She is our "jail break" instigator at the Rescate Hacienda. She decides when the dogs needs to go for a run. She is an extremely smart dog. We are so lucky! 12/31/2002 Mongo: is an unaltered,153 pound male saint Bernard that is heartworm and lyme positive. He has also tested positive for hookworm and coxcidia. His front legs and elbows are full of water due to laying on cement all the time. He is thought to be 3 years old and whom we have found to be very friendly with people and other dogs. When Mongo was found, as a stray, his coat was so matted that the shelter workers thought he weight 300 pound. He is just big enough to be able to put his chin on the counter to watch you make your dinner. He has a look on his face like "where is mine?" Tank has been an indoor kid all his life and is just the most pleasant young man to be around. Some of his strong attribute are; very good manners, waits his turn and sits by the door when its time to potty. Tank will be a very big boy when he is full grown so expect 160# or so. Did we mention……….he likes to sleep. Tank will be altered in early January. 12/15/2002
BELLA:
This sweet girl was dropped of at a local shelter because her humans were moving
and couldn't take her along. She is a 9 month old mahogany and white short
hair female. Bella is just a bundle of energy and needs a home who can spend
time with her. She will be spayed at time of adoption and is current with
all her shots. If your looking for a true Saint Bernard this is the girl for
you. Bella is an inside saint. She weights 115# and lives in Seattle. 12/15/2002
Claude: is a 3 year old saint mix. He walks
well on a leash and is house trained. He can be a bit food aggressive with other
dogs so it would be best to have him as the only pet. He likes cats and dogs and
loves to meet and greet people. 12/12/2002
Guido: 3-4 year old longhaired male. Just a very
sweet guy looking to become part of a family of his very own. Guido was picked
up as a stray, so we do not have much background information on him, however, he
has adjusted well and has displayed that typical Saintly temperament that we all
expect! He will make a great addition to a loving family. 12/12/2002 SALLY: is a delightful, sweet one year old female.
She was recently spayed, is up to date on shots and is heartworm-negative. She
is housetrained. A tiny girl at only 85 pounds, she has small bones and will
probably remain a little peanut even when full-grown. Sally has had some
obedience training and seems quite eager to please. 12/11/2002
Abigail: (we call her Abby) Vet states between 8 and
18 months. Her rabies tag states 9 mos. 3 days. Her Weight as of one week ago
was 86.5 pounds. She has eaten 40 lbs of dog food this week. She was really
starved and is now leaving food in her bowl. I think she's finally getting full.
I know she's gained but don't know how much to date. We should her spayed as
soon as she is up to it. She was negative for heart worms. She is current on her
shots as of Sept 5, 2002She is an outdoor dog. She has been in the house for
short periods of time. Have had no problems with her then. Her foster home lives
on 12 acres. They don't have a regular fence, just pasture fencing. As for
housebroken , She's never been inside for more than an hour. But that was not a
problem. We do not know yet if her hair is Long or short. Its just starting to
grow back. The vet said it will start to grow good three weeks after treatment.
She was a Stray or dumped living on the streets with all of the parasites
feeding on her. No she loves everyone she meets. Abby is not dog aggressive to
my knowledge . As for cats she smelled our basket of kittens and walked away as
for larger cats ,She's chased them, but hasn't hurt them. Vet said she's
healthy. She had scabies from all of her insect bites which are healing nicely
and her hair has started to grow back nicely. Her habits are ,Barks when you
leave after petting her. She gets Excited by squawking chickens. Chase's them
just to hear them but does not hurt them. Very funny really.. Her current dog
food is Ole Ruff High-Fat 26% 18% fat dog food on now. This little sweet heart
that has had a very hard start in life , she was starved and still does not have
a mean bone in her body. She needs a loving home with lots of love. She is
located with in 50 miles East of Fort Smith AR. on the Oklahoma side. Adopted by
Sharon Elder Arkansas Rescue. UPDATE; AS OF 11/23/02 Yes, Abby was spayed
a couple of months ago. She is up to date on shots. She's still doing very well.
I did the spray her in the face and no command thing with the water bottle and
she is not jumping up on me now. She is a quick learner. Yesterday she tried to
play with the GrPyrneese again. They ran together for a while, then the female
Pyr got her tail feathers in a ruckus and became aggressive towards Abby. Abby
just looked at her as if to say, 'Gee, you're grumpy' and turned around and did
something else. I was so proud of her. Also, when she was loose I had forgotten
and left my 7 lb pom outside. She didn't hassle her either. It was just a race
to see who could get in the house the fastest. LOL Still in the house for short
periods. Still no accidents. So she maybe housebroken and I just did not know
it. She didn't chase the cats yesterday either, or the chickens. Ears are
fine...Nails have been clipped by the vet. Doing very well with sit command.
Walking so-so on the leash after a couple of minutes. Moved her over to the side
of the house so she can see inside the windows. No barking or anything, just
when strangers, like the electric guy, or UPS guy comes. She would really like
to be at her forever home by the Holidays. 12/11/2002
Sydney: 11 month old long hair male. Very sweet, good with kids.

I am up to date on all my shots and will be neutered next week. When I was at the other shelter I was bitten by fleas and no one knew I was allergic to them. I feel so much better now! I love other dogs and cats are OK too. Although I think the cats are fun to chase! But I would never hurt them. I love everyone! But my most favorite are the children. They just make me so happy. neutered longhaired male. He is up to date on all shots, heartworm negative and

obedience training, he would do best with a giant-breed-experienced family who

looking for stability. Because of his size, strength and energy level, we would
prefer to see him with OLDER children. He seems to be friendly with other dogs.

You can tell when you meet her she just wants to be your warm loving friend. She came to us with mats and road tar in her fur. 11/18/2002 Riley: Hi, my name is Riley and I am an 18-month-old Saint who loves to cuddle and give kisses. I love children, but my foster family feels that I would be best suited for a family with children over the age of 8. I am working on not jumping up on people when I get excited. My foster family says that obedience training will be a mandatory condition for my adoption. I still have a lot of puppy behaviors, but am very willing to please. If you are looking for an affectionate, good looking boy and have a fenced yard for me to play in, please fill out an application today. Adoption fee; $250 11/17/2002

Just happy to be here and have love and attention. Winston weighs 141 lbs and is very under weight. He is a gentle giant. 11/12/2002 Willis: is a very handsome young longhaired male who was abandoned at a marina on a local lake. Fortunately, he wandered onto the property of a caring retired couple, who contacted Saint Rescue. He has now been neutered, vaccinated and tested (negative!!!) for heartworms. Willis is just a big 'ol goofy puppy - the vet thinks that he's 16 months old at the very most. He seems to get along with everybody and everything! Willis has been starved for attention, so he's a bit of a handful, but he doesn't have a mean bone in him. He will be a wonderful, loving addition to some lucky family. 11/11/2002 SAMANTHA 5: Samantha comes into Rescue because of family allergies. She is approximately 4 years old, longhaired, spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, housetrained, and just as sweet and gentle as can be. She's fine with other dogs (unknown with cats). This beautiful tri color female is sporting a very nice full mask, and is just bubbling with energy. She has grown used to living in the house and prefers this. She loves everyone she meets, walks well on the lead, & enjoys going for rides. Sammie is a smaller bred Saint, but has a really big heart! She also enjoys just being a couch potato! Sammie gets along great with other dogs & children. She has not been exposed to cats, but we think that she will do great. Sammie will make a great addition to someone's family! 11/4/2002 DRAKE: is an 11 month old rough-coat male. He weighs in at around 70 lbs. & is still growing! Drake is neutered, up to date on all his shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. He is housebroken & crate trained. Drake is great with other dogs & cats. He is good with children, but does not realize his size, & may tend to knock younger ones over. This boy is VERY puppyish & is starving for affection. Drake needs lots of attention & loves to lean up against you! He needs some basic obedience, because he is all puppy. He loves to go between your legs to get your attention. Drake has the same type of hip problem as "Smokey". The vet recommends Drake to be on medication indefinitely. He also needs to be on 1500 mg. of Glucosamine & Condroitin per day. Plus he will also have to get regular exercise & take 800 mg. of Vitamin E to tone up the muscles in that leg. Drake is in NO pain & should do well indefinitely on these medications & regular exercise, as long as he is NOT allowed to get over-weight. Drake loves to play & is very willing to please. He will make a great addition to someone's family. 11/4/2002 Brutus: 3-year-old shorthaired male, neutered, very sweet. No training but responds very well on leash (with a buckle collar). Came in with Cleo and loves her dearly. Ideally would like to place these two dogs together, but would consider single adoption. 11/4/2002 Abby: is a 3 year old beautiful rough coated girl. She is a very large Saint. Weighs 149.5. Due to her size Children should be at least 10 years old. Abby wants to love a family that will give her special attention and rub her belly. She is good with other male dogs. She will be available for adoption on October 15th. She is spayed and current on all her shot. Adoption fee $200. 11/4/2002 Kitten: 7 yr old long haired male. He's very loving and good with kids. He's been an only dog but has been with other dogs occasionally and it fine with them. Owner's new wife is allergic and he can't have him at his house. 11/4/2002 Zachary: Last week it was brought to my attention that there was a Saint in need in Rockford, Illinois. Wisconsin Rescue was contacted by a couple that had a 3 year old male/intact that suffered from a severe flea infestation. They stated that they did not have the money to deal with the problem and subsequently he was living outside because he was scratching himself raw and bleeding in their home. Jan had suggested to myself and the Foundation to possibly help fund his treatment and allow him to remain in the home where he was loved so he would not have to be relinquished to Saint Bernard Rescue. After speaking with the owners, it was determined by myself and the owners that Zachary would be better off being relinquished to rescue after all. What I found in their home will anger and amaze you. Zachary was lying on the living room floor barely alive. He was so badly infested with fleas that they had caused such a profound anemia that he no longer had the energy to survive. He was helped to his feet and sprayed heavily with flea spray and placed in my car. His limbs were swollen with edema (fluid), he had not eaten in weeks, thus his 70 pound frame and rib and hip bone exposure, he had open pressure wounds on his hips, he had open wounds on his ears, he has little to no hair on the lower half of his body and tail, he has large ulcers in his mouth from malnutrition, and he has severe diarrhea. I sped all the way from Rockford to my animal hospital in hopes I would make it there in time. He was immediately placed on an IV, bathed, and started on Doxycycline, an antibiotic that treats Tick Borne Diseases. We have sent out preliminary blood work that indicates a severe anemia and a severe infection. His limbs and body are still swollen and we have sent out an Auto Immune Profile and Tick Serology to help us determine what is going on with him. He also is infected with whipworms, roundworms, and hookworms. There is no real answer whether or not Zachary will survive. I wanted to share this with all of you because we take the words of the owners so lightly that we believe the problem at hand is what they say. We believed that these owners were truly worried about the welfare of their dog with a perfectly treatable flea infestation. We were wrong. Many times we choose dogs in shelters over owner give ups because they are truly at risk of being destroyed. My advice is to investigate as much as you can about a situation. If I would have bumped Zachary for a dog in the shelter, Zachary would not be alive today. Please keep Zachary in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you to everyone that participated in the Yankee Candle Fundraiser. Those funds will be put towards Zachary's treatment and recovery. 11/3/2002 Olivia: 4-5 Year Old Female Rough Coat Olivia comes to us from the Orange County shelter. She is a big girl with nice markings. Olivia is rather large in the stomach area, soooo she's not starving but she was neglected as fas as dermatitis and scabs on her ears. Olivia has a hyper personality and pulls on the leash, but she is a good dog. She appears to be around 5 years old, but we're not positive. She rides great in the car and is great with the kids. We don't know how she is with other dogs or cats yet. Olivia has bad cherry eyes as you can barely see hers, so she is going to the vet to have that taken care of, along with her shots and wellness exam. If you would like to be a forever family to an older dog who has plenty of life left, please fill out an application so you can come and meet Olivia. 11/3/2002 Mitzi: 1-2 Year Old Female Rough Coat We don't know very much about Mitzi yet. She seems to do well with submissive dogs since she has a dominant personality, but she is bad with livestock. She seems to like children. If you would like to meet Mitzi, please fill out an application. 11/3/2002 Sassy: 4 Year Old Female Smooth Coat Sassy was turned into us by her owner, who moved from a house with a yard into an apartment. We don't know much about her other than she got along well with her littermate that the owner kept. Sassy was the alpha dog, so she might not get along with other dogs that are dominant. She also seems to be okay with children. We will let you know more as we get to know Sassy better. In the meantime, if you are interested in her, please fill out an application so that we can arrange for you to meet her. 11/3/2002 Sheba: 3 Year Old Female Rough Coat Sheba is a very sweet and young Saint who needs a loving home with people that will care for her. She came from a home where she had very little space to run around and enjoy herself. The family didn't have enough time to dedicate to her and as a result she had quite a bit of matted hair, but unlike many others that we rescue, Sheba at least has a nice, full belly. ;) Sheba is house-trained and has been in a family with small children and two very small dogs, so she should do fine with other small pets. Sheba has had some training and knows basic obedience, but could definitely use a brush up with her new forever family. Is that you? 11/3/2002 Murphy: 2 Yr Old Male Rough Coat Murphy is a beautiful, playful boy needing a forever home. His name was originally Frank and had been adopted by a couple who just recently divorced. His owner sadly turned him over to rescue due to the fact that he works 24 hour shifts at a time and cannot spend the quality time with Murphy that he deserves. Murphy has one blue eye and one brown eye and a cute hospice ear. He loves people and seems to be a man's dog and gets along great with kids. Murphy has some issues with other dogs and therefore will need to go to a home where he will be the only pet. He lays on his back for belly rubs and constantly offers his paw out to get your attention. Murphy is energetic and would benefit from some obedience classes. If you are interested in meeting Murphy please fill out an online application today and submit it. 11/3/2002 Noah: 12 Month Old Male Rough Coat Noah is a very good looking boy. He is big already and he is still young - only about 12 months old. He still plays and bounces around like a young pup. When he was picked up from the shelter up north, the staff ran him in their yard for 2 hours that morning and he still didn't sit down the entire trip to our rescue kennel. This one has a lot of energy. He is very sweet. Every time I would look back at him he would wag his tail. He definately needs obedience training and is very strong, but he knew "shake" and will let you hold his paw forever. Our staff is also working on "heel" and "stop", although he hasn't learned sit or down yet. Noah will be perfect for a family wanting a younger dog that they know they will have to take to training. He loves attention but needs a lot of training, so he is best in a family with no little children. We don't know how he is with other dogs as we haven't had time to socialize him yet. He pulls and wants to go towards them and seems to want to play, but again, we don't know for sure yet. Noah will be neutered and get his shots this week. If you think Noah is the dog for you, please fill out an application and we will contact you. 11/3/2002 Apollo: 1 Year Old Male Rough Coat Apollo was being fostered by a family that really wanted to keep him, but their male saint didn't like him so they kindly drove him 3 hrs to us and they cried all the way. They said he got along great with their kids, walked on a leash well and seemed to get along with a Pomeranian in the family and the neighbor's male pit mix. We don't know how he is with cats. Apollo is current on all shots and will be neutered this week. Are you his forever home? 11/3/2002
Nikki: 6 year old rough
coat is a beautiful and HUGE girl. She was turned in along with her son, Chance,
by their owner who was moving and could not find a place that would allow big
dogs. Nikki is spayed and will be up to date on her shots this week She gets
along well with humans, but she is aggressive to other dogs. We don't know if
she would actually bite or harm them, but she sure does bark at them. Amy: 3 Year Old Female Smooth Coat Amy is a sweetheart.... we think she recently had a litter of pups and was discarded. She is extremely thin, and in desperate need of love. She also had a tumor on her side removed (we are waiting for the biopsy results right now) and the full works at the vet. What a doll baby for being so neglected.... This sweet little girl walks well on a leash and seems to get along with other dogs, we will know more later. 11/3/2002 Ariel: 1 1/2 Year Old Female Albino Smooth Coat Ariel is a special
needs Saint Bernard. Ariel came into rescue from the Apple Valley shelter with
her mother Amy. Ariel was adopted out at the shelter and though the man fell in
love with her and said she was a great dog, she just couldn't seem to get along
with his cat. So he brought her back and we were fortunate enough to get her.
Ariel is a rare albino Saint Bernard and will need special attention in an
indoor only home. She is extremely sensitive to sunlight and will need to stay
out of the sun during peak hours. Ariel loves kids, has no aggressive tendencies
that we've seen, and loves AJ: 16 months old, LH male. Is house and crate trained, walks nicely on leash, gentle with the children in his foster home. OK with other dogs. Leaves the cat and bunny alone. 11/2/2002 Bailey: 11 mo old, long-haired male. Very sweet, good with kids and other dogs. Owners moved here from a 3 acre farm in Arkansas and he's not very happy now. They're only renting and he can't come into the house now. He's good with small children and other dogs and wants to be someone's couch potato. 10/31/2002 Governess: Or "Nessie" as we like to call her. She is a 2 year old female. Her previous owners gave her up to the shelter because the other dogs in the house were beating her up. She is very shy and timid. She loves people and gets along great with dogs and cats. Once she gets comfortable she makes herself at home. As you can see she is a regular couch potato. She is spayed, current on all vaccines, heartworm, and parasite free. If you are interested in helping this beauty come out of her shell, please contact Tammy. 10/31/2002 Candy: This 3 year old sweetie was rescued from being sold at a swap meet in Missouri. The shelter that rescued her could not financially support Candy because she is positive for heartworm disease. They contacted Illinois Saint Bernard Rescue and we were happy to lend a hand to help Candy. She will begin treatment shortly and will be ready for adoption in a couple of weeks. She is current on all of her vaccines and will be spayed following treatment. She is great with other dogs, kids, and cats. She is a little on the shy side but warms up quickly. If you are interested in giving Candy a second chance for happiness, please contact Tammy. 10/31/2002 Darwin: 4yr old, LH male, 120pds, shots, indoor, in home with female Pug and 5yr old boy, has some training. cuddle. I love other dogs, kids and car rides. I am up to date on
all shots, and preventatives. The vet said I am already spayed even though
its hard to see my scar. I am a fast learner and my foster parent's are

working on it and I am coming along great! Would you love me and make me a
family member forever? 10/28/2002 Annie: 3 year old female. Rough coat. House trained, obedience trained and crate trained. Very sweet. She is a major Velcro dog. This guy is big and goofy. He is super sweet and loves to sit on your feet while
you rub his head. He is house trained and knows most obedience. He does need

He has been neutered recently. He is very people friendly and loves to sit beside members of the family. He has however displayed some aggression towards other animals so would be best placed in a single pet family. He walks very well on a leash, a product of his show ring training. He is definitely an indoor dog. He gets very upset when he is left outside and tries to get back in which causes damage due to his size. 10/22/2002 MAX: is a 1 year & 9 month old smooth-coat male. We do not have a weight on him yet, but he is a VERY, VERY large dog, & will still fill out some more. Max is neutered, utd on all his shots and is on flea & heartworm preventative. her when he got all settled in - but that was over three months ago!! The
shelter was really overloaded with dogs - they had over 140 - when the City
Council met and decided that 70 dogs would be the maximum number allowed at that
facility. Uvalde got out of the shelter just in time! Amazingly, Uvalde was
heartworm negative. She's now had all her shots and has been spayed. She was
severely underweight - she only weighed 79 pounds when I got her - but she's up
to 92 pounds now! Uvalde runs and plays like an absolute puppy!! She gets along

It is possible he was abused by his male owner, who often used a water hose to discipline him. This can cause him to be difficult to bath. He can be an escape artist if he desires. Therefore he will need a strong fence. He should not be trusted around cats. He will need obedience training, as the only command he knows is "sit" which he executes and then immediately follows this by giving you his paw. 9/20/2002 Jack: AKA "Jumping Jack Flash" he is a middle aged neutered male. The neighbor's dog runs lose and will venture onto Jack's property. Jack does not like this, so the neighbor complains. This is a very loyal dog who does not like to be behind a fence or without his people. Jack is house-broken and will hold it for days, if it is raining. He is not dog aggressive if the dog lives there. He also does well with cats. Loves little girls. We hope to find Jack a great home. He will do ok in a house with a strong fence. He needs to be a house dog. Due to the fact he will get into trouble and wonder while you are at work or the store. Beau absolutely loves everyone that he meets!! He is a very playful guy, so he needs some space to release his energy. He loves to run around & play. Beau really likes to lean up against you, & rub his face all over you! He is a very personable guy. Beau will make a wonderful addition to anyone's family!! 9/3/2002 MIDNIGHT: Midnight is a 4 1/2 yr. old Chow. He is solid black. They just had him trimmed before they brought him to us. Up to date on all shots and heartworm negative. 9/3/2002 Buttercup: This gorgeous gal is just 8 months old! She is UTD on vaccines, heartworm, and parasite free. She is looking for a place that is safe that she can call her own. Won't you rescue her? Adoption fee is $250. Fenced in yard a must! Please contact Tammy for more information about this precious pup. 9/3/2002 Wilson:
12 month old VERY sweet boy! He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, parasite and
heartworm free. He gets along great with other dogs and cats. Wilson came from a
home with 3 small children. Although he was great with the children, his owners
felt he was too much of a puppy to handle. Wilson is looking for a "forever
home" where he can be a BIG puppy and be loved unconditionally. He is
housebroken and obedience trained. Won't you be his "Saint"??? Must
have a fenced in yard. $250 adoption fee. 9/3/2002

Taco is spayed, utd on all her shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. She is good with other dogs, cats and especially children. Taco is a VERY intelligent dog, and is quick to learn anything. She is very willing to please her family, & she is also housebroken & crate trained. Taco rides great in the car, & loves to run and play. She would be great for a family with lots of kids, who love to run & play outdoors! Taco is the type of dog who would love to have a job!! She would be a wonderful addition to someone's active family!! 9/3/2002 ATLANTA: is a 4 year old smooth-coat female. She is a smaller bred Saint and weighs in at 75 lbs. Atlanta is good with other dogs, cats, & children. She really enjoys people, & loves to be in the same room with her family. Atlanta is a very laid back, quiet dog. She is a bit shy, but just loves attention. Atlanta is also crate trained & housebroken. She will be a wonderful family companion! 9/3/2002 SIMBA: is an 11 month old rough-coat male. He weighs in at around 110lbs., & is still growing!! Simba is neutered, utd on all his shots, and on flea & heartworm preventative. He is being crate trained & housebroken while in rescue. Simba is good with other dogs, cats & LOVES CHILDREN! He rides well in a car & loves lots of attention. Simba needs some basic obedience training, but really wants to please his owner. He pulls on the leash a little, but once corrected walks fine. Simba will be a great addition to someone's family! 9/3/2002 BUDDY TOO: is a 3 year old rough-coat male. He weighs in at around 120lbs. Buddy is neutered, utd on all his shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. This boy is absolutely a wonderful dog!! He gets along great with other dogs, cats & children. Buddy is housebroken & crate trained. He rides well in the car, & walks well on a leash. Buddy is a very laid back, low key guy. He loves attention, & prefers to be close to his family. Buddy will follow you thru-out the house, just to be near you. He is a very loving dog. Buddy is a special needs dog. He has Epilepsy & needs to be on Phenobarbital twice a day. His medication will cost around $10.00 per month. Buddy will make someone a wonderful companion! 9/3/2002 Twinkie: is a 7 month old female rough coat. Twinkie came to us from the gambling capital of the world - Las Vegas. This high energy pup must have been up long nights playing slots because she needs to gain a lot of weight. She barks at other dogs and loves to play, but she is high strung and needs obedience training. In fact, it was really hard to get a clear picture of her because of her high energy. She's extremely thin but with that metabolism who can blame her! A family with kids, although not really small ones, would probably work best for this sweet and loving pup. 9/3/2002 Ventura: 2 Yr Old Male Rough Coat Ventura is quite a ball of love. He
is VERY sweet. He is a big boy, a little overweight I'd say. He has what seems
to be a
fatty cyst on his left hip, which is something that a vet normally will not
remove unless it bothers the dog, but we will have it checked out anyway,
just to make sure. He also has a raw wound on his nose, which may be
from another dog in a neighboring kennel. Ventura came to us with tiny mats of
hair all over, but after a good brush out and a nice bath, he will be
gorgeous. He was turned in by his owners last Tuesday. Apparently he has lived his whole
life in a kennel in their backyard & now that he is out, he does not want to
go back in. Animal control first had him in the kennel with two cocker spaniels
to keep him company and he got along with them just fine, but even with them he
hated being in the kennel, so they let him sleep in the office. He rode in the
car very well all the way from Visalia, but doesn't like being in a crate - he
just doesn't like to be alone. Ventura is already neutered and will be up to date on all his shots this
week. He gets excited when he sees other dogs, but just acts like he wants to say hi.
He was pretty good with the cats. He only wants to chase if they run. One of the
cats kept walking around him in circles (perimeter checks of "the
beast") & he just laid there without moving. He is GREAT with people.
He fell asleep on me on the ride home. ;) He can also sit & lay down when
you ask him nicely. 9/3/2002 Calli: a sweet, lively 3 year old
mixed breed who loves people, loves to be groomed and will do just about
anything for attention. She weighs around 70#, is spayed and up to date on
shots. Good with dogs, not known with cats. Would be good with older children.
Currently at DAWS - Danbury Animal Welfare Society. For more info call

Margie: is very thin and needs to put on at least 10
to 20 pounds. She is very sweet and gets along well with other dogs. This poor
gal has had a tough life and deserves to take it easy in her senior years (8
years old). She is very spunky and loves to play and run around. Margie enjoys
riding in the car and spending time on the sofa as well as sleeping in bed with
you. She is a talker and will moan and groan with pleasure as you pet her. Also
no one has taught Marge that it is not nice to bark when company comes to visit
so we are working on establishing those manners right now. 9/2/2002
Pandy: is a 4 year old
female that gets a long well with other dogs, cats and children. She has a full
mask and is tri color. Pandy does need to loose about 20 pounds. She walks well
on a leash and know basic commands.
9/2/2002
Bruno: is a 3 yr. old neutered roughcoated male
(~140#). Bruno is up-to-date on his shots, including bordetella, and
microchipped with an AVID chip. Bruno was surrendered when his owners moved into
an apartment. He was originally purchased from a pet store. He is housebroken
and knows some basic commands (sit, down, come and stay). He walks well on a
loose leash. He has not lived with other animals. Once he recovers from his
neuter, he will be assessed with cats and other dogs. He was raised in a home
with younger children. He loves to give kisses. His favorite activity is to have
his belly rubbed. Bruno needs a home that will commit to his ongoing obedience
training and socialization. We require a securely-fenced exercise area for
Bruno. Preference will be given to homes in New England or Ontario. 9/1/2002 Sophie Belle: was taken to a kill shelter because
she didn't want to breed. A kind sole rescued her and took her to a better
shelter. And they called rescue. She was treated for positive heartworm and is
ready for a forever home. 9/1/2002
COLBY: 2 y/o male short hair, when he came to us, we were told he is an "outside dog", but, he really prefers to be close to his humans. weight 140# 9/1/2002 Mary T.: My caregivers named me that as I was found wandering the streets of Moore OK. I am an elderly lady about 6 years old and to be honest I have a few extra pounds. I weigh about 140 lbs. I am very friendly with people and other dogs. I have not been around any children but with my laid back personality I don’t think that children will be a problem for me. I am a little shy at first but once I get to know you I am very affectionate. I am in reasonably good health for a lady my age. I am crate and house trained and I walk well on a leash. I would ideally be suited to come to live with an older couple or someone who can understand that I am approaching my “golden years” I have not had all my medical checks yet, but will start being vetted just after Labor Day. As soon as the doctor gives me the approval I will be ready to go to live in at my “forever home.” 8/31/2002 Boy George: This is a young 2 year old Approx. Small in size, Long hair Saint Bernard. His loves all people. He is said to like all dogs, He has not been Cat tested yet. He was found wandering around some homes. He does not appear to have any significant health problems. Housebroken unknown at this point also. He will be vetted for shots, and worming. A good wash is called for of course;) Our foster parents will up date in a few days as to his sweet behavior and any remarkable information you might enjoy. Adoption fee is $150. 8/31/2002 Jewel: 10 months old, Female Long hair /buzzed this month. (Aug) Jewel is a owner turn in. She was to be put down this week , so we must place ASAP. Last night I worked with Jewels a little and she's just so wonderful. She's VERY smart but needs a family that is willing to work with her. She's very playful, loving and craves attention. SHE HATES TO BE CRATED! She's very skinny and needs to put on some weight but she seems to be in good shape other than that. she was spade at 6 months. She's been wormed and up to date on all her shots. She is VERY big and will have to have some obedience training but with the right family she'll be a wonderful companion. I just can't imagine how someone could let such a special dog be put to sleep. I hope we can find the perfect, loving family for this dog because she deserves nothing less. Jewel is a bit aggressive of smaller dogs and cats, She needs to be socialized with other dogs. She is not house broken yet. She is great left alone in the garage as far as not tearing or chewing things. She is wonderful as far as not being destructive that way. P.S. These pictures do not serve her justice! Adoption fee is just $150. 8/31/2002 Maggie: 1 1/2 yr. old spayed, longhaired female. She is a very loving girl. But full of lots of energy. Definitely needs some training, but loves everyone. Not sure if she's good with other dogs, and will only place her with older children due to her energy level. 8/31/2002 Elvis: cool 4 year old St. Bernard/Hound mix. Elvis is a lot of fun - he digs people, kids and other dogs. He passes out kisses (no scarf's), too! Neutered, shots - $100 Adoption Fee. 8/29/2002 Buster: 4 years full mask full mantle tri color very large loves kids loves people (available 8/7/02) 8/27/2002 Maxine: is a very sweet girl. She is approximately 6 years old spayed female. Her ear has had surgery for a hematoma that occurred secondary to a severe ear infection. Maxine's ear is much better now. She has been allowed to come inside the Rescate Hacienda main house. She has never been an inside dog, I suspect. She is housebroken and a great inside dog. Maxine has been adopted by me and the kids. ;))) 8/26/2002 Cinnamon: 3 yr old, LH female. UTD on shots, mainly outdoors, 140 pds, NO other pets, best with older kids, has basic obedience, crate trained and leash trained. Located in Marlton, NJ. 8/26/2002 Billy: is a 7 yo neutered rough coat male. 8/24/2002 This is Billy's second trip into rescue. A wonderful family adopted him last Christmas. Unfortunately, a job transfer to another state prevented them from keeping Billy. Tina: 3 year old longhair female. Needs continued basic obedience classes. Very loving and loves to be in the house. Does not get along with other female dogs, male dogs o.k. 8/23/2002 Catfish: is a 3.5 yo neutered male rough coat. He has a great Saint head. Unfortunately, he was bred to have a nice head with little regard for inherited joint problems. He is not a candidate for any orthopedic surgery because multiple joints are involved. He is very agile considering his elbows, hips and knees. We have him on a nutritional supplement for joints. He follows my daughter when she rides her horse around a 1 mile wooded trail ride. Because of his joints, I would not recommend him for a home with children under 6 years. Those age kids tend to try to ride saints. He's a big baby, loves to have his armpits scratched and hang out near Air conditioning vents. 8/23/2002 Sasha: Very sweet 2 year old smoothcoat female. UTD on vaccines, heartworm and parasite checked. Great with other dogs and loves human attention. She was found as a stray and is looking for a place to call her own. dogs Georgie: is a 2 yr old neutered male who came from a family that was moving and couldn't take him along because they were having financial problems. He gets along with kids and male and female dogs. He just recently learned to do steps in his foster home. Yes , he is a smooth coat (short hair). 8/20/2002 11 month old male: neutered and all shots up to date. Very sweet and loving . Needs training and a fenced in yard. Needs a name, poor baby. 8/20/2002 Shelby:
is a 3 year old Saint/Pyrenees mix. She is super sweet. She is a little
shy around people, at first, but warms up quickly. She especially likes
children. We have tested her with dogs of both genders and sizes and cats;
she is good with everything. She would make a great dog for someone
looking for a gentle playmate with their children, but not as a jump around the
yard playmate with their dog. She is very mellow. House trained, seems to
know some commands (sit, down), walks well on a leash. She needs someone to give
her lots of love!!! Toby:
is 8 mo old special needs puppy. He came
into rescue with a broken leg from abuse- that is healed. He was neutered and
re-xrayed and found to have severe hip dysphasia. He has such a WONDERFUL
personality and deserves to have help with his body. If he doesn't have surgery
he may not be able to function much past 1 yr of age. Would YOU like to be HIS
Saint? UPDATE 2/19/2002
on Toby please- Toby is growing well and happily playing. Hope to have
new picture of him soon. If you have questions on any of this info please ask.
8/19/2001 SPANKY: is a 10 week old rough-coat male, Saint mix puppy. He weighs in at 15 lbs., but has a lot more growing to do!! We are estimating him to grow to around 80 lbs. Spanky is good with other dogs, cats & children. We are working with housebreaking & crate training him. He's an energetic little guy & loves to play! He is already neutered, & up to date on his shots. Spanky is also on flea & heartworm preventative. We recommend that he goes to puppy obedience class. Spanky will make a great addition to someone's family!! 8/19/2002 Noah: young adult LH male. Noah came from the raid of a home with 85 dogs. There was a lot of media coverage, often about this delightful Saint Bernard. His neck has been shaved because he had maggots in his flesh from a poorly fit collar, which required surgical removal. He is recovering nicely and will be available for adoption in September. He is a happy, playful dog. Good with other dogs, and children. 8/18/2002 Chance: and Bessie: We are each 3 years old. We live in Little Rock, Arkansas, with our human, Tina, who loves us very much. Unfortunately, Tina’s job has changed, and she’s not home much to play with us. Tina adopted both of us when we were about 18 months old. Chance came from the Humane Society with the help of the Arkansas St. Bernard Rescue. Bessie came from our vet, Tim Paladino. Chance was abused as a puppy and has lost most of his eyesight as a result. He is good at moving around once he memorizes the yard, and he has a very good memory. He’s a sweet and loving dog who’s never growled or snapped at anyone – not even the person who abused him. You’ll have to forgive his coat in the picture. Tina had a house fire in April, and the insurance company packed all our brushes, leashes, and animal care products. Bessie is a big lap dog. Very loving and lots of fun. She tends to serve as Chance’s seeing-eye dog. She loves to roll over and have her belly rubbed. We would like a home together, if possible, because we’re the best of friends. And we both need room to roam. We get along well with other dogs and animals. Tina doesn’t have any children, but we’re good with other people as well, so we don’t think we’d mind having children to play with. We’d love to stay where we are, and Tina would love to keep us, but we’d like to have a family to play with. 8/17/2002 big boy's: information is just coming in. Oklahoma City Shelter Owner surrender; He is a beautiful dog but is reported to be very very dog aggressive. Needs to be the only pet. I will post more information soon. 8/15/2002 Major: My previous owners turned me in to St. Bernard Rescue because they said I was to big. Don't let my size intimidate you. I am a big ole' teddy bear. I am 13 months old & weigh approx. 114 lbs. I'm a very friendly boy and like to hang out with you. I love everyone I meet, including children. I like to go for car rides. I will sit & give paw on command. I'm housebroken & up to date on all shots. My foster mom says I am ready for my new home. walks and is very much a lady when walking on a leash. 8/13/2002

He is also housebroken & crate trained. Lokey is good with other dogs, cats & children. He rides very well in a vehicle, but could use some work on a lead. Lokey loves to play with other dogs & an occasional toy. He will make a great addition to someone's family. 8/12/2002 Buster: is a 2 year old neutered male that was found as a stray. Molly gets along very well with other dogs , livestock & children. Molly walks well on a lead & just loves everyone she meets. She will be a great addition to ANY family!! 8/7/2002 Houston: is a very handsome longhaired male, whom I believe is 2 years old at the absolute max. When I rescued Houston from animal control, he was covered with burned motor oil. A worker at the shelter explained to me that a lot of folks change their car's oil, then put the used oil on their dog thinking it will prevent or cure mange. Not only is this not true, I'm here to tell you that it's virtually impossible to get the motor oil out of the dog's coat!! After five baths I finally gave up and shaved him. Houston is heartworm negative, has been neutered and has had all his shots. He is a true gentleman - he gets along wonderfully well with the other Rescues and my cats. He loves his Dogloo, and to go for rides. Even though he's a big boy (approximately 31" at the shoulders) Houston is afraid of loud noises like thunder and fireworks, so he'll need to have a safe place to go to when such circumstances arise - preferably inside his new owner's house! Houston is truly a great dog. If you're interested in adopting Houston, please complete the SBRF adoption application. 8/1/2002 Buster Brown: is a handsome longhaired male, about 4 years old. Buster Brown has been at the Houston Humane Society for several months now, and needs a wonderful, loving home to call his own! He is heartworm negative, vaccinated, and will be neutered before he is released to his new home. Buster Brown is very friendly, but (quite understandably!) he does not like being caged. 8/1/2002 Sequoia: is a one year old female. She is housebroken, full of energy and loves attention. She needs some training on a leash, but will be able to train easily. She was surrendered by a loving family who loved her dearly. He is up to date on all shots, in good health, and neutered, ready to be placed in a good home. He needs to be placed in an environment that will not include small farm animals. 7/31/2002 Cupid: Cupid is about 12 months old and has been spayed. She has had all her shots and is heartworm free. At 85 lbs. she is very lively and will need some training. 7/30/2002 Rollie: Rollie is 11 months old, has had all his shots, is heartworm free and has been neutered. He weighs 130 lbs. 7/30/2002 Molly: Molly is about 3 years old and weighs about 115 lbs. She is a bit smaller than average. Molly has all her shots and is heartworm free. She needs some obedience training to learn how to walk on a leash. 7/30/2002

yard required. $300 Adoption fee. 7/21/2002
Hannah: Very sweet 3 year old rough coat. Very laid back girl! Great with children and cats. She gets along great with other dogs unless food or treats are present then she is pretty bossy. Would be great in an only dog household. She is spayed, UTD on vaccines, heartworm, and parasite free. Adoption fee is $250. 7/21/2002 Magnum: is a 5 year old neutered male rough coat. He is a very laid back Large boy. 7/21/2002 Bart: is a 5 year old neutered male rough coat. He is one of the sweetest most laid back males we've had in a while. He has finished treatment for sarcoptic mange (cured) and is regrowing his coat. He would be great for people w/ small kids or cats. He's a "whatever" kind of guy ready to hang out and share his time. 7/21/2002 Bonnie: is a 10 month old rough coat female. She is a very sweet "all puppy" girl. She is very thin but is gaining weight since she parted ways with an intestinal parasite load and is eating "good groceries". Bonnie is not well socialized with cats yet. We will work on that. 7/21/2002 Zak: male, 18 months, LH, neutered, shots, mainly outdoors, 125 pds, good with kids, ok with other dogs if they are submissive (he wants to be dominant), no cats, ok on leash, minimal training. 7/19/2002 Montana: 2 year old longhair female, 110pds, mainly outdoors, housebroken, spay, shots, okay with children, no exposure to other animals, needs training. Owner surrender from Pennsauken, NJ. 7/19/2002 Daphane: is a spayed longhair female Saint. She has a very sweet disposition. She was picked up as a stray and appears to be about 2 years of age. Daphane is house-broke and knows some obedience. She gets along with other dogs, wants to chase cats but when they don't run she gives them a big smell. 7/19/2002 Tubbs:
Has all his shots. He just went to see our Vet on 7/10. He was 1 year old in
February. Tubbs was well cared for and has had some obedience training. He could
use more, though Tubbs will be getting neutered the week of the 15th. We will
have his weight then. He likes other dogs. His hobbies include ear rubbing and
tummy scratches. He would prefer to be an indoor dog but goes outside as well.
Don't worry, he won't steal the remote! 7/18/2002
Gracie: & Romie: are 4-year-old Saint sisters.
Both girls are long hair Saints, are up-to-date on all shots and heartworm
preventative, and are being spayed in the next few days. They are both potty
trained and have great house manners - they spend most of their time in the
house. They are a little shy with strangers and then warm up and become friends.
They love kids and are fine with other dogs. We would like to place these two
lovely girls together as they have been together all their lives, but we would
consider separate homes for them. 7/16/2002
Rocky:
is a 3-4 year old rough male. What a sweet, sweet boy. Poor Rocky was left
tied to the fence overnight at a local shelter because his owners didn't want to
pay the fee to drop him off. He weighed all of about 60 lbs and someone
had dyed the hair on the back of his hind quarters purple. He was being
fostered by a family for the past year and has finally gained some weight.
Now Rocky has found his way to us and is getting the much needed medical
treatment he deserves. He did wonderfully in the car on the way to the vet and
talked to me from the back seat every so often. 7/15/2002 Chrystal:
is a 1 year old female smooth coat . Chrystal is a blue eyed, sweet,
young, dog. She came from a shelter in Chula Vista. On the car ride to Orange
county she played with the kids in the back of the car and at the vet's office
she ran circles around the vet techs legs like a puppy. She is extremely
thin and needs to gain some much needed weight to get completely healthy....What
a sad start for such a sweet dog. She seems to love kids and as you can
see by the pictures, she gets along well with other dogs too. We think she
is still a pup. 7/15/2002 Farley: is an absolutely adorable five-month old male puppy! His owner lived in an apartment that didn't allow pets. He bought Farley anyway, thinking that he could hide Farley from his landlord. When his plan failed (go figure …) he turned Farley into a high-kill shelter. Farley is truly a wonderful puppy! He has a great personality - very outgoing, and eager to please - and he is very intelligent. He has been neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for heartworms, and is on heartworm preventative. Farley goes into his crate without any complaint and lays right down. He loves to play, and will be a wonderful addition to some lucky family! 7/15/2002
Charlie: is a very handsome, one and a
half year old St. Bernard. He is already neutered, and he would love to join
your family. 7/13/2002
Rudy: is an 8-month-old male long-hair Saint. His
hair has been trimmed some because of the heat. He is neutered and current on
all his shots and heartworm. Rudy is house broken, well trained and loves
everyone - adults, kids, dogs and even cats. He is a very big boy, already 130
pounds. Unfortunately, Rudy's parents cannot keep him due to a divorce, and his
daddy is very anxious that a wonderful home be found for him. Rudy would love a
home with another dog to play with but would be equally happy in a home with
people who can give him lots of attention. 7/13/2002
6 Month old: male pup, neutered, all shots current. This pup is great with everything and everyone and needs a home ASAP. Tri color rough coat, great face, a real sweetie. Niko is good with other dogs and kids. 7/11/2002 Latifa: 4 year old female. Rough coat. Great with everyone. Wants to be a Velcro dog. Obedience trained & house trained. He is being crate-trained. Elwood had a medical problem for which he had surgery on May 14th. He has recovered very nicely from this and is a happy, healthy, playful little pup. Elwood is being neutered on June 18th, therefore he will not be available for adoption till late June. Elwood will be adopted to only the most loving home with a fenced-in yard. A Pennsylvania adoption application, personal references, vet reference, and a home check will all be done prior to Elwood going to his forever home. 7/9/2002 Ireland: Ireland has been spayed, has her shots and is heartworm free. He has been neutered and is current on his shots. Byron has been raised around cats, dogs and kids. He gets along great with people and dogs and doesn't mind cats at all. He was mostly an outside dog, but when he did come in the house he showed very good manners. Byron has been kept in a yard with a 4' high fence with no problems. This is a very sweet, pleasant, well-mannered dog who needs a new family to love. 7/8/2002 Goliath: gentle 3 year old male st. Bernard. Bandit is good with children, other dogs and cats. He doesn't know that being left to sit in the sun is a bad thing. We want him to know the joy of being part of a loving family. Neutered, shots - adoption fee $150 7/8/2002 Julie : 1 1/2 year old female smooth coat very sweet and loving. 7/8/2002 LICORICE: This little charmer is a playful 6 month old baby girl who is up to date on shots, heartworm-negative and recently spayed. He is house broken and is a good dog to have in the house because of his laid back, easy going nature. He would make a good companion for the right person. He is good with other dogs, but does not like cats. He is about 140 lbs. and is up to date on shots, neutered and ready to be placed. 7/7/2002 Panda: is a two year old female raised in a family atmosphere. Although she is very protective of her caregivers Panda is a very friendly, mild-mannered dog. She loves lots of attention, especially having her tummy rubbed, and her former owner says that she was very good with the children in the family. She gets along good with the other dogs and is full of life, looking for a caring home and family. Panda is spayed, up to date on her shots, and ready to be placed. 7/7/2002 Scooby: was rescued from an animal shelter. Scooby is about a year old. She is up to date on all of her shots and weighs about 90 lbs. She could stand to gain about 20 more. She is on heartworm and flea preventives. She will be spayed next week and will be ready for adoption shortly after. Scooby is completely housebroken. She has a tendency to chew on stuff, but she only does it when she is alone. She is a little aggressive towards other dogs and doesn’t like cats. She hasn’t been around small children much. She will need a loving and patient home. 7/7/2002 Maximillian: 1Yr Born 5/5/01 Weight; 150 Fixed?; neutered 10/14/01 ProHeart Injection on 6/15/02 for Heart Worm Vet; Goldfield Veterinary Clinic Last shot records; updated 6/15/02 Max will need Rabies booster on 8/22/02 He has been trained to be inside, house broke, but loves being outside, He lives in his favorite cage in the house with the door open. A swimming pool would win him over. 7/7/2002 Zoe: is a two year old St. Bernard. Current on all shots and is currently taking Sentinel. She is spaded and had her teeth cleaned about 4 months ago. She is great around other dogs, as you can see in the pic, and loves kids. Zoe was rescued from a home, she weighed about 47 lbs. when we got her and now after 8 months she is a healthy 70 lbs. Her growth was a little stunted due to malnutrition. We took her into our family and hearts, but she loves to dig under our fence. We currently have a German Shepherd outside with her and three pugs in the house. We have kept her kenneled up to keep her safe- from digging and getting loose. But we know this is not the best thing for her. She is a loving dog and friend, she likes to give kisses and those eyes are just too much. 7/7/2002 Sasha: 4 year old LH female, suffers from separation anxiety, but is improving. Crate and house trained. 7/6/2002 Augustus: was abandoned by his owner who believes in disposable pets. "Gus" is a 2 yo rough coat male. He is a super sweet guy. He will be neutered as soon as he gets over the kennel cough infection he picked up at the shelter. 7/5/2002 PANDORA: is an 18 month old rough-coat female. She weighs in at 107 lbs., but needs to gain another 20 lbs. or so. Pandora is spayed, UTD on all shots, and is on Flea & Heartworm preventative. She is housebroken & does not need a crate. She travels well, but at first is afraid to get into the vehicle. Once in, she loves it. Pandora has been severely neglected by her former owner, & was abandoned. She is a super loving dog & just wants to please her owner! Pandora was born with a condition called "Demodectic Mange" & is being treated. This condition is NOT contagious, but will be permanent & on going. When she has a flare up, it is basically just like having a hot spot. As of right now, she is learning some basic commands, & is working on them well. She is good with children , cats & dogs of all sizes. Pandora will make a loving addition to someone's family. 7/5/2002 Sunny: is an absolutely beautiful, shorthaired female, not quite 2 years old. She has been spayed, is current on her vaccinations, is heartworm negative, and is on heartworm preventative. Sunny gets along well with other dogs; it's unknown how she is with cats. She is a very sweet, loving dog but doesn't realize that she weighs over 100 pounds! It will probably be best for her to go to a home without small children so that she won't knock them over with her enthusiasm.7/3/2002 SAM: Two-year old roughcoat Sam came to us when his family moved and the new landlord wouldn't allow pets. He is neutered, UTD on all shots and heartworm-negative. His very favorite things include baths, ice cream, and riding in the car. Nervous at first meeting new people, Sam quickly warms up. The perfect home for Sam would have a fenced yard and a Saint-experienced owner. He'd like to be the only pet. Same has been with children; however, he would do best with OLDER kids because of his size and energy. 7/2/2002
SAMSON #2: This little cutie is about 1 year old, neutered,
UTD on shots, heartworm-negative and housebroken. Samson will flourish
with a patient owner willing to spend time with him. At only 77 pounds,
he's still a little guy. He's quite playful and would like to be in a
CAT-FREE home. He would probably do best as an only-dog (or with a
submissive female) because he thinks all the toys in the world are HIS.

3 years old. He's a very smart dog - he knows how to sit, stay, lay down, and
shake hands! Beethoven is also a very friendly and loyal fellow, but he's not
good with other dogs. White Settlement has a very small shelter and Beethoven's
time there is almost up. He will have to be transferred to a kill shelter if
he's not adopted within the next two weeks. If you have any questions, or if
you'd like to meet this sweet dog, 7/2/2002 Hercules: 2 year old LH male. OK with most dogs. No young children. 7/2/2002 Jeff: 13 week old male, soon to be neutered, all shots up to date. She is a TV watcher and loves to go for walks. She is looking for a permanent home with a family she can call her own. Preferably with a soft couch and large screen TV. 7/1/2002 GRACIE: is a 2 1/2 year old rough-coat female. She weighs in at a 101 lbs., but could use to gain another 20 lbs. or so. Gracie is spayed, utd on all shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. She is currently being housebroke & crate trained, while in foster care. Gracie gets along fine with other dogs, cats, & children too. She could use some basic obedience, but already knows a couple commands. Gracie rides great in the car , but pulls some on the leash. She is a very friendly, happy dog & will make a great addition to someone's family!! 6/21/2002 BEAU: is a 16 month old smooth-coat male. He weighs in at 140 lbs. Beau is neutered, utd on all shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. He is also housebroken. Beau gets along well with other dogs, cats & children. You will need to watch him around smaller children, just because he is very puppyish, & may accidentally knock them over. He's just not very aware of his size yet!! 6/8/2002 Sherry: - 2 year old female. Smooth coat. Sherry is a Saint/Great Dane mix. She has the body of a Dane, but the coat and markings of a Saint. Sherry is very sweet and great with kids. Great with kids and other dogs. Will need to be the dominant female. 6/26/2002
YOGI #2: Yogi is 4-5 years old, smoothcoat, UTD on shots,
HW-negative and housebroken. His vision's not that great (although he has
no trouble spotting his food bowl or the occasional treat). Yogi came to
us from a shelter where he had been surrendered because his family neglected
him. Amazingly, he still trusts people and would like to be with a family.
He's okay with kids, fine with other dogs and great with cats.
6/24/2002
Mabel: is a very pretty, longhaired female,
approximately 2 years old. She has been spayed, is current on her vaccinations,
and is heartworm-free. Mabel has a heart of gold! She gets along well with
other dogs, kids and adults; unknown with cats. Mabel is a very happy girl, and
needs to go to a home where someone will have the time and patience to work with
her. Although Mabel absolutely loves children, she's a lot of dog, so it will
probably be best for her to be adopted by a family with children aged nine and
up. Mabel will be a loving addition to some fortunate family! 6/23/2002 Poppy: is a very handsome longhaired male, just over
7 months old. Born October 19, 2001, Poppy is an absolute love, and wants very
much to please! He loves to go in his crate, and he hasn't had a single
"accident" in the house. He tries to act brave - running up to my
grown dogs in their kennels and barking like a Big Dog - but then he turns tail
and runs to me for protection. Poppy is a very "soft" dog - he's very
sensitive and shy, and needs to go to a home where he'll know he's a loved and
treasured member of the family. He has been neutered, has had all of his shots,
and is on heartworm preventative. 6/19/2002 Helen: is an 8-10 month old female. Helen is a fun
loving young dog, who loves to be around people. She loves lot of attention and
is eager to please her owner. She is a little shy around other dogs, but gets
along just fine with them. Helen needs to be part of a good, loving family. 6/3/2002 King: When King's owner went to prison, in a way, so
did King. But we've sprung him from the SPCA and he's now in foster care. King
is now neutered, utd on his shots and is about 115 lbs., but he's very
underweight. He was not cared for properly by his owner, and as a result, he's
being treated for a bad flea allergy which caused him to lose much of his hair
around his tail and hindquarters. But his neglect has not affected his sweet
temperament. He's a face licker and a cuddler. We're currently accepting
applications for him but he won't be available for adoption until early May. He
is going to be an absolutely gorgeous guy with some time and attention. Contact
Diane Notarangelo for more information. 6/18/2002
Annie: is a lively 10 month old "Wanna Be
Saint". She has a delightful personality in a compact 30-35 pound size
body. Her life has been that of a neglected backyard dog who is now learning the
ways of being a family pet! She is curious and willing to learn! She is crate
trained and has always been around small children. She seems to do well with
other dogs, but is still learning body language and all of the skills necessary
to play! We are guessing that she may have some Aussie and/or Corgi in her as
her herding instincts are quite high! Her willingness to learn and please will
make her a great obedience/agility prospect as well as a wonderful addition to
her new family! 6/18/2002
Stephanie: is a 10 month old rough coat spayed female puppy. She is all puppy and very sweet. Her owners no longer had time for her. 6/17/2002 Twinkie: is an absolutely adorable longhaired female puppy, about 6 months old. She was rescued from a man who was out in his front yard literally beating her with his fists. You would never know what a rough start she had in life - she is all about giving kisses!! Twinkie is very smart and outgoing. Her adult teeth are coming in, so she's seriously into chew toys! She loves to stand on the grooming table and have her coat blown with the dryer. I'm working to teach her not to jump up on people - she just wants to get close to your face so she can cover you with kisses. She has been spayed, has had her first set of shots and her rabies vaccination, and is on heartworm preventative. 6/17/2002 Rocky: male, 2yrs, LH, 120 pds, neutered, shots, good with older kids, mainly indoors, housebroken, ok with pets, needs socialization. Housetrained & crate trained. Needs a home with older kids due to size & activity level. 6/17/2002 Goliath: 3 year old male - rough coat. Very good with people. Would prefer to be the only dog. House trained, obedience trained & very good on a leash. 6/17/2002 Simon: 7 month old rough male. Saint/Shepard mix. Very sweet and outgoing. Good with other dogs and kids. Needs obedience training. Simon is being house trained and crate trained. Needs a home that will keep him inside when they are gone because he is an escape artist. 6/17/2002
DELILAH: Delilah is a playful longhaired little girl.
She's spayed, UTD on shots, heartworm-negative, and housetrained. She was
picked up as a stray in Brooklyn, NY (along with Samson #2) and would like her
own family. She's VERY sweet. Good with other dogs and with kids.
Probably okay with cats.
5/29/2002
BRANDY #6: Brandy #6 is a three-year old spayed smoothcoat
female. She's UTD on shots, heartworm-negative and housebroken. She
is curious and playful with other dogs, okay with cats, fine with kids.
She likes drinking from a garden hose and rolling in snowbanks. Brandy likes
nothing better than to lie around and get her tummy scratched (which is probably
why she's 15 pounds overweight). Her new family will enjoy taking walks
with her and will have a fenced yard.
5/29/2002

lbs. He loves people, good with children and playful With other dogs. Neutered,

She is eager to please and loves attention. 6/10/2002 SAMPSON: is an 18 month old rough-coat male. He is a smaller built Saint & weighs in at 90 lbs., but could use to gain some more weight. Sampson is neutered, UTD on all shots, and is on flea & heartworm preventative. He is also housebroken & crate trained. He walks well on a leash & seems to know some basic commands. Sampson is great with children, cats & other dogs. He is a very friendly , loving guy & can still be very much a puppy! Sampson will also enjoy a good nap in your bed . Sampson has also saved a dog's life by being used as a blood donor, so Sampson truly is a "Rescue" dog!! He will make a wonderful addition to someone's family. POOH BEAR: is a 2 year old rough-coat female, & weighs in at 110 lbs. She is spayed, UTD on all shots, and is on Flea & Heartworm preventative. Pooh Bear is also housebroken & crate trained. She likes to please her owner, but she is not a very demanding gal. Pooh Bear enjoys a good cat chase, so we do not recommend her to a home with felines, just as a precaution. Pooh Bear also enjoys the outdoors! She walks well on a lead, but does need some work with basic obedience commands. We would recommend a basic obedience class for her. Pooh Bear is good with children & other dogs. She would make a great family pet! 6/8/2002 CHLOE: is a 7 month old rough-coat female. She weighs in at 84 lbs. & is still growing! Chloe is spayed, utd on all shots, is on flea & heartworm preventative, and is microchipped. She is also housebroken & crate trained. Chloe is a VERY spunky gal, who is a little timid when she meets someone for the first time, but that doesn't last long! Then she is just all over you for attention! Chloe gets along fine with cats, dogs & children. You would need to watch her around smaller children, just because she is VERY puppyish, & may accidentally knock over a small child. Chloe just LOVES to play with toys, & plays real well with other dogs. We recommend that Chloe go to a puppy obedience class, so she can learn how to direct her energy! She does know the command "SIT", & understands the word "NO". She is also learning how to walk on a leash, & is learning well. So if you are interested in a bouncing bundle of joy, Chloe is the dog for your family!! 6/8/2002 Mac: he is very sweet and friendly with kids adults and dogs. He loves to be brushed and talked to. He is very dirty and has a lot of burrs. We brushed him for about 1 hour trying to fix him up. He needs a lot more work that I will try and do. He is a big love. I am not sure how he is around cats? This poor dog has been through a lot. He just loves us cause we give him so much attention. Mac deserves a chance with a good family. Mac will be vetted and an health up date /with approx age and weight will be added to our rescue post as soon as we have it. 6/6/2002 Kujoe: This two year old male is housebroken and was raised in a family atmosphere. He is a mild mannered, easy going dog that loves wide open spaces and lots of attention. He responds good to a leash and is well behaved. Kujoe will make a good addition to a family with or without children. Although he needs a little additional weight, Kujoe is a healthy, beautiful dog. 6/3/2002 RUSTY: Friendly 3 year old longhaired male is looking for a new home. Rusty was turned into the Pahrump Animal Shelter because his family moved and said they didn't have room for him. NEUTERED, SHOTS AND MICROCHIPPED 6/3/2002 Brittany: Nice looking 4 yr. old female longhaired Saint who loves people but cannot be around small dogs. He was originally found stray in the woods by a family who took him in. He has been moved from this home to foster care. Jake has been neutered and his shots are up to date. He will be tested shortly for heartworm disease and intestinal worms. He is estimated to be somewhere around two years old. He seemed a little unsure of things when his foster mom first picked him up, but he has settled into her home very nicely. He is constantly around other dogs and cats, and they all get along very well. His foster family even has llamas and horses, and Jake is cool with that too!. He loves to be with people in the house, but is always ready to go out and play. He is housebroken and has good inside manners. His foster dad gets a friendly greeting at the door from Jake when he comes in. Jake weighs 125 pounds and seems to be a happy, healthy, playful dog who does know when it's time to settle down. 5/31/2002 Daisy: 14 month old female - smooth coat. Great with everyone. Needs obedience training. Daisy is currently being house trained, crate trained & has started learning obedience. 5/30/2002 Ginger: 6 year old rough female. Very sweet. Loves to follow you everywhere. House trained and good in the house while you are gone. Good with other dogs and kids. 5/30/2002
Daisy Mae: Hi, I am Daisy Mae. I am 41/2 years old. I will be 5 in
November. I am a rough coat. I am very happy and active. My foster mom says that
I am a Lab trapped in a Saint suit. I am good with kids and other dogs. I
will try to be the dominant female if I can be. I am house trained, crate
trained and know most obedience although a refresher course would be nice. I am
not destructive and think I am a lap dog. I was turned into rescue because my
owners thought I was too much dog. I really enjoy pets and belly rubs. 5/30/2002
Bubba: is a 4 year old smooth coat. Bubba is a big
sweet, boy. His owner turned him in with 2 other dogs.... on the way to the
boarding kennel he layed his head in my lap looking up once in awhile to give
sweet kisses...we don't know much about Bubba yet as we are still learning. He
doesn't seem to mind other dogs and from what we've seen is just a giant 4 yr
old Teddy Bear. If you think you might be Bubba's forever home, please contact
us. To see pictures of Bubba, please go to 5/28/2002 DORIAN: 4-year-old longhaired male, neutered. Very mellow fellow, but loves to romp and play with other Saints. Good with kids, cats -- everyone. Needs to learn some basic obedience but is very willing and bright. 5/22/2002 DUTCHESS: Petite 2 year old female longhaired St. Bernard. Dutchess is a good girl who gets along with everyone, including other dogs. She is a little cutie! Shots, spayed and microchipped $150 Adoption Fee. 5/22/2002 DAISY: 1 yr
old longhaired female. Very sweet and loving. But definitely has that saintly temperament. She
is a big puppy and loves to play with other dogs! She does not know a stranger
and her Saintly temperament shows with every wet kiss that she can give. She would make the right home a very loving and devoted companion. 5/22/2002
Maggie: is a Louisiana Saint. Maggie is a 3-5 year
old, 114lbs female Saint Bernard. She is short haired now as we have had her clipped.
I believe by her photo's she will be a long hair saint soon. She is beautifully
marked. Maggie's story; Maggie was left behind when her owners moved. A neighbor
was supposed to be taking care of her and the other dog, but failed to do so.
The other dog a dashound and Maggie were starved and waterless. The small dog is
in critical condition and may not live. They owner should be put down not the
pets. (my opinion only ) Maggie is great with kids and other dogs, but we are
not sure about cats. She is housebroken and walks great on or off lead. She
shows no aggression towards strangers and is pretty easy going about her
environment. She has separation anxiety ( go figure!), but has made great
progress in overcoming it. She will bark if left outside and she sees you leave,
but is fine if she is inside and you go. She is a VERY loving and gentle dog and
will make a great family pet. Maggie was heart worm positive and staved , She is
starting heart worm treatment , She will be given her shots, worming and after a
few weeks, and she is up to it she will have surgery for spaying. So we est. she
will be able to leave her foster home by the end of May 2002. Maggie's adoption
fee is $200. due to the extreme cost of heartworm treatment ,shots, and spaying.
Do to Maggie's on going heart worm treatment she will not be cleared for
placement until the first of July. We wish to make sure she is in top shape for
her new forever home. 5/22/2002
Alicia: Date of Birth; 5/20/94 Description; Rough Coat Saint HHGDR
Suggests; Obedience Class Good With; Dogs, Adults, Children, Cats Alicia's story; I was used as a breeding dog until I could no longer breed, then I
was given away where I was doomed to spend my remaining years on a chain.
Luckily a wonderful woman found out and was able to get me and send me to
HHGDSBR.

Baby: Baby is a 3 year old male saint who weighs
about 150 lbs. His heartbroken owner has to give him up, as circumstances have
required her to move to public housing and she cannot have a pet over 30 lbs.
Baby is housebroken and good with cats and kids. OK with other dogs. He pulls
some on a leash, but is manageable. Rides well in the car. Currently located in
South Philadelphia. Contact Diane Notarangelo for more information. 5/17/2002
Fred: Fred is a good looking guy. He's a 3-4 year
old neutered male. He's good on a leash and housebroken. He's very good with
adults but is not good with children. Currently located in Reading, PA. Contact
Diane Notarangelo for more info. 5/17/2002
Bernie: Saints aren't for everyone, as Bernie's
owners found out. They've had him for 4 months and have decided they cannot care
for him properly. Bernie is a 2 1/2 year old neutered male, weighing about 130
lbs. He's housebroken, good with kids and other dogs. He's a cat chaser, so no
cats, please. Bernie likes being groomed (and vacuumed!) and enjoys car rides.
Another plus--he's not a huge drooler. Could you be the loving home Bernie is
searching for? Currently located in Tunkhannock, PA. Contact Diane Notarangelo
for more information. 5/17/2002
Yokie: is a 5 yr. old spayed roughcoated female
(~110#). She is up-to-date on her shots, including bordetella, and is
microchipped with a PetNet chip. Yokie was seized following a cruelty
investigation. She loves people, fetching a ball, and having a soft bed to sleep
on. She is crate trained and housebroken. She knows some commands (sit, down,
wait, come, and give). Yokie's dog skills are improving as she is in a foster
home with three other Saint Bernards. She loves to follow the cats around the
house and will require additional work with cats. We feel that she would do best
with a confident, adult male dog as her companion. Like all of our rescued Saint
Bernards, Yokie needs a home that will commit to her ongoing socialization and
obedience training, as well as provide her with a securely-fenced exercise area.
Preference will be given to homes in New England or Ontario. 5/16/2002 Ruby: female, Younger approx 18 months. She is very
friendly. She is house trained and living indoors at her foster home now. She
might like to test the family Cat. So not sure here. She is not dog aggressive.
Loves dogs and Children. She is a fence climber. Whoever adopts her needs to
have an unclimbable fence. Perhaps a farm for wide open range or an electric pet
wire ran around your yard fence, before s he is brought home. Pet chargers are
can be orders for around $45. and the wire and fence hooks are about $20. After
a few touches the saint will never try the fence again and the electric can be
turn off. She will never know the difference. Has a medium smooth coat, long
tail, she was found with a green nylon color, she is underweight , We believe
she has been on the streets for a while. She was only 30 minutes from being put
down when we reached the shelter to place an hold on her. This week end April
4th. She is now in the Little Rock Area. Ruby has been vetted today and is VERY
heartworm / She will be held in a foster home until she has recovered well
enough to be spay. Her weight is off at least by 50 LBS > April 4th. only
weights 87 lbs. She loves people , children, , and other dogs. Loves to lick you
in the face. Has a large bone structure, so with weight she will be about 130
lbs. Smooth coat / long tail/ hips appear to be no problem. If you have a farm
or could run a pet charger with a wire around your yard for a few days until
Ruby learns the electric will be on . I feel then the electric could be turned
off and she would never try to get out. As long as she was fed all she wanted.
Adoption fee is only $150. 5/15/2002

spayed, UTD on all shots, and is on Flea & Heartworm preventative. She is
great with cats , other dogs & livestock. Snow White is also good with
kids. We prefer her to go to a home with older children , just because she may
tend to knock over smaller kids, but not intentionally. Snow White knows
"SIT", & will walk on a lead , but will suddenly flop over when
she needs reassurance. She is a very submissive dog & will need some basic
obedience. Snow White is housebroken, & does not need to be crated. She is
a diamond in the rough, & will need someone with some patience because of
her submissiveness. Snow White absolutely loves everyone!!

Lacy:
In August, 2000, I was found roaming in Geauga County and was subsequently
picked up by the dog warden. I was wearing a tight choke chain that had worn
the fur off my neck and left the skin red and raw. The pads of my feet were
also raw so I'd been on the run for a while. The dog warden kept me for a week
hoping that my owner would make an attempt to claim me. When no one claimed me
Saint Bernard Rescue was called. I am very gentle with other dogs, kids, men
and women. I am on the quiet side and am most content being around people
though I'm not very affectionate. My foster family thinks I came from a home
where I was an indoor dog because I am so well mannered. But get me outdoors
and I LOVE to run! I am about three years old, have a smooth coat, and am
up-to-date on shots. I am also heartworm negative, spayed and weigh 85 pounds.
I would do best in a home where there is a large fenced area for me to get
exercise. I am NOT an outside dog. ADOPTION FEE; $175. 4/30/2002

Chester: is a Dalmatian mix puppy. He was
born on Valentine's Day, which explains why he's such a love! He is absolutely
adorable and is a great snuggler - as you can tell from his picture. He was born
in the house and has been kept in a playpen and raised with lots of
socialization. Chester will be smaller than a Saint since his mom was a
Dalmatian. He has two other siblings still available who are quite large but do
not have Saint coloring like Chester - their pics are available if requested. 4/23/2002
Sherman: is a 1-year-old male Saint with a half mask
and adorable tan freckles on his head who was rescued from the Oklahoma City
shelter. He has a wonderful personality and is very friendly and affectionate.
He has been neutered and is up-to-date on all his shots. He is good with other
dogs, large and small, and he behaves very well on the leash, no pulling at all.
He is now happily running and playing with the other Saints and the Beagle at
his foster home. He likes companionship and would do best in a home with other
dogs or people around most of the time. Updated pics of Sherman taken 4/5/02 in
his foster home. He was very skinny when he came to us but has been gaining
steadily and is really looking good. 4/23/2002

heartworm preventative, and is housebroken. This guy is very loving &
affectionate. He loves to have someone pet him & give him belly rubs. His
favorite pastime is trying to be a couch potato! Sebastian is well-behaved in
the house & responds very well to the word "NO". He also knows
the commands; "SIT", "DOWN" & is working on
"HEEL". Sebastian gets along well with other dogs, but prefers the
company of a female, & would be good with children. He has had no exposure
to cats, but should do well with them also. Sebastian is a very laid back
guy. 4/18/2002
Ginger: We picked up Ginger and her younger
"sister" Logan at a Lancaster shelter. Their love for each other would
bring tears to your eyes. Ginger is about 9 years old, spayed and housebroken.
She is good with kids, dogs and cats. Great on a leash. She is a real lovebug
and is looking for the perfect retirement home. We'd love if that home was with
Logan. Ginger is about 85 lbs. and loves attention. Don't let her age fool
you... she's very playful and had no problems jumping up into our SUV. Currently
in foster care. 4/18/2002 Logan: What a tongue this girl has! Logan is a 3
year old, housebroken female longhair splash coat that will be spayed prior to
placement. She's a big face licker, but not a big drooler. She's small for a
saint (under 90 lbs) but she's got the heart of a big dog. She's playful, good
with kids and other dogs. We'd love to place her with Ginger, her older
sister... both were surrendered by their moving owner and they truly love each
other. Currently in foster care.

old, longhair female. This is a very smart girl. She had found
herself without a home and alone on the streets in northern AZ, but this did
not stop her. She came across the home of a fellow dog rescuer and began
to hang around for meals and finally to get her help in finding us in Saint
Bernard rescue. Nana is a very sweet and loving girl who is just
looking to be part of her own family again. She has proven to be social
with other dogs and just fine around older children. She is a home-body
and will make a great addition to her new family. 4/12/2002
Klondike:
4-5
year old shorthair male
has
really come into his own as he has settled into his new surroundings. He is an
energetic and overall happy dog. He loves to play and give you his paw! He seems
to enjoy the company of other dogs. Because of his past (almost freezing to
death at a younger age) his eyesight is compromised. He can see but not as well
as others. It is suspected that there may be some underlining neurological
damage from this, however, he does not outwardly show any signs. He has overcome
some huge obstacles in his past and is just looking to be someone's
"special buddy". It is hoped that we can find him that home which he
will be able to live out his life outside of a kennel in which he has always
known. With the love and a stable home life, Klondike will blossom even
farther. 4/11/2002 TEDDY: is an 18 month
old, rough-coat male. He weighs 137 lbs., & is still growing! Teddy
is neutered, UTD on all his shots, housebroken & is on flea &
heartworm preventative. He is good with children, cats, ferrets, other dogs of
all sizes, & livestock. Teddy has a very loving nature & enjoys his
shoulders being rubbed. He loves to play with his stuffed toys & then
enjoys a good nap on the couch! Teddy will have to go to a family where there
is someone home all of the time, or has another canine buddy with him. Teddy
has some separation anxiety , & needs a companion while no one is
home. He came from a family with a bunch of kids & 7 other dogs, so he is
used to having someone around. Teddy is a wonderful boy & would make a
great family companion.

Hans: is an 18 month old
soon to be neutered male rough coat. He
is a sweet guy, a bit shy yet. A very long, tall dog. His
coat is in rough shape. He has Sarcoptic Mange and is being treated for that.
It is completely curable. His coat coloration is very dull, I suspect from eating
"cheap" dog food. We
have him on Science Diet and a nutritional coat and skin supplement. He will
be ready to go home is 2-3 weeks. 4/7/2002
Bubba: is a 1 1/2 year old, longhaired male looking
to become a member of a loving and patient family. He has been placed in
rescue's care due to the divorce of his parents and with all of the goings on,
he has become anxious and is just starved for that people attention. He has been
a house dog (until recently) and has been raised with kids and cats. He has not
been with another dog....that we know of, so that would be another training
issue for him! 4/4/2002 Lucy: is a
very imposing, large figure with the saddest looking eyes, a totally docile
disposition... ... ...a real softhearted 5 year old lady. She certainly will be
the ideal family pet. Lucy is housebroken and current on her shots. 4/4//2002
Icky:

This is one beautiful saint and so very playful. Great

Simba:
He is at a foster home in Ill. He must be placed in the next two days or they
will have to return him to the kill shelter. Please have a look at the photos. He is in Northern Ill. Contact
Meghan, 815-758-5261. DeKalb, IL foster home Simba is an indoor St. Bernard. When I first brought him home
he would only go out if I went with
him. The people from whom I rescued him, kept him
out in their garage He was not properly cared for, nor properly fed.
Basically he was very neglected and they were going to have him put down.
He is definitely an indoor Saint, now he does not like to leave my side. He is
very loyal. He goes with us to softball games and interacts very well with other
dogs he does not know. He listens very well. I don't know to what extent his
training was but he sits, speaks, lies down and stays.
He is very well behaved. During his vet check, he weighs
142 lbs. he is under weight. The vet said he would like to see him gain another
20 -30 lbs. but not more than that he loves taking baths and being brushed. I
try to give him a bath every other daytime permitting. his coat is really
starting to look lovely. His birthday is in October this year he will be 6 years
old. Whoever becomes his new owner will truly be blessed with a wonderful new
friend. 4/4//2002 Abigale: 4.5 yr female, LH, 100pds, spay, shots, ok
