Bear: I just celebrated my 2nd birthday! Unfortunately, my owners can no longer keep me due to an illness in the family and I must find a new home. I am good with other dogs and children. I am a beautiful girl, almost all white in color, except my face and some patches of brown. I am a real sweetheart! 12/31/2006

Jethro: I used to be a house dog then one day my dad took me to his work and left me there. He said it was my new home. I lived outside with a bunch of scary semi trucks and loud noises. I had nowhere to hide so I ran away. Everytime I ended up in the shelter, my dad brought me back to work and never to my warm couch in my old house. This time when I ran away, he never came to pick me up. Now I am sleeping in a warm house again but still long for a forever home. I’m a sweet 6 year old that loves belly rubs, other dogs, older children, and cats. Could you give me a warm spot to retire? 12/31/2006

Albert: I am a really sweet boy who came to rescue after my owners had to move and could not take me with. My foster mom calls me “Fat Albert” since my previous owners fed me a little too much! Although I am a tall, large Saint, I am a bit overweight and I am on a special diet. My new owner would have to be dedicated to my continued weight loss. I am three years old and just a lover! I love other dogs, children, and I am good with cats. I love to play and go for walks. I love to cuddle so be prepared to be loved! 12/31/2006

Princess: My owners gave me up to an Illinois shelter when they could no longer care for me properly. I had a severe skin infection and ear infection and was very under weight. I am gaining weight everyday and my skin is healing. I am good with other dogs, cats, and children. I am a very sweet, petite, 2 year old that would really like a forever home where I can live a healthier, happier life! 12/31/2006

Mary: is a 20 month old full masked rough coat female. She has a dark mantle with mahogany highlights. She has a sweet and gentle disposition. She gets along well with kids, cats and dogs.. She is housetrained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. Mary loves to be with her family and is well mannered in the house. She loves to go on walks and car rides. She is spayed, up to date on shots and on heartworm and flea preventative. 12/31/2006

CLARENCE: Meet CLARENCE. He’s a wonderful boy for whom the term “gentle giant” was invented. A laid-back, docile, friendly, affectionate fellow, three-year-old Clarence loves nothing more than to be with his people. He’s a roughcoat (longhair) who is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm-negative and housetrained. He came to Saint Rescue in pretty awful condition — thin, dirty, matted, with a bad case of kennel cough and a horrible infection in both ears. Noting his thickened ear flaps and narrowed ear canals it’s apparent that he has suffered chronic ear infections through much of his young life. But he has responded well to his current treatment regimen and if he could “speak human” he would tell you that already his ears are feeling better. He has gained some weight and needs another 10-15 pounds. Clarence has had some obedience training. He’s great on a leash and knows several commands. He does well with most female dogs and doesn’t seem to mind cats. He would like a family with children. A fenced yard is preferred though is not essential. We would like him to have a family with a stay-at-home mom (or dad) as he doesn’t like to be alone much. Is he the Saint of your dreams? 12/31/2006

Jasmine: she is a 2 1/2 year old very sweet full of energy little rough coated female. She is great with kids and adults. She could use more obedience but she would really like to be the only 4 legged friend in the house. She love to play and run in the back yard and loves to go for rides. She is a very dominate female so she can not be around other dogs or small animals. 12/28/2006

Sonya: is about 10 months old and is very sweet. She is a plush coat and is going to be sorta small. She is tricolor but mostly brown. She does have the black mask. She needs to go to a home where she can be with people and not put out side she will bark to get attention. She loves to go for car rides and is great with other dogs. She is very loving and good with kids. 12/28/2006

Sammy: is a very sweet very large boy that needs to have a family that is aware of saint and their size. He is currently 176# and needs to put on a little more weight. He is good with other dogs and loves people. Needs to be with older kids because he does not realize how big he is. He is a 3 year old male rough coat the has a full mask and is tri color (black tan and white). 12/28/2006

Droopy: is a sweet large boy that loves attention. He is very skinny now and needs to put on weight. He is a 3 year old Smooth coated male that has a black mask and is brown and white. He seem to get along with other dogs, but I just got him so I am not real sure yet. He is very friendly to people and was raised with chickens lamas and elpackas as well with kids dogs and cats. He does walk well on a leash. 12/28/2006

Val: is a small female tri color 3 year old smooth coat that needs to put on weight. She is very sweet and was raised with chickens, dogs, cats, llamas, elpackas, kids and people. She is good on a leash. 12/28/2006

Gus: is a 1 1/2 year old rough coated male tri color with a full mask. He is very sweet and loves people. He seems to be okay with other dogs and kids. He is okay on a leash. 12/28/2006

Pia: 6 month old smooth coated female. Pia came to rescue when she was seized by animal control from the previous owners for neglect. She is a typical puppy. She is currently being house and crate trained and has started with basic obedience. She will do best in a home with another dog to play with her. 12/26/2006

Cesar: He’s a 11 mo old neutered, longhaired male. He’s a very friendly boy who does not know his own size. He is a very large dog and only 11 mo. old. He’s house broken and is good with other dogs. He has alot of energy and definitely needs a playmate. He needs some socialization and lots of TLC. Would love to be your new couch potato. 12/23/2006

BANDIT: is a 9 month old neutered longhaired male. He is very sweet and calm for a puppy of his age group. He is housebroken and gets along with other dogs, as well as older children. His gentle disposition and willingness to learn makes him a great addition to a new family. Bandit is DEAF from birth…he is very confident, willing to learn and does not startle easily. He will need to go home with at least another dog who can show him the ropes. He loves people and knows some hand signals. As he is a puppy, he will need some training and loves to play “chase the kitty” ..so a home without cats would be preferable. He is in a foster home with cats and loves them when they are still, but wants to chase when they run…to a cat this can be pretty scary! Bandit will make a wonderful addition in his new and understanding family…he is a special boy who does not know that he is different! 12/23/2006

Lisa: is a 2yo smooth coat spayed female. She is an attention hog and loves to run and play. 12/21/2006

LOLA 3: Allow us to introduce LOLA 3. Just 13 months old and quite the cutie, Lola is a roughcoat (longhaired) female who would like her own family. She’s vaccinated, HW-negative and housetrained. She plays well with most other dogs and we’re told that she’s okay with cats. Lola’s a playful girl who has been with kids as young as toddler age. She is spayed and has had corrective eye surgery. Additionally, we had her stomach tacked so she cannot develop gastric dilatation/volvulus (commonly called bloat), a condition to which Saints and other deep-chested giant breeds are prone.” She’s a pleasant, friendly girl who will need a refresher course in obedience as she pulls a bit on her leash but she genuinely wants to please. We’d strongly prefer a fenced yard for Lola. Think she might be the Saint for you? 12/20/2006

Darla: Sad-faced Darla is approximately 2 years old. She was found and not reclaimed at the shelter. Darla needs to gain about 20 lbs. She is a loving, obedient girl who is waiting for a loving home. Spayed, shots, microchip – $200 Adoption fee. 12/19/2006

Princess: Hi my name is Princess. I am an 11 month old, long haired, female saint bernard. I love to go on walks, and sit by your feet while you watch TV. I am curious about cats. I don’t know what they are yet. I get along with other dogs and children. I am only 60 lbs. I need to gain some weight. I have had my shots and have tested heartworm negative. I will need to be spayed. My foster mom tells me that I’m super sweet and loves the kisses I give her. Would you be my new parents? 12/18/2006

Dryfus: Hi my name is Dryfus. I’m a 90 lbs saint, great with children, 1 1/2 years old, long haired and curious. I love to close to people. I need to gain 30 to 40 lbs. I walk well on a leash. Would you be my new parents? 12/18/2006

Mercedes: was found by Animal Control trying to survive in a field. She was very thin and so matted she had to be shaved. Mercedes is approx. 8 to 12 months old. She is very playful and is okay with other dogs. She is spay and current on Shots. 12/18/2006

Whitney: I came to rescue from a Central Illinois shelter after I was picked up as a stray. I am approximately 4-5 years old and I am great with other dogs, cats and children. I am heartworm positive and will begin treatment shortly. I will not be ready for adoption until mid-November but we will be accepting applications for adoption. I am a real doll that loves to just be petted and loved. I am pretty laid back and love to just hang out! 12/14/2006

Mona Lisa: Gorgeous Saintly Girl ready to love you! Hi! My name is Mona Lisa. If you have ever considered adopting a Saint Bernard, I am your gal, and the time is 12/14/2006

Lucy: sweet, loving 2 1/2 year old female St. Bernard who needs someone to give her some extra TLC to adjust to a new home. She gets along with other dogs and is gentle around children. She is timid at first and needs a family with the love and patience to give her time to gain her confidence and feel wanted in a new, caring home. She came into Rescue as an owner turn-in with her mother, Mindy, who has been placed in a home and doing great. Now, its Lucy’s turn! Spayed, shots, microchip 12/13/2006

Brandy: Buddy: is about 6 yrs young currently & her son is about 4 yrs. They are super dogs, easy to walk (Buddy could use a little work!), very gentle & so loving. The only thing is Buddy is so attached to his mother we found out he HAS to be adopted with her. They follow each other’s every move, sleep together, eat together & play together. They had lived in a home with cats & children & other dogs. They are housebroken and their last home had an underground fence for them which they learned quickly. They are very large dogs being 160# (as if you ever find a small St Bernard though!) and will be a great addition as long as the family loves giant teddy bears & can put up with some St Bernard drool….which they don’t have as much of as some we’ve seen, but still slobber when they shake their heads! The do require quite a bit of brushing as they have gorgeous thick coats that will shed 12/12/2006

Shylo: Meet Shylo, named for her shyness. She is about 1 year old. She is really coming out of her shyness as time goes along. She is great with people, kids, and all other animals. She loves to play with other dogs and really craves the attention she gets from humans. 12/11/2006

MANDY: This little sweetie is 10-month-old MANDY, who came into Rescue as a casualty of a divorce. She’s spayed, vaccinated, HW-negative and housetrained. Mandy loves stuffed animals (though she does love to tear them apart) and riding in the car. She plays well with other dogs but has not yet been cat-tested. She has the SOFTEST fur and gives great kisses. Mandy will need a fenced yard and an owner who is willing to complete obedience training with her. The successful applicant will have children over age 8. Got room on your lap for a cuddle-bug? 12/10/2006

Simone: 3 yr. old, short haired, spayed female. Very sweet, loving and gentle. Obedience trained and housebroken. Loves all humans, does not do cats or small dogs. 12/6/2006

Sampson: 5 yr. old., long haired, neutered male. Super nice boy, gets along with just about everyone. Has pep in his step. Lives for dog cookies. Likes to go for walks and play with Nylabones. 12/6/2006

Honey: 18 month old female. Rough coat. Came to rescue when her previous owners could not care for her anymore. Super sweet and loving. Loves to play with the other dogs and is good with kids. House and crate trained. Has some obedience but will need a class to finish her obedience training. 12/3/2006

Bono: 6 month old rough coated male. Came to rescue from an emergency clinic. He had been hit by a car and his previous owners could not pay his vet bill. Bono is a typical puppy. Loves everyone and everything. Needs all forms of training. He is crate trained. 12/3/2006

Naboo: 18 month old female. Rough coat. Came to rescue from a commercial breeding facility. Will need all forms of training but is doing well with her socialization. Loves to be petted and the center of attention. Has done very well with the kids here in rescue but we have not been able to test her with toddlers. Naboo was born with a club foot on her right rear leg but it doesn’t slow her down at all. She likes to run and play with the other dogs in her foster home. 12/3/2006

Roxy: Please say hello to your new best friend – Roxy the St. Bernard! Roxy’s original owner had to move overseas and was given to a friend. Unfortunately, her new owner was unable to give her the proper care and attention she needed. Roxy is just over 1 year old and as sweet as can be. She is a little underweight right now, likely due to her previous living situation. She is potty trained and knows basic obedience (i.e., sit, stay, no). As an added bonus, Roxy does not seem to drool like other St. Bernard’s! Due to her extremely sweet disposition, we believe that Roxy would do well with children. We do know that Roxy enjoys the company of other dogs, as she plays all day with our Airedale. She is a little curious about cats, but in a non-aggressive way. Sometimes she does like to chase our cat just to have some fun. But, she will stop in her tracks if you say no. She is truly one of the sweetest, most affectionate dogs we have ever known. She is also spayed and up to date on her shots. If you have any questions or want to make Roxy your “forever friend” 12/2/2006

Sassy: Sassy is a BEAUTIFUL mahogany Rough Coat Female Saint Bernard. She 4yrs old and weighs about 130lbs. She’s spayed, up-to-date on shots, started on preventative medicine, crate trained, potty trained, and obedience trained. Sassy is the sweetest, loveable and obedient Saint we have ever worked with. She is eager to please and always looking for praise from her owner. She had a rough start. She was used as a breeding dog for 3 years and then dumped at a local shelter. She was completely malnourished and caring 4 babies. She was able to deliver and care for her 4 babies for 8 weeks. She was a wonderful mother and helped prepare them for the real world. She is now searching for a forever home of her own. Due to the breeding environment, she was not well socialized and she is extremely fearful of other animals. With simple correction, she will focus on her owner instead of the other animal. She needs to live in a home without other pets so that she can get all of the attention. MUST have Large Breed Experience! For more information, please contact Jamie Byrnes. 11/30/2006

HOLLY: OLLIE: POLLY: and WALLY: Meet the quartet — two girls and two boys: HOLLY, OLLIE, POLLY, and WALLY came into Saint Rescue following their owner’s death. Unfortunately, there were no family members who had the room to take in four Saints. They’re all roughcoats who are vaccinated, HW-negative, and housetrained. Holly’s spayed; Ollie’s neutered. Polly and Wally are scheduled to be snipped in the next couple of weeks. Holly and Wally are one year old. Polly’s two. Ollie’s three. We’re told that they all had the same mother but not the same father. They have lots of puppy energy and they play hard. (Sometimes it’s exhausting just watching them as they romp in the yard together) They don’t have a mean bone in their bodies. They don’t have to be placed together but each would do well with another dog in the family, and they think it’s great fun to play-chase cats. They’ll do fine with children, though they’ll probably knock over a toddler as they frolic. A fenced yard is strongly preferred. Saint experience would be a plus. 11/28/2006

Lilly: is a 2 you spayed female rough coat. Her owners turned her in because they had more dogs than they could care for. 11/27/2006

Sammy: is a 9 mo old St puppy that was at a pet sitter but the owner didn’t want him anymore and the pet sitter already had 2 dogs , 2 cats and kids of her own so she couldn’t keep him. He was surrendered to WSBR foster home with 2 other St’s where he is learning ‘puppy rules’ . After being neutered and up dated on his shots and microchipped , he will be available for adoption to a forever home. 11/26/2006

Daisy: and Duke: They are approx 5 mo old puppies that came from a bad situation and are being treated for a respiratory illness and then will be neuter and spay and available for adoption. 11/26/2006

Mack: is a young male that came from Biloxie, Mississippi from a neglect situation. He will be treated for heartworm after his treatment for Rocky Mountain spotted fever and after he has gained some weight to be stronger. 11/26/2006

Max: 9 month old smooth coated male. Max came to rescue when his previous owners had health issues. He is a very sweet and outgoing boy who loves to wrestle (really hard) and play as much as possible. He is house trained and crate trained. Max has completed puppy classes and is ready to start basic obedience. 11/26/2006

Ben: 18 month old rough male. Came to rescue as a stray. Ben is a very happy dog. Loves to spend all his time playing with the other dogs and loving on the people. He is very happy living in the house. He is crate and house trained but will need to go to obedience classes. Ben is an active pup who would do best in a home with another dog to play with. He would also make a great hiking partner. Ben will require a home with 6 ft fencing since he has the athletic ability to jump a 4 ft fence. 11/26/2006

Lola: 18 month old female. Smooth coat. Came to rescue from a shelter. She is a high energy dog who likes hiking and swimming. She has a high prey drive so a no cat home is a must. She is very attached to her people and always wants to be doing whatever they are doing. She is house and crate trained but will need obedience training. 11/26/2006

Beanie: 18 month old rough coated female. Beanie was seized by animal control due to neglect. She used to be a chain dog but now loves living in the house. She is good with the other male dogs. Loves to run, wrestle and play with them. Hasn’t quite decided where she belongs in the female group. Beanie loves attention and pets. She will need obedience training and socialization to the world. With a little work, this one will be a great companion. 11/26/2006

Twila: this sweet girl was found and not reclaimed so she is in Rescue now and available for adoption. Twila is approximately 2 years old. She gets along with other dogs and is a friendly, playful girl! 11/26/2006

Christopher: I’m not really sure what I did wrong. I used to live in Missouri and came to Illinois for a visit. On the way here my owner pushed me out of the car and drove away leaving me alone, hungry, and very scared. I was brought to an animal control agency where I continued to get very depressed and sick. Luckily for me, ISBR came to my rescue. Now I am getting better everyday and looking for a new home. I am great with other dogs, cats, children, and humans. I love to head butt you for a pet. I am a bit of a shadow as I like to follow you around. Would you like to make me your new best friend? 11/26/2006

Callie: I came to rescue after a good Samaritan rescued me from a high kill Central Illinois shelter. She had me groomed and all cleaned up to start my new life. I am a very sweet girl who likes to play “Velcro”…I stick to you! I am good with other dogs, cats, and children. I have some skin issues as I was outside for a long time and the fleas and flies had their way with me. I am skinny but with good nutrition, I will be gaining weight in no time. I am 2-3 years old and I just want to be your best friend! 11/26/2006

Simon: is about two years old and gets along with other dogs. He is heartworm free, has all his shots and has been neutered. 11/25/2006

Sarah: Hi my name is Sarah. I am a four month old, 50 pound, female saint bernard. I was left outside for most of my life. I am working on my housetraining. I love to play with the bullmastiff that my foster family has. I get along with dogs, cats, and children. I need to practice walking on a leash. I am now house trained and walk well on a leash. If you would like to adopt me please contact Jennifer, Lisa, or Kathi at above numbers. 11/23/2006

ARIES: is a 15 month old (estimated age) rough-coat neutered male. Right now he weighs in at around 110 lbs. & is still growing! He is current on his shots & has been heartworm tested. Aries came into rescue as a stray. He is staying with a family on a farm right now & seems to be good with most everything. Aries is good with other dogs & children too. We prefer he go to a home with no small dogs or small children. He plays a little to rough & maybe accidentally knock over a toddler or step on a small animal. He is fine with livestock & medium to large dogs. Aries loves that water & is a swimmer! He also LOVES to play with his toys, & loves to play tug! Aries will also be happy to fetch a stick for you, but he will not give it up! He pulls a little on the lead, but once corrected, walks just fine. Aries is a big goofy pup, who loves all kinds of attention. Aries is also a talker & likes to mumble when playing with his toys! If you are the family to this happy go lucky guy, please do not hesitate to call! 11/23/2006

Cujo: is a beautiful 22 month old Rough Coat, Neutered male. He is very playful and loves attention, but can be protective of his family and home. He walks well on a leash and loves to give plenty of kisses. Cujo was a owner surrender, along with his sister Jolie. Cujo is housetrained and will sleep by your bed at night, unless you let him sleep with you. We are unsure about Large Dogs, but know that he does not tolerate a male that is not neutered. He wants to be and is the ALFA Dog. He lived in a home with cats and small dogs, but doesn’t like new ones invading his territory. He is very affectionate and loves children!! Cujo wants nothing more than to have a family to love him. Do you have the home for me? UPDATE 1/17/2006; Cujo is still available. His sister has been adopted, but Cujo is patiently waiting. This boy is great!! Fill out an on-line application to be considered for this boy. 11/22/2006

LYLA: Sweet Lyla just celebrated her third birthday. She’s a smoothcoat Saint who is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm-negative, and housetrained. An exceedingly affectionate little lass, Lyla has perfected the art of being a shadow — Where you go, she goes. She does well with most other dogs and is reported to be fine with cats but she definitely prefers the company of humans. She’s quite gentle with children as young as age 4. She’s a leaner and a kisser. She’s working on perfecting her obedience skills and would dearly love to be part of a family. Lyla has spent far too many lonely hours by herself and she deserves better. The perfect family will include children, and she’d like a stay-at-home mom (or dad) so she won’t have to be alone. We’d like her to have a fenced yard. 11/20/2006

BEETHOVEN 4: Two years old and a big boy, BEETHOVEN 4 is looking for a new family due to his human mom’s pregnancy. He’s a smoothcoat (shorthaired) fellow who is closing in on 200 pounds. That’s a LOT of dog! Beethoven is neutered, HW-negative, vaccinated, and housetrained. He’s originally from a reputable local breeder who produces sound, healthy dogs. He does pretty well with most other dogs, though he doesn’t seem to be aware of his size; but he doesn’t like cats. He loves swimming, riding in the car, and peanut butter. Somewhat on the timid side, his dislikes include the vacuum cleaner and the lawnmower, and he hates going outside in the rain. Beethoven will need a Saint-experienced owner with a firm but loving hand who will help him develop good leash manners. A fenced yard will be necessary, as will successful completion of formal obedience lessons. We’d recommend older children only or no children. 11/20/2006

Mindy: Very sweet, loving 2 1/2 year old female St. Bernard. Mindy is a happy girl who gets along with other dogs and adores belly rubs! She came into Rescue as an Owner Turn-in because the family could no longer take care of her. Spayed, shots, microchip 11/20/2006

Bailey: this adorable one year old female smoothcoat is an owner turn-in from Caliente, NV. Bailey is loving and sweet, good with people and children. She gets along with other dogs, she is just a bit protective of her food with other dogs. 11/20/2006

Roxy: is a female approximately 1 to 2 years old. She was a stray and would watch her food. It would be best to go to a home with a male. She is great with small children and older ones. Roxy would love a brand new home. 11/19/2006

Barney: Is a 1 1/2 yr old longhaired male saint. He came in with his brother Fred. Very sweet boy who wants a forever home to call his own. Loves giving kisses and being petted. He is also good with other dogs and kids. 11/19/2006

Sadie: is a gorgeous pure bred Saint Bernard. She is three years old. Her family loves her very much and has taken good care of her. Due to personal circumstances, they are looking for a new home. She will only be adopted to a fantastic home where she will be welcomed in as part of the family. Sadie has graduated from obedience school. She is a good girl with a great heart. She can get a little enthusiastic and will need help learning to keep her front paws on the ground when she greets you! Sadie currently lives with three other dogs and two cats. She does well, but tends to try to hog the attention (very typical for many Saints). She is what we call a “Velcro Dog”. She wants to be as close as possible to you and truly wants to be a lap dog! Although she is on the small side for a Saint (a little under 100 pounds), she is a big girl. A home with large breed experience would be ideal. If you do not have large breed experience, please do your homework and research this wonderful breed. Go ahead and ask questions too. Sadie is spayed, up to date on shots, HW negative, and healthy. She lives in Huntsville, Alabama. 11/13/2006

Mel: is a 3 yo neutered male rough coat. This guy is super sweet and a healthy 125 pounds. 11/13/2006

Rocko: 1.5 year old male. Rough coat. Came to rescue when his previous owners got divorced. He is a typical puppy and loves to play hard. He will need a home with another dog to help keep him busy. Rocko is a water dog and loves to play in it as much as he can. He is house trained and crate trained but will need to go to obedience school. Rocko is good with other dogs and cats. 11/12/2006

Sully: is a 1 yr old longhaired male. He’s a very active boy who loves everyone. He’s good with other dogs and is housebroken and has some training. He needs to be in a home with at least one other dog. 11/11/2006

Kramer: is about 9 months old he was found as a stray. He is good with other dogs. For a puppy he is very laid back. He loves people is happy to just be in your lap. Kramer is more than likely mixed with another breed this of course makes him a designer dog that people pay hundreds of dollar for. Kramer is neutered and current on his shot. A fenced in yard is required. 11/9/2006

Annie: this beautiful girl is a 3 year old St./Newfie mix who was rescued from the local shelter. Annie is loving and kind. She gets along with other dogs and is a good girl! Spayed, shots, microchip 11/6/2006

NATHANIEL: is a 3 year old longhair, neutered male…loves people of all ages and dogs too! We are not sure about cats. He is housebroken and not at all destructive in the house. He loves to romp and play in the backyard with the other Saints. His favorite past times are loving attention, belly rubs, tug-o-war and being close to his human companions. He would be a wonderful member of your home. 11/5/2006

Lacey: I am a sweet 6 month old puppy who came to rescue after my owners could no longer care for me properly. I am good with other dogs cats, and older children. I will need obedience training and PROOF OF ENROLLMENT WILL BE REQUIRED FOR ADOPTION. I am a pretty laid back puppy but do have some great spurts of energy! I love to romp and play and sometimes get a little muddy but boy! is that fun!!! 11/2/2006

TIA: Meet five-month-old TIA. She’s a playful little lady who LOVES to roll in mud. (Her foster mom calls her Mud Puppy.) She’s spayed, vaccinated, and HW-negative. She’s not yet completely housetrained, though she does try. Tia thinks all the toys in the world are hers and all the attention in the world should be hers as well. She has a slightly deformed ear flap resulting from getting too close to a wood stove when she was only a few weeks old. Tia is a delightful baby with lots of puppy energy. She will need a Saint-experienced owner who will work with her to help her become the very best dog she can be. A fenced yard is preferred, though is not essential. And we will be requiring successful completion of formal obedience classes. Got room in your heart (and on your sofa)? 10/31/2006

Bubba: 3 yr old male. Came to rescue from an owner who could not care for him. He is great with other dogs. Loves to play and chase. Good with kids. House trained and knows most of his obedience commands. He is a very well behaved boy! 10/30/2006

Guido: This 11 month old boy came to us after his owner gave him up to an Illinois shelter. They purchased Guido as a cute little puppy but he soon grew up. Not realizing that Saints get very large and they need training, Guido soon had no manners. With the help of ISBR, Guido is learning to be a “big boy” now and is learning new rules everyday! He is crate trained and house trained. He is great with other dogs and cats. He would do well in house with older children as he has a tendency to not know his own size. He loves to play ball and with toys. He is a real sweetheart! 10/30/2006

Bubbles: This sweet 5 month old little girl came to us after her owner’s abandoned her at an animal hospital when she was ill. The animal hospital nursed Bubbles back to health and helped her find her way to ISBR. She is a very sweet girl but since she spent her first months without any training she is a little behind. She is good on a leash and is learning everyday. She is crate trained and almost housebroken. She is great with other dogs and cats. She would do best with children over 10 years old. 10/30/2006

CHIEF: Meet 10-month-old roughcoat CHIEF. He’s a handsome dude who’s got the longest legs!! Recently neutered, he’s vaccinated, HW-negative, and housetrained. Though he has lived with young children he’s a bit of a bull in a china shop so we’d prefer a family with children over age 10. Chief has limited exposure to other dogs so he would likely do best as the family’s only dog. He’s not been exposed to cats; however, he played nicely with a bunny in his original home. He especially likes riding in the car and carrying around a stick. He’s a sensitive boy who doesn’t like raised voices. And the big baby’s afraid of the vacuum cleaner. The successful applicant will have a fenced yard and will be committed to successfully completing obedience training with Chief. 10/28/2006

CAGNEY: and LACY: Say hello to CAGNEY and LACY, two young roughcoat (longhaired) housemates who are funny and playful and impish. Interested in taking on one or both of these pretty Saintly ladies? They promise to keep you on your toes. They seem fine with children of all ages and give great puppy kisses. A fenced yard is preferred. Formal obedience training will be a requirement of their contracts. 10/28/2006

Dylan: is a 1 yr old male ST/mix. He was a stray. He has Lots of energy and LOVES to play with balls, squeaky toys and stuffed animals. He is very energetic and loves Attention. He would make a great family dog for an active family who has time to spend with him and continue his Obedience training which WSBR is going to start. He is Very smart and you need to stay one step ahead of him. Definetly needs a fenced yard to give him an area to Exercise in. 10/26/2006

Tinkerbelle: is a young female that gets along with other dogs, likes to play. She was surrendered because they had no time for her. 10/26/2006

Brewster: My name is Brewster in front of my foster Home. It’s much nicer here than in the shelter I came from, even tho the shelter was better than being out in the cold by myself all the time. I like to play with my foster sister and romp in the yard with her, and then I come in and rest my bones. I also have toys to play with and bones to chew on and even a soft bed to lay on! There must be something different about me because I have funny looking elbows and my mom gives me special food and “treats” everyday. She keeps saying it’s too bad that I have arthritis at such a young age. Do you have room in your heart to give me a forever home? 10/26/2006

Tiny Tim: is a 3-4 yr old long haired male. He’s as sweet as sweet can be. He’s very good natured, and pretty good on a leash. He loves people but not sure about little kids or other dogs. He wants a loving family to call his own. 10/26/2006

Sabrina will be fully vaccinated, de-wormed, on heartworm and flea/tick preventative as well as microchipped prior to going to her home. 10/22/2006

Reno: Meet Reno A soon to be 4yr old rough coat. He is gentle and loves to be lying by your side for a good belly rub. He gets along very well with the other dogs. Don’t know about cats, but he probably would as he is very laid back. He is extremely afraid of water, as he was probably sprayed. He is tall and about 125 lbs. He knows basic commands. He likes to play with the other animals, but settles down nicely in the house. 10/18/2006

Sophia: seems to be asking “Where is my cocktail?” She is a rough coat female, about 2-3 yrs of age. She is good with the other dogs, and loves children. she is very interested in the cat, but doesn’t seem malicious about her. She is learning good manners in the house, as she does like to climb up. She stresses easily at times and drools a lot when she does, but then settles down. She has been de-barked. 10/18/2006

Annabelle: and Alexis: Meet Annabelle and Alexis. They are 5 and 6 yrs old. They are housebroken and in need of a new home due to their previous owners health problems. They are sweet and loveable with people and other animals. Would like to keep them together if possible. 10/17/2006

Saflower: she is 18 months old and a very cuddly little girl. The first part of her life was not the best, so we are bound and determined to make the rest of it fantastic. Louise: is a 2yo spayed female rough coat. She and Thelma are sisters. 10/15/2006

Shane: this adorable boy is only 9 months old, and in need of a new home since his family is moving and not taking him along. Shane gets along with other dogs. He will need some basic obedience training because he is still in that “puppy” stage. Neutered, shots, microchip 10/15/2006

Romeo: 16 month old male. Rough coat. Came to rescue because he made a bad outside only dog. He can and will jump a 4 ft fence so he will need a home that will crate him inside while they are gone and that has a 6 ft fence. Romeo is great with other dogs and people. 10/13/2006

HUMPHREY: This good-looking chap just turned three years old. He’s a roughcoat (longhaired) boy whose main claim to fame is that he’s a big love-sponge. His family recently moved to Florida and decided not to take him south with them. (Big mistake ’cause he’s a darling.) The only thing he likes better than being hugged is the occasional Egg McMuffin. Humphrey’s vaccinated and negative for heartworm. He’s neutered and housetrained. He’s recovering from a pesky urinary tract infection and will soon be ready to interview families. He’d like to be the family’s only pet (after all, why share the love if you don’t have to?), and will need a family with Saint experience, a fenced yard, and children over 8 or 9 years. If you’re looking for a big dog to love, Humphrey might be the boy for you. 10/7/2006

DAPHNE 3: Look into those adorable eyes! Three-year-old Daphne misses having someone to spoil her and would very much like to be part of a family again. An affectionate young lady, she’s vaccinated, heartworm-negative, housetrained, and soon to be spayed. She will need to be te family’s only pet as she hates sharing the limelight. But slip her a doughnut and she’ll be your friend for life. If you’re a regular at the Dunkin’ Donuts drive-through window, she might just be the girl for you. The successful application will have a secured fenced yard, Saint- or giant-breed-experience, and children over age 8 10/7/2006

NEMO 2: is a smoothcoat (shorthaired) 18-month-old boy who is neutered, vaccinated, and negative for HW. He’s a high-energy youngster with lots of puppy enthusiasm. His favorite things are playing with a football, a rope toy, and his human. In fact, he’s quite insistent when he wants to play with his human; he’ll whack you with his giant paw to engage you, and won’t take no for an answer. Nemo does well with other dogs and also with cats. But he’s slow to warm up to new people and new situations so we’ll be looking for a patient Saint-experienced family willing to continue the socialization process we’ve begun with him. Successful completion of formal obedience training will be a requirement of his contract. If you have a fenced yard and children age 12 or older, let’s talk about Nemo. He’s a wonderful boy with lots of potential. 10/7/2006

Sadie: This darling girl is 8 years old and was surrendered to our Rescue by her family because they were in “transition” moving out of state and said they couldn’t take her along. They have had Sadie since she was a puppy. Please consider giving Sadie a new, loving and Forever home. She is super sweet, very good in the house, gets along with other dogs, loves to ride in the car. She could be better on a leash, though! Sadie’s adoption fee is $100 to help with the cost of spay, shots and microchip. 10/5/2006

BAILEY 5: This darling smoothcoat female is six years young. She’s a delightful girl who loves nothing more than cuddling with her humans. She’s like a little stuffed bear — You just can’t help but hug her! Bailey’s vaccinated, HW-negative, and housetrained. She came to us when her owner required orthopedic surgery and didn’t feel he could adequately care for her during his extended rehab period. Bailey would like a family with children on whom she can bestow kisses. She’d probably do best as the family’s only dog; she is reported to play nicely with cats. We’d prefer a fenced yard for Bailey. And Saint experience would be a plus. 7/31/2006

Harry: is a 6yo M/n smooth coat. This guy is very sweet and laid back. He would be great in a home with kids to watch over. 10/2/2006

She knows her name and basic commands but needs a little work walking on a leash. 9/27/2006

I am a very sweet 8 year old who would love a chance at a happy home! 9/17/2006

Marilyn: Marilyn was among many Saints rescued from a bad situation. With the help of dedicated rescuers from around the United States, all of the Saints were placed safely in Saint Bernard Rescue Groups. The life of these dogs was not a glamorous one. Before they were rescued, these dogs lived in very small, dirty pens. For 18 months they grew up here never seeing the sun, moon, grass, snow, or rain. They have never had a bath or have been brushed. They have never wore a collar or walked on a leash. They have never known love or a belly rub. Now with the help of ISBR, this lovely lady will have a chance at a new life. We have found that she is good with other dogs. We would not recommend her to families with small children under 5 years but older children would be good. Update: This sweet girl has sure come along way in just a couple of months. Although she is still pretty shy with new people, she is just a lover! She loves other dogs especially. She has been attending adoption events and is socializing better each time. She’ll even sneak a kiss here and there to a stranger. She still needs some work but would love a chance at a new life. You’ll have to have some patience but in the end, she’s going to make someone a really nice dog! She really like car rides and boy! she sure loves toys!!! 9/17/2006

These guys were picked up by the police while playing in the middle of an intersection. No one ever came to claim them. They have both been neutered and have received all shots. I am pretty petite…about 85 pounds. I would really like a real life, in a real home! 9/1/2006

Buddy: Looking for a new best bud? Then I am your man! The first 2 years of my life have been pretty rough. So some lady took me in, but then she didn’t like my hair and shaved it all off! It’s slowly growing back in, but my foster mom and dad don’t know what it’s going to look like when it’s fully in, so I guess it will be a surprise!!! I love to play with my foster brother Cody and at the dog park with my foster sister Chuckie, but sometimes I like to pick fights with other dogs when I meet them, especially if there a bigger dog. But once I get to know them, I love to play with them! I’m scared of fireworks and other loud noises, but I feel safe if I’m in my home. Chester would make a great addition to his new family. 8/22/2006

Riley: is a 3 yr old male saint. He is very good with people and older kids. He’s a very happy boy and is house trained. He wants a permanent family to call his own. Not sure if he is good with other dogs. 8/22/2006

Ashley: Gigi: These 3 sisters came to us after they were among many Saints rescued from a bad situation. Now with the help of ISBR, these three lovely ladies will have a chance at a new life. We have found that they are pretty good with other dogs and Ashley has even met cats. We would not recommend them to families with small children but older children would be good. Update: These girls have come along way in just a couple of months. Although they are still pretty shy with new people, they are just lovers! They love other dogs especially. They have been attending adoption events and are socializing better each time. They’ll even sneak a kiss here and there to a stranger. They still need some work but would love a chance at a new life. You’ll have to have some patience but in the end, they’re gonna make someone a really nice dog! They would still do better in a house with children older than 5 years since some of these little ones scare them. They really like car rides and boy! they sure love toys!!! 8/20/2006

Rowdy: Rowdy is a 2 year old rough coat Saint Bernard. He’s housetrained, GREAT with kids and other dogs but HATES CATS! Rowdy is neutered, fully vaccinated, on heartworm and flea/tick preventative as well as microchipped. 8/19/2006

Emma: Female, longhair, 1 1/2 years old, spayed Saint Bernard. She is current on shots, heartworm negative, her background is unknown since she was a stray. She is Princess Emma and LOVE people, plus she seems to have no problems with other dogs. Princess Emma is so sweet and just wants to be loved. Housebroke and has limited obedience training. 8/17/2006

Amy: Very sweet 2 1/2 year old St. Bernard. Amy was hit by a car as a pup and damaged her left hind leg. The leg did not grow properly and most of the time she gets around on three legs. This does not slow her down, but she will need a warm place-possibly a heated bed-to sleep on in the winter as the cold can cause discomfort. She is housebroken and has pretty good house manners. She is on the small side at 95 pounds. She gets along well with our two saints, but will chase the cats. 8/17/2006

Delilah: is a wonderful girl who is approximately 18 months. She has been spayed and current on her shots and heartworm preventative. Delilah was abandoned in a closed pet shop when she was a young girl. A group of wonderful people came to her aid. She was adopted, but it unfortunately didn’t work out, so she came to us here. She loves people and attention, riding in the car and going for walks. She can be a little unsure of herself when meeting new dogs. Enrolling Delilah in an obedience class would do wonders for her self-confidence and bonding with her new family. Do you have a special place in your home and heart to allow Delilah to bloom? 8/16/2006

JINGLES: is temporarily unavailable. Sadly she tested positive for heartworms. She will begin treatment March 29, 2006. Upon successful treatment of this avoidable condition, she will again be available. She weighed 108.9 pounds on her recent visit to the vet on March 23. 8/16/2006

Maxxxie: Meet Maxxxie (yup, that’s how he spells his name). He’s a middle-aged dude who still has years of cuddling to bestow on some lucky family. Maxxxie is vaccinated, heartworm-negative, neutered and housetrained. He’s great with children and with other dogs, though little dogs make him a bit nervous when they’re out of his line of sight (like under his big ole tummy). Among his favorite things are riding in the car, sliced turkey, and his stuffied Odie dog. Max could stand to drop a few pounds (couldn’t we all?) He comes into Rescue as a casualty of divorce and is a gem. We’d like a fenced yard for the big guy. And your lap had better be big ’cause that’s where he likes to be. Got room for him? 8/13/2006

miss bea: she’s all up to date on all her shots. She was spayed when she was very young….5 months. As for a little about her. She weighs approx. 120lbs, she has the stately st bernard eyes, a healthy appetite, a very intelligent girl, with a super personality! She loves to be brushed and vacuumed. Has never gone to bathroom in our house!! 8/7/2006

Jessie: is 7 mo old neutered male rough coat. His owners turned him in due to his size, activity level and time constraints. He is a very sweet puppy that needs time and attention. 8/6/2006

Orlando: a 1.5 yo neutered male smooth coat, is a great dog. He had a rough start in life. He was abandoned by Hispanic owners in a trailer park and spent some time on his own until befriended by the kind man that brought him to us. We are working on the language barrier and he pretty much understands not to chase the cats nor get bread off the counter or help himself to the trash cans. “No” works well. He loves being brushed and petted. Maxine, our resident old girl, gives him many tips on being a good dog. He seems to understand her instructive barks quite well. He’ll do very well in a home where he can share his love w/ someone willing to let him develop into the wonderful dog he’ll be. 8/6/2006

Morgan: 4 year old male. Rough coat. Came to rescue when his previous owners had a new baby and didn’t have time for him anymore. He is house trained, obedience trained and crate trained. He walks well on a leash, rides well in the car & loves to give kisses while he gets pets. Morgan has earned his AKC good citizen award and is not destructive in the house. He does good with other dogs but gets excited when meeting new dogs. He would do best in a home where he can be the top male dog and where he can hog attention. 8/6/2006

Helga: is a 2 year old female. She is a splash coat, half-mask. She has a great temperament and wants someone to love and play with her. She gets along gets with other dogs and children. 8/5/2006

Simba: will be 1 yr old Feb 28, 2006 . He has had a hard life before coming into rescue, but he is the sweetest St for all he has been thru. Simba was born blind, but has amazing other senses that have taken over and he can do stairs like a sighted dog, walk on leash. He loves to play with other animals and deserves a VERY special forever home. 8/5/2006

PENELOPE: This little darling is 16-month-old Penelope. She’s incredibly sweet and gentle and desperately needs a mom and dad. As you can see from her picture she’s quite thin. Additionally she’s recovering from a nasty case of pneumonia, but soon she’ll be feeling well enough for visitors. Penny is spayed, vaccinated, and HW-negative. She has had a tough early life and just wants to be hugged. Whatever affection you give her is returned ten-fold. She seems fine with children and with most other dogs. We don’t know about cats but in all likelihood she’d be okay with cats. A fenced yard isn’t necessary as long as you commit to regular walks on leash. 7/31/2006

ABNER: Hi. I’m ABNER and I’m 13 months old. I’d like a home and family, please. I’m already neutered and my shots are up-to-date and I’m heartworm-negative. I’m pretty much housetrained as long as you respond when I let you know I need to go out. I bark at cats ’cause it’s fun to watch them run. I like to play with other dogs. I especially like stealing the kids’ stuffed animals. (I actually like them better than dog toys.) My foster mom’s a push-over. When she tells me to do something I sometimes ignore her but when her husband gives me a command I hop to it. Sometimes I get into trouble by stealing stuff off the kitchen counter but, hey, if you leave it out I say it’s fair game. I’ve been learning my commands and would like a family who will take me to obedience class. The one thing I haven’t yet gotten the hang of is walking nice on a leash (I tend to pull a little) but I promise to try harder to develop good leash manners if you’ll come and adopt me. I’ll need a fenced yard. A couple of kids to play with would be great but they should be over 8. I’m waiting 7/31/2006

Tasha: 3 yrs – this month. A Shorthaired female. Tasha had to be given up due to allergies in the home. She has been well taken care of and has been an inside dog. She is spayed, potty trained and up to date on everything. She has not had any cat exposure but gets along with other dogs. Has not been around small children. 7/31/2006

Marge aka Grandma: is an approximately 9 yo rough coat spayed female. She was rescued from a shelter that still euthanizes by the gas chamber. The human saint that found her and brought her to me understood she may need to be put down but preferred her dying by lethal injection if necessary. She is severely emaciated, her coat in dire condition. She has bad hips, ears and eyes, but still wants to get up and go. I couldn’t kill her and am looking for a “permanent” foster home for her. She needs a comfy place to sleep and a place to call home for the rest of her life. She prefers upside down snoozing w/ her eyes open… She’s scared us a few times… Grandma are you OK??? laughs. I will post a picture when she gains some weight. She weighed in at just over 90 pounds on entry and has a frame large enough to carry at least 140 pounds comfortably. 7/31/2006

Aspen: This is Aspen. She is approx 9 months old. She will be spayed. all shots will be current. she will be micro chipped and wormed and started in obedience before she goes to her new forever home. She needs lots of love and attention and training. She will be a fabulous dog if allowed to bloom in the right home. 7/29/2006

SADIE: is a 2 year old rough-coat female. She weighs in at around 110 lbs. Sadie is spayed, current on shots & has been heartworm tested. Sadie is a very friendly girl & has been behaviorally assessed for children of all ages. She does pull when being walked on a lead, so we suggest that you use a gentle leader to correct this behavior. Sadie is a pleasure to be around. She knows the following commands: “sit”, “stay”, “shake” & “come”. Sadie also loves to play fetch! If Sadie seems to be a good match for your family. 7/26/2006

DASHER: is a 10 month old rough-coat male. He weighs in at around 110 lbs. & is still growing!!!!! Dasher is neutered, current on shots & has been heartworm tested. His previous owner bought Dasher as a puppy, but as he grew ( and grew and grew) ….the kids lost interest in taking care of him, and he ended up spending most of his time alone. Dasher loves people, dogs and any other attention that he can get!. Dasher loves to romp & play with the other dogs, but afterwards he is very content just to lie down and spend most of his day relaxing! All Dasher wants is a family that will give him all the loving attention & care that he needs. He will make a magnificent, devoted companion to the right home. We prefer he goes to a home with a nice fenced yard & kids over the age of 8 years old. Adoption fee is $350. 7/26/2006

HARLEY: is a 3 1/2 year old rough-coat male. He is on the skinny side & weighs in at about 120 lbs. Harley is neutered, current on shots & has been heartworm tested. He is housebroken & crate trained, but does not care for the crate. Harley is good with other dogs. We prefer him to go to a person with older children or no children at all. Harley is showing signs of hip dysplasia, so we are starting him on some Glucosamine & Condroitin. His dysplasia does not deter him in anyway. Harley is a VERY laid back, friendly boy. He is one of the easiest Saints to have around. Harley just needs a loving family to call his own. 7/26/2006

She gets along well with other dogs and cats. She has been around an eight year old child and just wanted to be loved. No small children as she will knock them down by trying to play. BERNARDETTE: is an amazingly sweet charmer who needs a mom. A three-year-old roughcoat, she is spayed, vaccinated, housetrained, and heartworm-negative. She was successfully treated for Lyme disease, hookworms, and tapeworms. Currently she’s suffering from an eye infection and once the infection clears up she will need eye surgery to correct a congenital deformity (at Rescue’s expense). Bernadette will soon be ready to interview potential families. We’d prefer that she be the family’s only pet as her vision isn’t the best, and she would benefit from a peaceful environment where she can just soak up the love. She enjoys riding in the car and is a wonderful traveling companion. She would like a family with children over age 8 or 9 who will spend time hanging out with her. A fenced yard is preferred but is not essential. She’s afraid of the vacuum cleaner so if you’re not a meticulous housekeeper maybe she’s the dog for you. Bernadette has completed two obedience courses. Why don’t you let her show you how smart she is? 7/15/2006

BAXTER: is a friendly, exuberant, roughcoat (longhaired) boy who is 16 months old. He is vaccinated and soon will be neutered. He will chew a shoe if he can get it so a home with supervision and appropriate toys is a must. Jasper is great with the other dogs and loves to wrestle with the kids. He will need a home with kids over 7 yrs old due to his size and activity level. Jasper will need to go to obedience school and will need an owner willing to take him out into the world and teach him that it is a great place to be. 7/12/2006

I’m underweight from eating only when they did decide to feed me plus I’ve been living on the streets. I’m really sweet and I love other dogs, cats, and children. I’m a social butterfly. They are good with other dogs and cats. Of course, we would like to place them together, but if that is not possible, we would consider a home for Shelby Free with someone who is willing to commit to a blind dog, and will provide a loving, safe home for her. Both are spayed, have their shots and microchipped. 6/12/2006

Chloe and Morgan: Hello! Our names are Chloe and Morgan! We are twin sisters, Great Pyrenees and Saint Bernard mixes. We are 3 years old. We have been with Illinois Saint Bernard Rescue since October of 2004. We can’t understand why no one wants us. First our owners bought us as puppies to be together and then dumped us in the country. With the help of this rescue group, we found a loving foster home. What we really want is a forever home where we can live together. We understand that we are “mixes”…”mutts” you might say. But aren’t those the best dogs??? We may not be pure Saint Bernards but we sure have their best qualities. We love other dogs and adore people and children. We are well behaved and trained. So, if you are looking for the two most awesome dogs you will ever meet. please adopt us!!! 6/4/2006

He’s neutered, housebroken, vaccinated and negative for heartworm. Storm plays well with other dogs as well as with cats, and is fine with children of all ages (though a wag of that big tail might inadvertently knock over a toddler). He is crate-trained. Storm will need a refresher course in leash manners but give him rice pudding and he’ll follow you anywhere. Because of his size and enthusiasm, successful completion of a formal obedience course will be a requirement of his adoption. Consideration will be given to applicants with a fenced yard and Saint or giant-breed experience. Think he’s the dog you’ve been waiting for? 5/29/2005

HALEY: This pretty little miss is three-year-old Haley. She’s a roughcoat (longhair) cutie who thinks humans were put here just to lavish attention on her. She’s spayed, housetrained, up-to-date on vaccinations, and HW-negative. She has lived with her buddy, Storm, for the past two years, and she “plays nice” with most other dogs. She even tolerates cats. Haley is friendly toward children of all ages. If you want a sweet Saint who will never leave your side, Haley’s your girl. She likes nothing better than hanging with humans and being petted. She will need formal obedience lessons to reinforce what she already knows. The successful applicant will have a fenced yard. Haley would prefer a home where she could be with (or perhaps occasionally see) her friend Storm if at all possible. 5/29/2005

Cassie: is a 3 yr. old. In her former life, she was used for breeding. She was a great mother. She is spayed now and looking forward to a life without pups. Maggie seems to walk well on a leash & rides great in a car too! Maggie is doing well in her foster home with the family pet cats too! Maggie is housebroken & is crate trained too! She is a high energy dog who is highly treat motivated . She does well with older children, but may tend to knock over small toddlers. 5/28/2006

BELLA 3: is an exceedingly sweet three-year-old smoothcoat female who came to us because she had epilepsy. She is spayed, housetrained, up-to-date on vaccinations, and heartworm-negative. Epilepsy is a manageable condition. After trial and error Bella’s epilepsy is finally well-controlled and she has not had a single seizure since starting on a new medication regimen. She desperately would love to be part of a family and she promises to be a very good girl if only you’ll take a chance on her.. She’s spayed, housetrained, vaccinated, and HW-negative. She’s an active, playful little lady whose favorite thing is cuddling with her humans and getting tummy rubs. She’s okay with children, though would prefer slightly older kids. Suzie does well with some (but not all) other dogs. She does NOT like cats. A fenced yard is preferred, and consideration will be given to the applicant with large- or giant-breed experience. 5/28/2006

COSMO: This cutie is five-month-old Cosmo. An owner-surrender, he is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and HW-negative. Though he’s still a baby he hasn’t had one accident in the house since arriving in Rescue. Cosmo is a curious little boy who enjoys checking out his world. He’s a social butterfly who just soaks up all the attention you can imagine a baby Saint gets. He plays with other dogs but hasn’t yet met a cat. The successful applicant will have a fenced yard and another dog to romp with Cosmo. Kids are fine. Successful completion of formal obedience lessons will be a requirement of his contract. 5/28/2006

Amos: Bess: Charlotte: Dixie: Edgar: Fiona: Meet Amos and his friends. Their breeder asked for our assistance in finding homes for these delightful little cuties and we were happy to oblige. The boys (Amos and Edgar) are neutered; the girls are spayed. All are up-to-date on vaccinations and are HW-negative. We will be requiring formal obedience training as a requirement of their contracts but they’re smart little critters who will quickly catch on. They’re adorable and playful and pleasant but, oh, do they have lots of puppy energy! Amos is one year old. Bess, Charlotte, Dixie, Edgar and Fiona are eight-month-old littermates. Are you ready to bring a funny fur-baby into your home? Preference will be given to applicants with a fenced yard, and Saint experience is a definite plus. 5/28/2006

Annie: is a very sweet 1yo spayed female Saint Mix. Not the prettiest gal in the world but a big gal and still growing. She’s very affectionate and gentle. 5/23/2006

Paola: is a 10 month old spayed female rough coat. She believes the world exists for her amusement. 5/23/2006

Emmett: My name is Emmett. I am an 15 month old smooth coat male. I came to rescue just 5 short months ago after I was tied out most of my young life and then dumped in a shelter. With the help of ISBR I found a new home. Unfortunately, I recently has two seizures and was returned to the rescue group. This may mean that I have Epilepsy but for now I get to be a happy pup and have a watchful eye on me. Although I may require an inexpensive medication in the future that I will need to take everyday, I can lead a very happy normal life. I am great with other dogs, cats, and children. I am a laid back boy who enjoys going for walks and car rides. I like to cuddle and watch tv. If you are looking for a really great dog that will turn people’s heads when you take me for a walk , then give me a chance at a happy forever home…YOURS!!!! 5/23/2006

Gracie Lou: Poor Miss Gracie Lou weighs only 62 pounds! She was found in Indiana under a front porch of someone’s home. She had been abandoned for a very long time. She was dehydrated, anemic, and emaciated. Poor Gracie Lou also has heartworm disease and will be treated as soon as she is strong enough to withstand the treatment. She won’t be ready to go to her new home until this summer but we would gladly accept applications for adoption or donations to help poor Gracie Lou. She has trouble seeing out of her one eye and has other intestinal parasites she is having trouble dealing with. Please if you are willing to take this poor soul into your heart and home or help her by making a donation, please contact us! She is good with other dogs and cats. We believe she is 3-6 years old. 5/23/2006

He is neutered, all shots are current, been wormed, and micro chipped. Just waiting for the right forever home. 5/14/2006

PRUDENCE: Meet PRUDENCE. Eight months old and full of energy, she is longhaired, spayed, vaccinated, and almost completely housetrained. Pru came VERY close to being euthanized at the kill shelter where she had ended up but got a last-minute reprieve from Maryland Saint Rescue. She made her way to New England where we’re helping her regain her health and put on some badly needed weight. Prudy wants very much to please and yearns for a family to call her own. Might that be you? She promises to love you if you’ll just give her a chance. Initially wary of strangers she quickly warms up and likes nothing better than cuddling. We’d prefer that the family have no other pets or only one other pet as Pru’s been so starved for attention and affection. She’s an active little girl who will need a fenced yard and owners who have the patience to help her “learn the ropes”. Because of her energy level, we’d prefer a family with children over 10. Successful completion of a formal obedience course will be a requirement of her adoption. 5/13/2006

BECKY: is a four year old roughcoat (longhaired) young lady who is vaccinated, spayed, HW-negative and housetrained. She is great with most other dogs and is fine with cats. She’s a love sponge who wants nothing more than to cuddle with her humans. Her previous human showed love by giving her french fries and now she needs to drop 20 pounds. (Don’t we all.) Becky pulls on the leash (probably trying to get to more fast food) so the successful applicant will be someone willing to work with her to develop good leash manners. Becky had a rough beginning, and spent her first two years chained to a fence, with very little human interaction. Despite that, she’s very willing to trust humans (though we can’t imagine why). If you’re looking for an affectionate little darling, Becky’s the dog for you. She will need a fenced yard, and successful completion of formal obedience lessons. And the family will have children over age 12. 5/13/2005

Titan: is a 6 month old pup who is looking for a new forever home. He had a rough start, but is blossoming beautifully in a loving environment. He is housebroke, crate trained, and started in obedience 101, and is doing well. He is neutered and has had his entropian eye surgery completed. All shots are current and he has been wormed. He loves all animals and wants to play. Loves people and tries really hard to please them. Toys and playtime are outranked only by dinner and treats. He has a wonderful disposition and will make someone a fantastic member of their family. 5/12/2006

Bernard: or so the shelter named him, was a stray. He gets along with other animals of all kinds. He loves to ride in the car and knows if he barks at the tollbooth he will get a ‘cookie’. He knows hand signals for sit, down and stay. He does seem to be afraid of large men in camouflage. 5/11/2006

Cody: was a stray at a high kill shelter. He gets along with kids, cats and dogs. He is heartworm negative and neutered. Updated on shots. 5/11/2006

Dreyfus: was born 2-14-02 at a puppymill and sold to a pet store and then bought by a family that knew nothing about ST Bernards and when he started getting bigger they turned him into a shelter because he jumped and tried to climb on them. ( Boy, just like a puppy !) So next family that adopted him loved him until he was about 2 yrs old but they got a divorce and couldn’t take him with them, so he was adopted by another family that loved him for a couple yrs but needed to move to take care of his elderly mother who had respiratory problems so Dreyfus came back into rescue and is just as loving and playful as back in his puppy days. He loves to play with other dogs and even though he has had several families so far, he SURE deserves a FOREVER. 5/11/2006

Tillie: My name is Tillie. I didn’t like being tied outside on that chain to the doghouse. Now I am in a nice comfy foster home, and they give me food and water regularly. I also am learning all the things a puppy was suppose to learn. I get attention from my foster family and dogs and cats. I would like my very own Forever home. 5/11/2006

Beethoven: came from a very neglectful situation. He was treated for heartworm and is healthy now. He loves to roughhouse with his foster dad. He needs someone that has previous male St experience. 5/11/2006

Eli: is one of the most handsome Male Saint Bernards ever. He is approx 5 years old, neutered, up-to-date on shots, and started on a heartworm, flea and tick preventative medicine. He weighs about 170lbs but needs to loose about 20lbs. With daily walks and some green veggies, he be looking trim by summer. He has been scheduled for a day at the beauty parlor to get him ready for the warm months. Eli was surrendered by his owner because she is moving to a location retirement center that doesn’t allow big, hairy, slobbery love bugs. He is extremely sweet and mellow. He enjoys laying at your feet and flipping over for belly rubs. He likes other dogs but doesn’t need one to keep him company. He would do best in a wonderful home where he can be the center of attention and get spoiled day and night. 5/9/2006

Nikki: is a 3 – 4yr rough coat Female Saint Bernard. She was used for breeding by a puppymiller and then dumped at a shelter. She came into the program extremely thin (over 40lbs underweight) and coat/skin was very dry and brittle. She has been fully vetted (including spay, removal of a cyst from her back, up-to-date on shots and started on heartworm, flea, tick prevention). She loves to eat and loves to be fed consistently (3 times a day until she reaches her ideal weight). She is starting to fill out nicely and her coat is coming in thick and shiny. She is housebroken and great on a leash. She is shy but eager to meet people and other animals. She’s a wonderful, loving Saint. Won’t you give Nikki a forever home. 5/9/2006

Oscar: is a 6yr rough coat Male Saint Bernard. He is neutered, up-to-date on shots, and housebroken. He tested positive for Heartworm disease and he has started his treatment. We are hoping that he will pull through and he will be ready for a forever home in 8 weeks. He was surrendered by his owners because they weren’t taking very good care of him. He absolutely loves everyone! Oscar is good with kids and other dogs. He loves car rides and slices of chesse. Won’t you give this great guy a home for the holidays? 5/9/2006

Rebel: Is a 1 year old, full mask rough coat Saint Bernard. He currently weighs 131 lbs and is still filling out his body. Rebel came from a farm/ranch environment so he’s accustomed to being around cows, horses and other dogs. 5/8/2006

Beau: Beau was surrendered to rescue because his family started their own business and had no time for him. He’s a full mask, rough coat male that is a very submissive young boy. Beau loves to play with his rescue friends. Would you like to give Beau his forever home? He’s housebroken, has been neutered and microchipped. 5/8/2006

Harry: is a 6 yo smooth coated neutered male. This guy is a very laid back friendly guy. 5/8/2006

Montana: is a 1 1/2 yr old longhaired boy. He’s a very playful boy full of life. He’s not good with small children so would have to go to a home with kids over 10 yrs old. He’s ok with other female dogs but does play rough. He’s a lover boy who loves to give kisses. He’s housebroken and crate trained. He wants a permanent loving home to call he own and be someone’s loving companion. 5/6/2006

Chief: He turned five on April 12th. He weighs around 155 to 160lbs He is neutered and housebroken. He loves adults and kids. He gets along with all the neighbor dogs and sometimes likes to follow Kyra under the fence to go see the dogs. He does not like squirrels. I swear they sit at the top of the trees and tease him on purpose. He is up to date on all his shots and he really just likes to be around people he loves to be petted and just needs a home to give him all the love that he deserves. If he gets overworked by running too much he can be a little sore and needs to rest. He is a really good dog. He does not drool that much. Mostly just right after he takes a drink you should beware. He has never really been around cats. He does bark at the neighbor cats because they tease him on the other side of the fence. He loves to take walks but enjoys being inside with people. When it is too hot outside he would definitely prefer to be inside on the cool floor. He loves winter time though as long as it isn’t too cold. 5/5/2006

Kyra: She will turn five on December 26th, 2006. She weighs around 135lbs. She is neutered and housebroken. She loves adults and kids too. She gets along with the neighbor dogs as well. Her problem is she like to digs holes to go and see them and then have Chief follow her. She can be an escape artist too. She likes to climb the privacy fence or dig a hole. I am working with her with a underground fence. I believe they get bored with each other since they have always been with each other and want to go play with the other dogs. She chases squirrels too. She does drool though. Her and Chief do everything together. She is same way with cats too. She loves to be around humans too. Sometimes I think she is a human the way she get in and out of things. 5/5/2006

Ross: 2 yr. old long haired male. Very smart and obedience trained. Does NOT like other animals. Needs an experienced handler. Very loving, but extremely intelligent. No small children. 5/5/2006

WHOPPER: Hello, My name is Whopper and I am a purebred, XL (140 lbs and I need weight), smooth coat, housebroken, saintly Saint. I like to play with other dogs, children, rope toys, I know “Sit”, and have some leash training. My ideal new home would have a nice yard, a stockpile of dog food and treats (Luv my chow!), some pleasant and affectionate human dog lovers. I would also be willing to share the affection, chow, and great yard, with some four-legged companions. Since Whooper is such a large strong Saint, large breed experienced applicants are preferred. Whopper naturally gravitates toward the company of men, so a male dominated household would be ideal. Whopper is has been neutered, vaccinated, and is on monthly heart-worm preventative and flea preventative. 5/2/2006

CHARLIE: Hello, My name is Charlie and I am looking for a permanent new family to share slobbery kisses with and to call my own. I am something of a Jock, and love to watch Football, Basketball (Go Duke!), Animal Planet, and Lassie. I like to beg for head rubs, love treats, playing tug-o-war, am real chow hound, like to coax the peanut butter from my Kong toy, and I collapse on the floor head first (Yeah, I do that What’s the big deal?). I am working on my leash training, house manners, and hope to be a “Polished” boy soon. Charlie is a 2-3 year old (Vet est) pure bred Saint. He is a big boy in need of additional training so a home with children over 10 is a must. Charlie is excellent with other dogs, cats, and is crate trained. 5/2/2006

MONSTER: Hello, My name is Monster and I am an 7 month old pure-bred puppy. I am already 100 lbs and will be a monster/enormous Saint when full grown. I already know some basic commands, am quite good on a leash, and I am crate trained. I like people, other dogs, and people food. A vicious rumor is circling that I will steal unattended people food (True). I really like to play rough so a home with children over 10 is a must and a large breed and/or training experienced applicant preferred. I am neutered, vaccinated, on Frontline, and monthly heart-worm preventative. 5/2/2006

Macy & Fats: These two very sweet dogs came to us after their owners moved and abandoned them in their home. Mom and pup survived by eating the remaining dog food and garbage in the home. Animal control was called to the home what is suspected to be nearly 3 weeks after abandonment. They were infested with fleas and had severe skin infections. They had been starved and were underweight. They were scalded by their own urine and feces. Today with the help of veterinary care and the dedication of the ISBR volunteers, Fats and Macy are in great health and look amazing! They are probably the two nicest Saints you will ever meet! Macy is 5 years old and Fats is 12 months. They are awaiting placement and would love to find a home where they can live together. 5/2/2006

Nellie: is a 3 yo spayed female rough coat. This gal has quickly won our hearts. She is the sweetest, happiest female we’ve had in a long time. Considering her past of being chained out w/ no shelter and very little attention, she is an exceptional dog. 4/30/2006

Buck: two yr old long haired Saint. He loves to spend time with his family, go for walks and car rides. He loves kids and cats. Likes most dogs, but not very dominant dogs. When Buck was six months old he tore his knee on the right hind leg. He has had two unsuccessful surgeries. He gets around pretty good and takes Vit. C and glucosamine for this. He is an inside dog and is housetrained. Buck is a very loving dog and would make a great companion for anyone who wants to give him their time and attention. 4/30/2006

ROXY is a a 20-month-old purebred rough coat female, who will be spayed prior to placement. Roxy and her sister Powder were turned into rescue after their owner considered their options. You see they had originally purchased these girls from a breeder in order to breed. Then the family were faced with having to move to another location. Coupled with the realization of the responsibility that breeding would entail and the impending move, we were called to assist. Roxy has the beautiful black mask and splash coat. She is very loving and affectionate. Roxy is the more outgoing of the two and sometimes pushes her sister back so that she can get all of the attention. While it would be great to be able to place these girls together, we will consider all placements, even if it means the girls are separated. Roxy traveled well in the car and actually sat between the two front seats so she could watch and occasionally give the right side of my face kisses while driving. Roxy and Powder have lived mainly in outside, but had access to the inside. Seems they would be found lying on the back deck rather than being inside. 4/30/2006

POWDER: & Roxy: named for her white face after her owner had watched the movie “Powder.” Powder is a 20-month-old rough coat female, who will be spayed prior to placement. Powder and her sister Roxy came into rescue after their owner felt breeding them would not be a good idea after all. Not to mention the family was going to have to move and finding rental property that will allow two extra large dogs is difficult. Powder is a great girl who waits patiently while her sister hogs all of the attention. She loves the attention too. Powder and Roxy lived mainly outside with access into the house, but seemed to prefer the outdoors. Both girls traveled well in the car. 4/30/2006

KODO: is estimated to be about 2 years old. He is a rough-coat male who weighs in at around 90 lbs., & will fill out some more before he is done growing. Kodo is neutered, current on shots & has been heartworm tested. He is good with cats & other dogs. He wants attention, but will settle down quickly. Kodo came to us from a shelter in MD. He could use some leash training, but he has real good house manners. Kodo sleeps all night & is good during the day. Kodo would probably do best in a home with older children. He also really enjoys playing with dogs, so he would make a great buddy for someone who already has another dog in the household. Kodo is only interested in pleasing his family. He loves getting attention & thinks he is a lap dog! If he is the dog for your family, please contact us! 4/28/2006

THEO: “Big Theo” is a sweet 3-year old rough-coat male. He is completely housebroken and has mastered basic commands, including sit, lay down, go to your bed and he gives the best “paw” in town. Theo is very loveable, extremely smart, eager to please and is happiest snuggling by your side. Theo’s family loves him very much, but is expecting a baby and feels it would be best if he goes to a home with no children. His family is heartbroken they have to give him up. Theo currently lives with another dog (a black lab) and they are great companions. Theo is a dominant male. He gets along well with smaller dogs or females. He get’s along with other male dogs as long as they are a submissive. Theo loves to go for short walks (he tires out quickly!), play tug of war, eat lots of treats, and take relaxing baths. Theo weighs about 130 lbs and has been neutered, is on a monthly heartworm medication, and is up to date on all his vaccinations. If Theo sounds like a good match for you , please contact us!4/28/2006

Granada: is an approximately 18 month old longhaired, neutered male. He is a well-behaved, sweet and gentle big boy. He loves everyone and has been known to visit the local elementary school on occasion. Granada is looking for a new family who will allow him to be a valuable family member. He will make a wonderful addition to his new family. 4/25/2006

Penny: is a 4 year old short hair and very small for a Saint no matter how hard we try to put weight on her (110 pounds). She is spayed, housebroken and gets along with children and other dogs of either sex. She doesn’t mind cats, but may have to be taught they do not like to be chased. Penny came to a shelter with a torn ACL; surgery was performed on her limping right knee in January and she has recovered nicely. She still limps and may need medicine but she loves to run and play. Her previous owners left her alone for long periods of time, so she is very insecure and will cower and stay with you wherever you go in the house. She would do fine outside some, but she has spent enough time alone and now needs a forever home with people who can giver her LOTs of attention right next to you on the couch. 4/24/2006

Petey: is an approximately 14-week-old Saint Mix puppy. He has had his shots, been neutered and placed on heartworm and flea preventative. Petey and his mom were found as strays. Attempts were made to locate their owners, but. Petey’s mom has found her forever home, but he’s still looking. He is a wonderful puppy so full of life. Petey is almost housebroken. Puppies do sometimes forget. He is also crate trained. Petey gets along great with others – small or large. He walks well on a leash, but still needs some work. An obedience class would be great for him. 4/15/2006

Nitro: Look at me, I am just ready to prance and run like the wind. Nitro is a 2 year male ready to go to a home that will let him sleep in their bedroom. His favorite job is to greet all the people that come thru the door. He is okay with other dogs and loves people. 4/15/2006

Duncan: This 3 year old tall drink of water came to us after his owners left him in a shelter and moved away. He was quite depressed and confused but is doing better everyday! He is great with children and other dogs. He is a real sweetie who deserves a “forever home”. 4/14/2006

Howie: Howie’s family moved away and left him behind. Now he needs to find a new forever home. He is a sweet 1 year old. Very smart, learning new things everyday. He is great with other dogs, cats, and children. How about giving Howie the home he deserves? 4/14/2006

Pete: This very sweet 3 year old came to us from an Illinois Shelter after he was removed from his home by animal control. He was tied out with a chain with no shelter or food or water. His nose was eaten by flies and he is very thin. After all of this he still loves people, cats, and other dogs. He is very sweet but needs TLC. Won’t you give Pete a second chance at a real life? 4/14/2006

Kelly: is a 7 month old full masked rough coat female. She is friendly, outgoing and playful. She gets along well with kids, dogs and cats. She is house trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. She has good puppy manners in the house and has not chewed or displayed any destructive tendencies. She knows basic obedience commands, sit, lay and crate. Kelly loves attention, being groomed and likes playing with the other saints. She is spayed, up to date on shots and is on heartworm and flea preventative. 4/12/2006

Bigfoot: is 18 months old. He has all his shots but still has to be neutered. He is heartworm negative. He is very gentle and wants to rest his head in your lap. 4/12/2006

Jed: 10 month old rough coated male. Came to rescue from a shelter. He was turned in by his breeder when he could not be sold and the breeder needed room for the new spring litters. Since he has lived his whole life in a kennel, Jed is learning to be a house dog. He is crate trained and mostly house trained. He will chew a shoe if he can get it so a home with supervision and appropriate toys is a must. Jed is great with the other dogs and loves to wrestle with the kids. He will need a home with kids over 7 yrs old due to his size and activity level. Jed will need to go to obedience school and will need an owner willing to take him out into the world and teach him that it is a great place to be. 4/12/2006

Ironsides is a 2-3 year old male that has just a very sweet laid back temperament. All he wants to do is wrap himself around you and never let you out of his sight. He is okay with other dogs. He is neutered and current on his shots. 4/8/2006

CHARLIE: is 1-1/2 years old, neutered, vaccinated, and HW-negative. He’s housetrained and does well with most other dogs. We’re not sure how he will do with cats. He’s a sweet fellow who has lots of puppy enthusiasm but doesn’t seem to know his own size. (He’s VERY good at stepping on your toes, but only when you’re not wearing shoes.) Charlie will do well in a home where the family will respect his size and energy level. He will need a fenced yard, and children over age 10 or so. Saint- or giant-breed-experience will be a definite plus. 4/6/2006

Maggie: is a 2yr Rough/Splash Coat Female Saint Bernard. She is scheduled to be spayed, up-to-date on shots, and started on heartworm, flea and tick preventative medicine. She is potty trained, trusted in the house and good on a leash. She knows basic commands. She is a playful girl but she is very well behaved when she is supposed to be. She is great with children, dogs and cats. She has lived with Linus for the last two years. She would do best with another four legged friend t o play with. Maggie would love to find a forever home. 4/5/2006

Zoey: is a 5 – 6yr old Rough Coat Female Saint Bernard. She lived indoors until the her previous owners decide to build an addition on their house. Unfortunately, at that time, they decided that there was no room for Zoey in the larger house and moved her outside. Not surprisingly, Zoey didn’t understand the move and wasn’t happy about it. A week before Christmas, Zoey’s family dropped her off at the local shelter. Her fur was badly matted, coarse and dull. After weeks of brushing, trimming/removing the mats and good quality diet, Zoey is starting to look like the beautiful saint she deserves to be. She is doing GREAT in foster care. She is completely housebroken, knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. Although she enjoys short walks, she really just wants to spend time snoozing on her padded bed and being around people. 4/5/2006

Freckles: 2 year old rough female. Came to rescue after she was seized by animal control for neglect. Freckles is everyone’s friend and doesn’t know a stranger. She is house and crate trained but will need an owner willing to take her to obedience classes. 4/5/2006

Legs: (Molly to her foster family) is a wonderful 3/4 St. Bernard/hound mix (approx. 18 mo. old) who was rescued from the county shelter very thin and heartworm positive. She has two more weeks of crate rest/leash walking before she is through with her heartworm treatment (she can go out and play with the rest of the dogs 4/16). She is housebroken, crate trained and well mannered. Although she would benefit from obedience training, she doesn’t pull badly while on leash and would be an ideal addition to any family. She does well with all our other dogs and is fairly cat friendly, although she is a bit too enthusiastic with her interest of our cats. 4/3/2006

Sebastian: cute, sweet and playful, Sebastian is 14 months old and loves other dogs and meeting new people. He still has puppy in him and needs to continue his basic obedience training (which he is receiving in his foster home) to be better on a leash and not jump up. Neutered, shots, microchip 4/1/2006

Baloo: who could resist this face? Baloo is a five year old male smoothcoat who was rescued from a shelter in Bullhead City, AZ. He gets along with other dogs and loves all people. Baloo is a big, lovable Saintly boy! Neutered, shots, microchip 4/1/2006

St. Louie: is about 18 months of age. A rough coat. He has lots of curly, fluffy fur. When he came to rescue, he was terrified of children and being out in the open. He has made great progress and is much better now, but he prefers to have other dogs around for backup. He gets along well with other dogs. It takes him some time to get used to new environments. 3/28/2006

Baby Angel: as we call her, Angel for short, is a 7 month old spayed female, who is looking for a home of her own. Angel was turned over to Saint Rescue by her previous owners. This little girl loves to play especially with her ball. She does well with children of all ages and is very anxious to please. She is a confident lady and would not do well with other females. Has had some obedience. Does have a flea allergy so if her new family lives where there are fleas, she must be kept on Frontline or similar product. Lucy would make a wonderful addition to any family. A very nice dog. 3/26/2006

Chloe Noel: 8 year old female. Came to rescue when her owners got divorced. For her age, Chloe is very active. She lives to play tug-o-war and is quite vocal about it. She will need someone who is experienced with vocal giants (not afraid of the growly noises) to play with her. Chloe is in great shape, she is house and crate trained. She knows most of her obedience commands and loves to cuddle on the couch. She is looking for a retirement home where she can spend the rest of her days comfortably growing old. 3/25/2006

Bradley: 5 year old male. Came to rescue from animal control. Previous owners didn’t want him anymore. He is crate and house trained. Lives to please. Great with other dogs and kids. Bradley is looking for a family that will take him on walks, watch his diet as he tends to be fat and spend most of their time cuddling with him. 3/25/2006

Elara: 5 yr old female. Rough coat. Came to rescue because she did not get along with the other female dog in the house. Elara is very mellow, completely trained and non destructive. She is a little shy when she first meets people but once she has bonded, she is very loving. Elara would do best in a laid back home where she is the only dog but could also live in a home with another male dog. With time, we believe that she would eventually begin to play with a boy dog. 3/25/2006

MAGGIE #2: came to us with a foot injury that occurred when a cable became wrapped around her ankle. Her family could not afford the veterinary care necessary to fix her foot and to treat her heartworm disease. She’s been with us for a while and we’ve dealt with her medical problems. She was spayed, vaccinated, and groomed. She has put on weight . Once she was feeling better her sweet personality emerged and now she’s ready to bring joy into the lives of a lucky family. We’d like her to be the family’s only dog. And no cats please! (She thinks they were put on this earth to give her something to chase.] If you have a fenced yard and lots of love to give, please think about opening your home to Miss Maggie. You’ll get it back a hundredfold. 3/25/2006

PRINCESS 2: is a darling two-year-old roughcoat female who came into Rescue when her family moved to an apartment where dogs aren’t allowed. She is spayed, housetrained, vaccinated and heartworm-negative. Prinny does well with most male dogs but isn’t so crazy about females. She’s quite playful with cats and loves to chase them (which doesn’t thrill the cats). She has been with children young and old. Prin is an affectionate little lady who gives kisses and loves to lick ears. She’s not a bad drooler but she snores like a freight train. We would prefer a fenced yard for Prin. Saint experience would be a plus. 3/6/2006

BRUTUS: is a 7 year old rough-coat male. He weighs in at a mere 135 lbs. at the moment, but could use to gain at least another 30+ lbs. Brutus is current on all shots , heartworm negative & has been neutered. Brutus came to be rescued by way of a veterinarian. The owners had brought him in to be euthanized because he had belonged to the woman’s ex-boyfriend & the kids no longer paid attention to him, plus they had just gotten a new puppy. Brutus was obviously a neglect case indeed. He was filthy, kept outside on a concrete porch….which they only hosed off once a week to get rid of the feces. Brutus was skin & bones & could barely walk. He only weighed 118 lbs then. Despite his obvious neglectful history, Brutus is a very loveable & friendly boy. The vet thought that it was a very heartless decision & was quite disgusted with the owners, so she asked them to legally sign the dog over to her. She has slowly nursed him back to health over the past month or so. He obviously needs to gain more weight, but otherwise seems to be a very happy, healthy boy. Brutus is well mannered & walks very well on a leash. He has never barked & is great with the other dogs, even the small ones. Brutus seems very interested in cats, so it would be best for him to go to a home without them. He’s great with kids, men & women alike. Brutus is also house-trained. Right now, Brutus is living at the vet clinic & is receiving lots of love & attention there. If you feel that you are the family for him, please contact us immediately, so we can get Brutus into his own loving home! 3/1/2006

CHEWY & ISABELLE: are a 2 year old brother/sister pair. They are both rough-coat Saints. Chewy has a half-mask & Isabelle has a full-mask. Chewy weighs in at 152 lbs. & Isabelle is at 100 lbs. right now. They are still growing & should fill out some more. These two came into rescue from a MD shelter. The owner had heart problems & could no longer take care of them properly. The shelter called us immediately after the dogs arrived. These two are current on all their shots, heartworm negative & have already been spayed and neutered. Chewy & Isabelle are good with other dogs & are great with people. They are a very happy, friendly pair. They both enjoy lots of attention & belly rubs too. They walk well on a leash, ride good in the car, & are already housebroken & crate trained. These dogs are really bonded to each other, so our first choice is to adopt them out together. If you feel that you have a big space in your heart for these two, please contact us immediately! 3/1/2006

BAXTER: BEATRICE: BERNICE: BONNIE: & BORIS: are 8 week old Saint Mix puppies. Mom is a Saint, God only knows who the dad was. The people did not want the pups, so they dropped them off at the shelter when they were 5 weeks old. They are all current on their shots , have been wormed, & will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. This crew is a happy handful & have brought much joy to their foster home! They are crate trained & we are working on the housebreaking, of course. They absolutely LOVE playing with their stuffed toys. These pups are good with everything dogs, cats & children. If you feel that your family is a good match for one of these sweethearts, please contact us quickly! 3/1/2006

Elsie: this cutie is an 18 month old female St. Bernard who was placed in August, but the family female German Shepherd wasn’t crazy about her, so Elsie is back in Rescue looking for a new loving home. Elsie is very friendly, knows some obedience and does get along with other dogs. However, she is no pushover, and would probably do best in a home with a male dog, or submissive female. Spayed, shots, microchip 2/28/2006

Jorga: Sweet Jorga is a 10 month old female longhaired St. Bernard who finds herself in Rescue because a family member had allergies to dogs. Jorga gets along with other dogs, and even cats. She is a loving girl who knows some basic obedience, as well. Spayed, shots, microchip 2/28/2006

Big Red: is a two-year-old Smooth-coat, spayed female, who weighs 121 pounds, and is looking for a family of her own. She is housebroken. She does excellent on a lead and gets along well with all other animals. She has been a true joy while she has been in rescue. The humane society that called us to see if we could help absolutely adored her. The history that the humane society gave us is that she was turned in after her prior “owner” only had her for one day. Supposedly she did not get along with their two-year-old toddler. While Big Red has been a perfect lady around all children that we have met (both with rescue and the humane society), we will not place her with small children just as a precaution. Big Red is the name that she came to the shelter with. Big Red does have a leg injury that will take some time to heal. We were told that she was kicked by a horse. She has been seen and evaluated by two vets for this injury. It will heal, it is still tender at times for her, and she will probably develop arthritis in her knee (right rear) as she ages. We have started her on Glucosamine/Chondroitin to possibly ease some of those issues. Big Red is up-to-date on her shots, rabies and flea and heartworm prevention. Traveling in the car is great fun and she loves to sit with her head between the front seats and watch as we go anywhere. Going to the park for walks is great fun. If you would like to meet this wonderful girl, please contact us so that “Big Red” can check her busy social calendar!! 2/28/2006

Brutus: Hi there, me name is Brutus and here is my story. I am a 12-16 month old pure-bred rough coat Saint Bernard. I was picked up by a local animal control and my owner’s decided not to pick me up! I can’t understand why because I am a goofy guy and I have a lot of love to give. I weigh around 130# right now and could stand to gain a few more. I am very outgoing and if you find just the right spot on my chest I will thump my back leg for days! They tell me that I could use some training so Saint Rescue says that obediance classes are a must. I don’t really think that my previous owners spent too much time helping me learn, but I am sure that my next family will do just that! It seems like I like other dogs, and right now I am being fostered with a family who has livestock, horses, and other dogs both small ones and big ones, so I think I should be pretty well socialized by the time I find my forever family. I don’t think that I was really well taken care of before because they say I am matted, have ear infections, and LOTS of fleas. But not to worry, these nice people at Saint Rescue are going to take care of all of this! Won’t you be my new family? Contact Trina at Saint Rescue 1/27/2006

Chloe: is a 12-16 month old Saint Bernard who was picked up by a local animal control. Chloe currently weighs around 90# and needs to gain 10-20 more. Chloe is a pure-bred rough coat Saint Bernard. Chloe was not well taken care of by her previous owners, she came to us flea infested with a coarse coat and is missing hair in some places. It appears that she may have been attacked by another dog as she has an ear injury that has already started healing and several other small bite wounds. Chloe also has ear infections which are now being treated. Chloe does not appear to have any issues with food and depsite her rough past, seems to get along well with other dogs. Chloe likes nothing more than to curl up to you as close as she can as this likely makes her feel safe. Chloe is very submissive, she’s sweet, mellow, and thrives on attention and strokes. Chloe is also being fostered in a home with livestock and another Saint so she should be adjusted to these things prior to adoption. 1/27/2006

Anya: is a 3.5 years old spayed female St Bernard. She is on the smallish size for the breed, with medium length coat. This girl is incredibly smart, sweet, gentle and calm despite a rough life of abuse, neglect and multiple owners. She is house broken, great on leash, loves car rides (stays in her spot in the back) knows her name, stay & go lay down. She loves kids and cats (if only they would let her get a better sniff!) She isn’t crazy about other dogs; they make her a bit nervous. But she tolerates them as long as they don’t get in her face and get aggressive with her. Anya would do best in a home with calm gentle owners and lots of positive reinforcement, a securely fenced yard, kids to cuddle her and a warm spot to sleep next to her owner’s bed. She needs some retraining to work around her fears and help her have more fun. But for the most part she’s a super easy dog who is a joy to have around and impossible not to love. If you’re looking for a great teddy bear to cuddle she’s your dog! 1/17/2006

Sydney will need 6 ft privacy fencing since she can/will jump a 4 ft chain link. 1/17/2006

Hooch: 18 month old male. Rough coat. Came to rescue after he was turned into the shelter for being too big. Hooch still has a puppy mentality and doesn’t realize his size. BRANDY: is an 18 month old (estimated by vet) rough-coat female. She weighs in at 85 lbs. & should top out at about 100 lbs. Brandy is spayed, current on shots, & has been heartworm tested. She is housebroken & walks pretty well on a leash, unless something catches her attention, then she will pull some. We believe that Brandy will do fine with other dogs , & is good with cats. Brandy would do best in a home with a fence, because she loves to run circles in the yard! She would also do well if she had another dog, around her size, to rough-house with, because she is a hard player, & a vocal player too. Brandy is very puppyish & is also very people oriented. She is starved for affection & loves to receive belly rubs. Brandy truly believes she is a lap dog, a couch dog, & even a bed dog too! She will curl up right next to you, without a thought! Brandy knows “Sit”, but would benefit from some basic obedience training. We prefer Brandy to go to a home that does not have small children. She would probably do well with children 12 years & older, just because she likes to play rough. Brandy has a very sweet & curious personality. Could you be the home for her? 1/12/2006

She seems fine around other dogs, but we do not know how she is around cats. As part of her bonding, Jenny becomes very protective, so the entire family needs to be present when she comes home. Emma: is a 14 month old pure bred female Saint. Emma is happy, gentle, affectionate, snuggly, and eager to please. Emma likes children, dogs, toys, belly rubs, and lots of food. Emma is crate trained and almost completely housebroken. Since she is still a puppy, she will occasionally chew when left unattended. Emma will need some work with some of her basic commands and learning that she is vital and loved. Her former home must have been unkind… she is frightened when voices are raised. Emma is spayed, current on vaccines, on Frontline, and monthly heart worm preventative. Hurry, this gorgeous angel will not last long. 1/6/2006

He is negative for heartworm and neutered. He will be updated on his shots when he is stronger. He is a gentle sole but does like to play with his foster brother St Bernard out in the yard, running. He also gets along with cats. He seems to be the “gentle giant” that made the St’s famous for that title. 1/2/2006

Sam: 4 yr old rough coated male. Picked up by animal control as a stray. He is good with other dogs but not good with cats or bunnies. He can jump a 4 ft fence so will need 6 ft privacy fencing. He is house and crate trained. He will need obedience training. 1/2/2006
