old Female Rough Coat Baby is a sweet girl & wants to please. She already sort of knows how to sit & lay down on command. She isn’t huge but she sure is chubby and could stand to lose a few pounds. Baby is easy to handle, so she should be easy to place with just about any family. She is spayed & is current on her rabies only, so she will get the rest of her shots when she sees our rescue vet for her wellness visit. She seems to be in good health, other than a couple of small scabs on her skin & the fact that she needs go on a diet! Baby gets along well with dogs of all sizes & has never met a cat. She has been an outdoor dog & needs to be housebroken. It would be great if she could wind up being an indoor dog who is part of a family…she has spent her life so far alone in the front yard of a house she wasn’t allowed to enter…her “yard” was very small, had cars parked on it & was…you guessed it…made entirely of concrete. It’s time for a positive change for this sweet thing. 2/25/2003

Evie: 8 Month Old Female Rough Coat Evie is our 8 month old rough coat that came from the East Valley shelter. She is very cute & she’s not full grown yet. The sweetheart is not too big…but very much a saint. Evie is scared to death in the shelter. They said she is animal aggressive, but I didn’t see ANY signs of it when they took her out of the kennel & walked her past all the other barking dogs. She flipped over on her belly to get some lovin’ when they brought her into the adoption area. I think she’s just a scared puppy. We’ll provide further information as soon as we get to spend some quality time with her and see how she interacts with children and another animals. Update; Evie is a LOVE! She is 8 months old & is still growing. She weighs 91 lbs right now& has beautiful coloring. We picked her up from the vet today, she had just been spayed the evening prior & was still a little groggy & sore…she curled up in the backseat & snored the whole way to the kennel! Too cute. She gave me sweet kisses & has brown puppy-dog eyes that will absolutely melt your heart. 2/25/2003

Dana: 1 1/2 Year Old Female Smooth Coat What a sweet, young girl. Dana was being turned in to a shelter by the owner when a kind man overheard what was happening and decided to contact us. The owner wanted her put to sleep because his wife did not want her anymore – can you believe that???? Our friend stepped in and said “Don’t put her to sleep!” and he bought her 4 days time until he could contact us to save her. We did and she is the sweetest thing. Dana sits, shakes and hugs and is very friendly. She is small for a Saint but she has the Saintly temperment down pat. She loves to play and needs a forever home that will spoil her…is that you? 2/25/2003

Abbie: 8 Month Old Female Rough Coat Abby is a big, beautiful girl who is already 100 lbs and still has a lot of growing to do. She was turned into us by her family who is going through a divorce and can no longer take care of her and give her the time and attention she needs as a puppy. Part of her family consisted of an American Bulldog and two children – a 3 year old and a 1 year old, so she is used to other dogs as well as young kids. She was well taken care of and is up to date on all shots, has recently been spayed, and has just had a wellness exam by her vet before coming to us. Although she is going to need obedience training, she has a very sweet disposition. Since early on in her childhood, she has been very shy and is fearful of things she doesn’t know, so she will need a lot of socialization. Although she has been staying outdoors for most of the day, she is about 90% house-trained, but being a puppy implies that she still likes to chew things. She should grow out of that stage shortly, and of course, training will speed things up. As adorable as she is, Abbie won’t be with us long at all, so if you would like to meet Abbie. 2/25/2003

Daisy: 4 Year Old Female Smooth Coat Daisy is a sweet & mellow girl. She is looking for her third& FINAL home. She was rescued from a backyard breeder by her previous owner three years ago. When her previous owner got her, she was bald & nearly starved to death. She was probably used for breeding & then discarded. Luckily Daisy made a full recovery from her ordeal. She has come to us because her previous owner has taken a new job, requiring her to be gone long hours& she wants Daisy to be able to find a family who will be able to give her more “quality time” than she is able to give. Daisy is spayed and will be up to date on her shots this week. We don’t know how she is with other animals just yet, but will post an update on that soon. She is a sweet girl with lots of love to give. Are you her forever home??? 2/25/2003

Masha: 6 Year Old Female Rough Coat Masha and Tasha were turned in by their owner because he could no longer take care of them. They have been outside most of their life and we are unsure if they are potty trained. In the vet’s office both girls played with the kids and put their paw out as if to say “Won’t you touch me?” They looked up at me while as I scratched under their neck and behaved very well in the vet’s waiting area. They are sisters who have never been separated but we will place them separately if need be. They are current on all shots and will be spayed this week. Do you have room for this sweet pair? 2/25/2003

Willy would do best in a home with no small children. We do not know how he is with other dogs or cats yet. 2/25/2003

JUPITER: Jupiter is a rough-coat male, who currently weighs in at 140 lbs. Jupiter is neutered, up-to-date on shots, is heartworm-negative and is on heartworm preventative. Jupiter was found as a stray near Washington, DC and was severely underweight and showing the effects of a very bad patch in his life. Jupiter is about 3 years old, is now fully house-broken and has very good house manners in general. In his foster home, Jupiter is thrilled to be encouraged to lounge on an old loveseat with rear cushions removed. He does long flights of steps with ease. Jupiter walks reasonably well on a leash, is friendly to other dogs, cats, and very affectionate with humans. Jupiter even will join in a pack game of ball or stick- retrieving. Jupiter is very fond of riding in vehicles and must be strongly dissuaded from entering any vehicle he sees. Jupiter has apparently had some sort of obedience training in the past, but a refresher course could be very helpful in improving understanding between Jupiter and his new family. He is quite bright and eager to please. Jupiter is HUUUGE and very strong, but this gentle giant will be a wonderful member of the right family. 2/23/2003

Smokey just loves everyone he meets. He also loves to play with his doggie toys!. Smokey rides well in a vehicle. Smokey also likes to walk around with his leash in his mouth. He walks well on a leash, but there is room for improvement! Smokey favors one of his hind legs, so rescue had him x-rayed. Smokey does not have much of a hip socket , so he will have to be on medication indefinitely. The vet has told us to put him on 1500 mg of Glucosamine & Condroitin per day. He will also have to be on 800 mg. of vitamin E & daily exercise to tone up the muscles on that leg. The vet said that Smokey is in NO pain, & should do well indefinitely on these medications & exercise, as long as he is not allowed to get over-weight. Smokey runs & plays with the best of them! He needs to learn some manners when walking on a leash and meeting strange dogs and people. He is friendly, but needs to be brought under control. He has made great progress during his time in an adoptive home. This guy is a big baby/brat. He needs someone that has time to help him get a grip and realize he’s home to stay. He is a big guy and can sense any hesitation in a persons voice or manner. He can bluff, buffalo and grumble those not accustomed to him into letting him get away with all the above. We’ve not had any problems with him since he’s been back. He does very well on a strict routine as do all of our rescues. They want to know what we expect from them and vice versa. Despite his early mistreatment, Tucker appears well-adjusted and willing to please. He has been in foster care for several months where he has learned to trust again. He has been with other dogs and with cats. Tucker’s ideal placement would be a home with children and a stay-at-home parent who will give him the attention and love he deserves. 1/20/2003

Hildie: Hi, my name is Hildie and I am a 4-year-old beautiful Saint! I love children and get along well with male dogs. I have been through obedience training, love car rides, walk well on a leash, and am well mannered. I love to play with my big brother Bernie. Bernie and I have been together for a long time and are hopeful that we can stay together. We have been well cared for and loved. If we can’t stay together, I will need a doggie companion. Do you have a special place for me and possibly my awesome big brother Bernie? 1/20/2003

Sabrina: is a 2 year old rough coat spayed female. Her origin is as an Alabama rescue puppy. Her adoptive family turned her into rescue because she got out of the fence often. She is a very sweet loving dog… Still very happy puppy stage. We are working on getting her more confident in different situations. We suspect she spent much of her time in the back yard with another dog but little contact from her owners. She is very small girl who needs to gain some weight. Please consider opening your heart and home to this wonderful girl. 1/17/2003

Bambi: and Jenna: These adorable little girls were surrendered to rescue as their owners could not find homes for them and could not afford to keep them. Their father is Buddy who is also listed here. They are 8 weeks old as of 12/27/02. They have had their 1st shots and have been wormed. There are no obvious health problems and they appear to be normal, healthy, playful little puppies. 1/14/2003

BUDDY: is 22 month old smooth-coat male. He weighs in at 115 lbs. & is still growing! Buddy is neutered, utd on all his shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. He is being housetrained while he is in rescue, & knows how to use the doggie door. Buddy is good with most dogs, but really prefers females & puppies. He is also good with children, we are unsure about cats. Buddy rides well in the car, & walks well on a lead ( he may pull a little, but once corrected, he does fine ). We recommend that Buddy be taken to an obedience class, just because he does not know any commands & he is a large dog. Buddy absolutely loves to play with other dogs!! He also loves people & is a very personable dog. Buddy is just a BIG goofy guy. He will make a great family companion! 1/14/2003

Rhine: This handsome man is just 2 years old! His owners had to give him up to rescue due to a divorce. He gets along great with other dogs and children. He is current on his vaccines, neutered, heartworm and parasite free. He is a couch potato and would love a friend to cuddle up next to. 1/14/2003

Maggie: Maggie is a 2 year old sweetie. She is believed to have come from an abusive background. She is great with people and children. She gets along great with other dogs and cats. She can be skittish and shy so she needs a home that is willing to help Maggie settle in. She is current on all of her vaccines, spayed, heartworm, and parasite free. Maggie needs a home with a fenced in yard. For more info on how you can adopt Maggie. /14/2003

Baby pot belly pig: about 25 lbs. Wandered into our foster home. We are feeding the pig and looking for a loving home. 12/16/2002

Buddy: Buddy was surrendered to rescue by his owners who were no longer able to bare the financial cost of giving him the best care possible. He has been very well looked after and is in top condition. According to his owners he gets along great with everybody and everything. He does not like to be left alone and does suffer from separation anxiety. He is house broken and leash trained, rides well in the car and responds well to commands. He has been an indoor dog and believes his sleeping place is beside your bed. He is current on all shots, has been wormed and has no known health problems. Buddy is perfect for someone looking for a low maintance ” ready to go dog” He is also the proud father of the 3 female puppies also listed on this page but that will not happen again as he has been neutered. 1/11/2003

Gracie: is a young (1-3yrs) female St. Bernard who was abandoned by her owners. She weighs 77lbs and needs to gain about 20 according to her doctor. She is sweet, well behaved and house broken. She is good with kids but needs a home where there are no other pets. 1/6/2003

TRUMAN: Sweet, smart 10 month old male St. Bernard. Truman is great with children and other dogs, he just needs to find a home with no birds! He is housebroken, neutered, microchipped and has all his shots. $150 Adoption Fee. 1/6/2003

Rosie: is a very sweet, young longhaired female. She was rescued from a shelter where she had been kept in deplorable conditions. Rosie had been confined in a run with five other dogs, one of which was a wolf-hybrid. She wouldn’t fight for food and water, so she was dehydrated and just skin and bones when I got her. Rosie has now been spayed and vaccinated, and is putting on some much-needed weight. She is weak heartworm positive so she will need to be adopted by a family that will agree to give her Heartgard as her heartworm preventative every month. (My vet will not treat her for heartworms. Her case is so mild he feels it would be inhumane to put her through the treatment.) A six-month supply of Heartgard will be given to the family that is lucky enough to adopt this terrific girl. Rosie is an absolute sweetie!! 1/6/2003

Buca: is a 3 year old male. He is very tall and loves to play with other dogs. He is not good with cats so it would be best to place him in a home that doesn’t have any cats in it. His favorite thing to do is meet and greet people. His former owners spoiled him so he loves all the creature comforts that you can give him, like letting him sleep on the couch. He tends to bark and pull on the leash when he sees other dogs and people. Buca is completely house trained and is well behaved in his foster Mom’s home. 1/6/2003

Barney: 2 year old rough coated male. Very nice and mellow. Good with other dogs and kids. Likes to cuddle and get as much attention as possible. Highly food motivated so will be easy to obedience train. 1/3/2003

Petey: 18 month old smooth coat male. Very good with people and kids. Needs to be the dominant male dog in the house. Needs additional obedience training. Loves to play with the other dogs. His favorite games are keep the stick away and chase me! He is currently being house trained and crate trained. Will need a home that will crate him while he is unsupervised since he enjoys chewing toys – even if they are not really toys. He also needs a home that will keep him in the house since he can climb fences. 1/3/2003
